  1. rpfc, you've made a typo in our average margin for 2015.... you are 10 points off... It does in fact continue the positive trend: pf pa apf apa amarg ai50f ai50a ai50diff wins ladder 2013 1455 2691 66.1 122.3 -56.2 40.0 58 -18.0 2 17 2014 1336 1954 60.7 88.8 -28.1 40.5 52.1 -11.6 4 17 2015 1573 2044 71.5 92.9 -21.4 44.4 53.4 -9.0 7 13.0
  2. so Newton is injured? nobody noticed best round 1 injury list in about 20 years I reckon
  3. I'm repeating myself a bit here, but why should it be kept in house? Roos wants us as the supporters, and the wider football community, to understand some things: 1. What we lack as an organisation and how we got to be so deep in trouble/dysfunctional in the first place 2. What exactly it is he is working on trying to achieve at the club with his gigantic paycheck 3. The fact that he will be gone soon, but the situation must continue to be monitored He was asked straight out what the situation and he replied with honesty that it wasn't good enough and he was mad about it. He knows we have a talented group of youngsters, but will they grow into a group that will perform as a professional, dedicated, disiplined unit like the Hawthorn and Geelong teams of the last decade - or will they be a group like White, Neitz, Yze, Johnstone, Bruce, Green etc who were pretty good but lacked the steel to go all the way? No disrespect to any of those players individually but as a group they lacked the culture that Roos is trying to instill and that's the difference. Let's not even get into the Moloney/Sylvia/McLean era where we put on a clinic of unprofessionalism and poor culture. Why would you prefer for these discussions to be hidden from public view, there was nothing hidden about all the suffering we have endured as supporters. Bring on the spotlight.
  4. They are lunkhead former players who took several blows to the noggin and now their job is to wear and suit and talk. What do we expect? Oh look here is a stat about players wearing odd numbers vs even numbers let me predict the premiership based on that. Dheads.
  5. did you read any of the 74 posts before yours?
  6. Anybody else feel like Matt Jones deserves a run before Lumumba?
  7. more champagne comedy from Demonland's finest. I want to hear more about how your opinions on club culture are more pertinent than Paul Roos'.
  8. do you realise that is Roos is explicitly telling us that it definitely IS an example of it? This isn't the theory of some random demonland poster. But if you reckon you know better then good for you mate. I just hope the rest of the club has ears that aren't quite as deaf.
  9. wow. well I'm sure you'll appreciate the fact that Jakovich only managed 54 games and did only a fraction of the damage he could have. It is likely his lack of professionalism contributed to this. Is this really the path you want CP to follow, or are you starting to get the point that Roos is making?
  10. Are you being ironic? Because this thread is about being disciplined and having professional standards, so I don't know why you would take the opportunity to mention Jako, a player who was notorious for the exact opposite.
  11. YES! That is correct. Say it back to yourself, without sarcasm, and you actually have it right. Jesus Christ... have you not noticed our lack of resemblance to a professional sporting organisation over many years? Can you not see this is a perfect example of the garbage that Roos was brought in to fix? The fact you have a kid in the organisation who thinks its OK to take a dumb risk like that is indicative of the broader problem. Think about it.
  12. yes I know that, and since you can read you must have noted he also said explicitly "That's not exclusive to Jesse. It's (Angus) Brayshaw and Petracca and (Sam) Weideman." he was obviously asked about JH specifically because he is the focus of our club at the moment
  13. I like it. Roos is here to identify and fix a rotten culture. I'm sure that he is aware that in the years before his arrival we were the type of amateurish organisation that would allow young talent like CP and JH to do as they please. This created a lazy, unaccountable culture and of course a failure of a club. He is sending a message loud and clear that the MFC needs to be run by the professional standards of its competitors - now, and after he is gone.
  14. Doesn't really name Hogan.. he's mentioning the whole group of kids BTW humble pie for everyone who gave CP a pass with their 'boys will be boys' rubbish. There it is in black and white, he was acting a fool
  15. perfect end-to-end footy courtesy of the Melbourne Footy Club
  16. this is as good a thread as any to ask this - is he Weidema fit? is expected t Casey any time soon?
  17. I hate to say it but the pies look like they're going to be good. QB will be a barnburner this year
  18. Like I said, all it means o me is that we know we have a marquee player now because this is the type of over-saturation that occurs when you have one. Even the club trotting him out for a press conference is just them capitalising on the publicity and putting us and Jesse in the spotlight.
  19. Fair comments but I'd add that Salem, Vandenberg, Frost and Gawn all missed plenty of footy last year. Viney missed a fair few and Tyson was allegedly golden-ticketed all year. Fair bit of extra value this year from that group, particularly the critical big Maxy. Dawes and Lumumba added so little last yaer you would think we are almost guaranteed a better return from them! I reckon Watts will finish top 5 in the bluey also. What I'm saying is that it is not just our young guns that we are expecting to improve, it is most of the squad bar the skipper, Vince, Dunn and a couple of others who are at their ceiling. I'd also add that our general depth seems much greater, last year the group of Bail, JKH, M.Jones, Toumpas, Michie, Newton and Grimes played 66 games. That's 3 blokes per week who didn't add much of anything if we're being honest. That equation should be much more favourable this year. There's also the big issue of the attacking gameplan and Goodwin's involvement, which from what we have seen looks promising.11 wins for mine.
  20. This is it. You take your 22 players and subtract the ruckman, and usually the 2nd ruckman/resting forward (Gawn/Pederson). Then you take a specialist small at each end (Garlett, Jetta). Then you take a few secondary/role player types who can't play midfield (Garland/Watts etc). Everybody else that is left is expected to be a midfielder who rotates from the flanks and bench into the middle. Obviously the likes of Jones, Vince and Viney are considered more permanent midfielders, but everybody else needs to have the ability to rotate on and off the ball. For us it is Salem, Kent etc etc and Trengove
  21. but isn't the 'victim' mentality totally justified? I don't think we are looking through some sort of lens that mis-perceives the way the media portrays us. They hate us and take every opportunity to kick us when we're (perpetually) down. Having said that, we are a disgrace and we deserve it. If another club, even one with the history of ours, spent such a long time being so awful I would also have a minimal amount of respect for them. I just realised we are not actually disagreeing on anything. For me, the point is that the media are a fickle bunch, who will float in the slightest hint of a breeze. Go dees :D
  22. yeah with our luck we will have three season ending injuries to key players in the first quarter
