I saw a post on one of the Melbourne FC supporter group pages on Facebook (yeah, yeah, I know), referring to a forward prospect from Wagga via Canberra named Harrison Hemmelberg. Does anyone know much about him and is he worth consideration by the club in that support role for Hogan? http://www.canberratimes.com.au/afl/afl-news/harrison-himmelberg-steps-up-when-it-counts-most-to-enhance-afl-draft-hopes-20151012-gk6vvr.html

Why does it look worse like that? We lost a player who doesn't want to be with the club (which was apparent from his performances on the field) for a player who wants the chance to prove himself and a pick (68) which is worthless in what everyone considers a shallow draft.
-
I doubt it's over yet and I hardly think it's worthwhile getting upset over what has transpired so far. Isn't it still possible that we can trade second and third round picks to net a first round pick and Bugg? (I won't pretend to understand all of the nuances when it comes to values of picks and the worth to GWS of trading a first round pick for second round picks etc... but can't we still come out of this with an improved list at the end of the trade period and a better shot at the draft?)

I haven't seen anything that describes the event as "rape"... a sexual offence could be any number of things, so possibly the title of this thread is, and please pardon the pun, premature?
-
Is it possible that Cross was retired knowing that the position he was subsequently offered and has taken with the club, was going to be available?
-
True, but both sides are guilty of using unusual events in support of their argument... but none are quite as funny as the deniers (not on these forums, I might add) that point to extreme cold weather events as evidence against global warming.

Just a quick question.... many are saying that this year's is a weak draft, so what just exactly is considered a weak draft? The reason I ask is that on looking at the top 10 finishers in this year's Brownlow voting only Dustin Martin (at #3) and Dangerfield (at #10) were top 10 draft picks. The rest were Fyfe (the winner) #20, Priddis #31 in the rookie draft after being overlooked in 3 or 4 previous National Drafts, Sam Mitchell #36, Kennedy #40 (Father Son), Hannebery #30, Mundy #19, Ward #19 and Goldstein #37. If this is something that is repeated over multiple Brownlows (I haven't checked all, but I'm sure this year is probably not an exception), then surely the idea of a weak draft is a bit of a furphy.

Looking forward to seeing you take the field in your first game at AFL level. When can we expect to see you and which team?

Bugg Bird... character from the NZ production of Sesame Street.

Not to mention "than", not "then"... another of my pet hates (grammatically speaking).

If the club was considering trading him, I doubt somehow they would then be signing him up for another 3 years due to a lack of interest from other clubs. Surely if that were the case, they would have offered one, or two at most.

Wrecker45...greater minds than yours say that global warming is very real and greater minds than mine say it is not. Unless you have some sort of qualification in the area of climate science (I certainly don't), I would say that you are none the wiser than the rest of us.

I didn't get to see that game as I was out of the country, but that was a great game for a different reason... Souths beat the club I hate with a passion... Canterbury. I live in the Canterbury area, and their supporters [censored] me off like you would not believe.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
hardtack replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
I actually don't have any thoughts about him one way of the other... if we take him, fine... if we don't take him, fine. I know he has performed quite well against us in the past and I would not be at all surprised if he was on the radar of other clubs (that's something both you and I have no knowledge of). I suppose we will know more over the coming weeks. -

Well, we have had experience with Hogan and Petracca who sat out a year before playing for the Dees... maybe they see a benefit in securing him now rather than risk his going elsewhere? -
I disagree that it was just the last few minutes that was exciting. I would have thought the fast start by the Broncos and the way the Cowboys fought back to take the lead in the opening 20 minutes... and then the waves of attack by the Cowboys for the last 20 minutes leading eventually to the leveler. Really there were only about 20 minutes that could have been considered lacklustre (and I've lived in Sydney since 1979, so I do know a little about the game).

As much as I am not a fan of the NRL, it's a shame the Hawks and Eagles couldn't have turned on a game that had the excitement factor that was just seen in the NRL GF between the North Qld Cowboys and Brisbane Broncos. The Cowboys were trailing by 4 points (a try) and right on full time (80th minute) they scored a try in the corner to bring the scores level. The ensuing place kick from the sideline was curving and looked to be heading through between the uprights, but just caught enough of the near post to force the ball back into the field of play and no score. This meant extra time (golden point). Cowboys had first use and kicked the ball towards there scoring end for the Broncos to take possession and attempt to work the play back to their half. Unfortunately, their player dropped the ball, knocking on and the Cowboys got the scrum feed which eventuated in them scoring a field goal and winning by a single point. An unbelievable last few minutes!

I still wouldn't be surprised to see Fitz thrown a lifeline in the rookie draft.

Aren't HG & Roy doing commentary on ABC sports radio?

I get the feeling this will be a major boil-over (hope I'm wrong). Hawks by 60+. Edited to add: Norm Smith = Sam Mitchell First Goal: Luke Breust Most Goals: Gunston.

Perhaps you've accidentally stumbled on a solution to the refugee crisis here WYL... every scumbag found guilty of committing a violent act against a woman could be shipped offshore to Manus (or dropped off the boat en route) and a refugee granted a residential visa.

2015 Player Review - # 37 Aaron vandenBerg (R)
hardtack replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Haha... I couldn't discern goals from games... well they do both start with 'g' and end with 's'. Corrected... but I'm still surprised. -
2015 Player Review - # 37 Aaron vandenBerg (R)

I was actually very surprised to read he has only played 14 games.... that's how much of an impression he made on me, which is miles ahead of Matt Jones and the impression he's made in his 51 games. Aaron's disposal efficiency will improve and already his hard at it contesting of the ball probably sets up enough plays to our advantage to negate his current failings. -
That's you... but give that Freo bogan a skinful and he'll punch your lights out if his team's not doing too well.

It's not simply a reaction to that incident. I have long thought that alchohol at sporting events like the footy where emotions can run high, is not a great thing. I enjoy a drink or several as much as the next person, but for me, I'd rather not see it at the footy. Are you telling me that people couldn't survive three hours at the footy without a drink? At least a pub is a relatively controlled environment... something that the footy most definitely is not.
