POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast
Clayton Oliver is a shadow of his former self. Sad to see and hard to watch.

GAMEDAY: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast
Regardless of the first quarter, going to be uphill with 2 men down, especially as one was our back-up ruck.

They're playing at opposite ends of the ground, it's not zero sum.

No, it's just that selection is based on criteria that none of us are privy to. Just because you don't agree with it or don't understand it, it doesn't mean that these aren't considered choices, and it's relatively easy to come up with arguments as to why the selections are what they are. e.g. Tom is old and on his way out, better to play younger players. You may not agree with that, but it's a valid argument. FWIW, I'd love to see Tom in the team. But I'd rather see Turner, and at the end of the day how many big tall blokes do you really need, it's not as if GC have three gorilla forwards?

Sure, but why not? Isn't this what we're supposed to be doing, exposing the younger players, backing them in to step up?

Where? If you mean up forward, at the moment it's probably a toss-up between Petty and JVR as to who gets dropped, and presumably the thinking is that JVR will get more out of a run in the two's than Petty. I for one would prefer Petty alongside Jeffo than JVR, Petty is a more physical player. If you mean Petty down back, fine but a) is he needed (3rd tall?) and b) that leaves JVR and Jeffo forward and see above.

For god's sake get over it. TMac is old and slow and by his own admission can't jump. He's also a liability when the ball hits the ground. He can hold down 3rd tall position, but so can others. If May was out, it might be a different story, but Tom is never a replacement for Lever. It's also important to keep playing the younger players, there's no future whatsoever in playing Tom.

Turner has passed TMac as second (and third) key defender.

Demonland: We need to play the kids, they're the future. MFC: Plays the kids Demonland: Why aren't we playing one of the oldest guys on the list whose feet are shot?

Your premise is laughable but in any case, these aren't just Goodwin's calls. People here seem to think the club is run like Mooroopna thirds where the coach does everything- including putting out the cones.

Windsor had that foot infection at that critical end-of-pre-season/start-of-season period and has been playing catch-up ever since. I actually thought he might have been rested or given time to refind himself a bit earlier - but reinforcements are thin on the ground, there aren't exactly a heap of players at Casey banging the door down for wing/HB positions.

Luke Jackson back to Victoria?
Usually black.

If we're going to bring in younger players then Melksham has to stay. He's the forward line's Steven May, marshalling the troops and providing the on-field leadership and guidance that they need.

Time to go Goody?
Meanwhile, on a planet far, far away.

Harry McKay leaving Blues?
This. Caveat being that they have footy smarts and are reliable disposers of the footy.
-
Harry McKay leaving Blues?
a) it's not for want of trying and b) A-grade talent is thin on the ground in general, and even thinner on the trade table. Once you take out go-home trades for players heading back to S.A. or W.A., it's slim pickings. On the other hand, we have done very well in the draft, and have been smart in making the draft work for us.

Harry McKay leaving Blues?
One reason why we brought in McAdam. Shame it hasn't gone to plan so far.
-
Time to go Goody?
No. Go back 10 years and we could only dream of current membership figures - which are still the 4th highest in the club's history. If that's a "drastic fall" I can't help you. Perspective.
-
Time to go Goody?
For me, 2 factors that would suggest that a change of coach could be a consideration would be: first 22/required players wanting to leave and/or not re-signing contracts a drastic fall in membership

Time to go Goody?
Also apparently Logan Morris.

TRAINING: Sunday 22nd June 2025
No, we don't practice soccer. It's part of a recovery, minimal-load session to compliment running laps, time in the pool or on an exercise bike etc. etc. It's way of facilitating recovery while keeping players fresh physically and mentally. Plenty here commenting on how short our injury list is. Structured and managed recovery is a key part of that.

Also a problem that you can't really train, it's an in-game issue. Presumably they're doing what they need in terms of psych work, mindfulness yadda yadda.
