Yeah, that's me singing... the hair tends to fall out as fast as it grows, but while there's still enough there, I'll let it keep doing whatever it wants to do.

Thanks RL... appreciated.

Thanks DP... the guitarist will be visiting Australia (from the UK) some time this year I believe, but whether we play again is an unknown; I'll need a bigger car to accommodate the walking frame and then we would need to find a bass player and drummer who are willing to put up with the smell from our urine soaked trousers.

You may not be, but I think the fact this post has been dragged out again purely because Col has failed at Freo, I would consider a celebration of his failure more than commiseration over our poor drafting.

Melbourne v Essendon - NAB Challenge - 20 March, 2015
hardtack replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Who has said we would have to? If we did though it wouldn't concern me too much as traveling and performing is one of the things we need to get better at - after all, teams like Freo, Eagles, Crows etc do it on a regular basis and manage ok. -

And at the half time break I want to see these guys pumping it out while steins of larger are distributed amongst the crowd... free admission if you wear your lederhosen! -

Almost exactly one year ago I posted on here about how we here on Demonland can't let things go.... I think the fact that this thread was dragged out of mothballs to celebrate Col's fall from grace is living proof... http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/35873-colin-sylvia/?p=882161

I would rather we play a team on the up (GWS) than the Saints. -

Well, according to Tony's good mate Kevin Andrews, the best thing for this country is a pairing of Abbott and Gillard -
Get the Procol Harum albums Home and A Salty Dog... brilliant stuff

He was also outstanding when he was with Procol Harum

Thanks EH... stage presence and energy levels increase exponentially, commensurate with the intake of alchoholic beverages.

No one seems to get over to the music thread in the General forums much, so I thought I would do a little self promotion here... I just want some critiques so that I can feel warranted in my self deprecation... if you like, say so, if you hate it or think its shite, say so. As advised on the page, put in headphones and crank up the volume to cover hide the weaknesses and close your eyes because we never got to put a real clip together and just cobbled a bit of home made footage instead. http://demonland.com/forums/index.php?/topic/28948-nuggets-music-videos/?p=1047246

Ok, I know somewhere earlier in this thread I mentioned that I would post a clip of a song myself and a friend (who is based in the UK) created via long distance file exchanges. Well, after much [censored] around with bits of footage and trying to do stuff between his busy work schedule in teh British fillum industry, nothing happened... nada, zip, zilch, not a thing, bugger all... So, being a man of my word, a person with absolutely no pride and a sado-masochist who is prepared to deliver himself the ultimate humiliation while inflicting pain on anyone prepared to click on the below link, I now bite the bullet and give you, Don't Blame Me... a song penned by myself (Tim Fleming) and the guitarist come archery expert and trainer to the stars (Steve Ralphs) in 1979 and re-visited 35 years later to be recorded in two, yes count 'em, two countries literally a world apart (UK v Australia)... One important piece of advice... only listen with headphones on and the volume cranked right up to maximise the pain... err, I mean, experience. Oh yes, you may want to close your eyes as well.

Never heard of that... it was an Australian film? I thought the best "revisit the nazis" film I've seen of late was Iron Sky... very very funny film... particularly liked that the president of the US was a Sarah Palin look alike.

Sooooo, it was YOU!!

I'll see your curse and raise you one... When I first moved to Sydney and took an interest in NRL, I followed the Newtown Jets... club folded. Next, I moved my alliegance to the North Sydney Bears... club was merged with Manly Sea Eagles and moved to the Central Coast... not too long after, central coast initiative abandoned, manly Sea Eagles reinstated as the Manly Sea Eagles, North Sydney Bears?...club folded. Still reeling from that, I switched to South Sydney Rabbitohs... a few seasons later...club folded. (the happy ending there was that after much lobbying by luminaries such as Russel Crowe and Andrew Denton, they were reinstated a few seasons later and last year won the premiership). And through all of this, I have supported the MFC since the late '50's.

Well, your forum name would seem to be appropriate... a comedian. There is a very big difference between being a defeatist and being a realist. The fact that he is saying we expect to play finals next year (without discounting this year, by the way), would indicate that he expects our climb up the ladder to start this year and so there will be plenty for supporters to hold onto in the mean time.

Its the grand old flag, with Melbourne in it.

I think you might have a different perception if we happened to be winning more than not and playing finals. -

Of course I'm guessing DC (we are all guessing)... my guess is based on my personal budgeting over the past few years (as I clearly stated in my comment). I give $50 a month for a kid in Mongolia via World Vision... now I know that that $50 will not keep that child and her community going, but collectively all of the contributions from all over the planet quite possibly will. My view on these kinds of things is that if you do nothing, you can be sure that nothing will happen and nothing will change. However, if you do something, then there is a chance (even if it is slight) that something will happen and things will change. I know which I would rather be doing.

Well, individually I think it is... if I buy a cup of coffee and a newspaper each working day at $5.50 a pop, that's $27.50 per week or over a $1,000 per year. So, I'm happy to forgo a coffee every second day, read the news online, have a couple less beers every week. Give up smoking (if you are a smoker) and that saving goes up massively with the added benefit that your health improves and the cost to the public health system is greatly reduced. I doubt very much that carbon taxes and their impact on other goods and services came to that much at an individual level (well, certainly not that I noticed in my budgeting).

There have been two reports today... one that 2014 was a new high for average global temperature and that it is now 14 of the 15 years in the 21st century have been the warmest since records have been kept. The other report related to the melting glaciers and the impact on Iceland and volcanic activity which in 2010 cost the global economy $5 billion. Is it really worth the risk to sit back and do nothing all for the sake of a few dollars out of the hip pocket?
