  1. This bit of the article is all haha you suck Melbourne. Totally irrelevant to Morton at West Coast.
  2. Nothing wrong with Morton's comments but I agree the article is timed with our failure in the west. Very much a rub it in piece by the 'journalist'.
  3. Sheedy isn't coaching GWS he just does a bit of coaching whilst being the promotional guy. Last year Williams was coaching them and whilst they weren't hard to beat they were hard to play against. They played a great style of footy and looked set for very good things. This year Leon Cameron has been in charge and they've looked like they've lost ground on where they were last year.
  4. Oh and I will summarize this weeks changes as bail out, sell out, gone out and lick out. Whilst we go for rode in, fits in, strap in and peddle in.
  5. Nice job Dr, very mature of you! Out: Sellar, in Pedersen (deck chairs on the titanic) Out: Bail, in Rodan (not that I rate Rodan but bail needs to work on his game) Out: Gawn, in Fitzy (Gawn isn't going to well, time to try Fitzy) Out: Terlich (inj) in Strauss As we've seen multiple changes doesn't achieve anything. And Pedersen and Fitzpatrick are the two at Casey really making any impact. Rodan I think is next best. We've got some more underperforming forwards at AFL level (Jetta, Tapscott) but I see little point in Kent, Blease or Taggert at this stage.
  6. Thats an insult into forwards. Dunn was no better as a forward, actually he was worse.
  7. Time the club tell the media to go FFS. Nothing they report has any influence on me as a supporter. I get 2 hours every week to watch what any fan needs to see from us.
  8. I think against GWS we clearly showed we have enough fitness to run all over them so we probably aren't the most unfit side. I'm concerned about or power and strength but so much of that comes from attitudes. Jones doesn't lack power or acceleration so where is it from the other mids.
  9. He lifted after my previous post. But such simple errors from a senior player in the first quarter. It's so annoying! We won the third quarter today. Sure Freo were horrible in it and we probably should've still lost the quarter but if we played like that the whole game we would've finished 8-10 goals down not 15. And as sad as that sounds thats the difference between building a team and just wasting time.
  10. Trengove - Played on Mundy N.Jones - Tagged out of it Watts - We have to keep him just because our skills are so bad, but watching him up forward only made me think he's a defender because he's never going to take a strong grab Dawes - Can't really take a strong grab but he's our only probably forward target Frawley - Doesn't have the energy to care anymore which I don't blame him Byrnes - I was wrong when I thought he'd been ok McKenzie - Bit better today, limited Fyfe early but he's miles from a good tagger Dunn - His kickouts were better but that was it, he's footy IQ is about 14 Garland - Competed well today, a few Garlandism kicks etc but you live with it Nicholson - Actually did slightly better on Ballantyne than I expected but his constant desire to shrug tackles is just mind numbing Sellar - I backed him in as a tall defender but way too many mistakes today. Pedersen time (god help us) Evans - Off day from the kid, Mzungu out ran him and he wasn't as clean as he usually is Tapscott - One bump, that's all he's done besides stuff up in the last 2 weeks. No speed, no midfield ability, can't grab a mark. I'm concerned Davey - Again the attacking stuff was fine but nothing hard or defensive. I've seen enough really Gawn - His second half was better but he lacks his energy. Isn't taking marks etc. Time for Fitzy Howe - As a loose man he's ok, don't get carried away. Up forward he's good when in space but can't beat a good opponent. On the wing whenever he gets the ball he gets overly enthusiastic with decision making Jetta - Day started badly when Dawson got him front on and then he tackled Clarke and didn't get holding the ball. But he just can't find it up forward. Time to go back to the VFL to play midfield with aim to being a small defender/mid Jamar - Won the ruck but it was too predictable and around the ground is starting to look like a liability. We have no better options but he needs serious coaching about getting to the right spots to take some marks. Bail - Pointless selecting this guy he's just not in any great form not that he was going to make an impact off the sub bench. His mental thinking aiming for that goal was just a waste of time M.Jones - Needs more defensive work when in the centre/physicality, he found some footy, we move on. Terlich - Shame his injured because once again he was one willing to take the game on. Magner - If you pick this guy as your 21st player starting from the bench you'll have a reasonable side. When he's your third pick midfielder you are in trouble. Had a crack as always.
  11. Not some of the list, but all of the list is horrible overrated
  12. Communications down in melb box. Does this hurt or help us! Can we get the match abandoned due to unfair circumstances Which player will get injured or suspended from here on?
  13. Just doesn't perform under pressure. To be fair he's got plenty of team mates
  14. I've fallen back in hate with Davey and it's the 10 minute mark of the first quarter. 1. Right foot snap he was never going to kick 2. Let Pearce run off him 3. Didn't attack the ball when kicked to him 3 undiscipline acts in 15 minutes
  15. Considering Gawn plays more forward than ruck at the moment you'd think Fitzpatrick has now put his hand up high enough for Gawn's spot in the team if big Max can't produce today. I too am not sold on Fitzy but at the moment I'm looking at our structure of Jamar (ruck), Dawes, Hogan, Clark (ruck/fwd) for next years forward line with Gawn back up ruck. With Spencer looking a lost cause for AFL level and Pedersen and Sellar both looking like defenders I'm thinking Fitzpatrick becomes an important prospect. So he's worth a shot at AFL now for more experience. By the way who played today guys? Did Spencer play? What percentage of Fitzpatrick's goals came from forward compared to ruck?
  16. If he's keen enough to come back to melb and in particularly us then Gold Coast might be satisfied with pick 20 over nothing. And if he went in the PSD with the aim of heading to us I think GWS wouldn't be wise to take him. Like Tippett they didn't touch last year. But it all depends how hard is life is playing with Ablett and a bunch of young stars
  17. Where's the leverage on Dal Santo besides cash? I mean the saints won't cut him and at the saints he gets to play with Montagna, Steven, Armitage, Ross and with us it would be mainly Jones. He's less chance of getting tagged at the saints I'd say. Banfield I think is worth a rookie nothing more. Just to have something different on our list and a bit of speed at training wouldn't hurt. If there's another Matt Jones I'd take him otherwise a third round pick for Colyer/Savage or some of the others mentioned probably isn't a bad investment.
  18. Strauss is in Perth so don't worry too much about that one. Not sure if both or just one of Gillies and Spencer are in Perth as well. For Casey's case I particularly hope Spencer will be be at Geelong. I'd love to see Blease in the backline but I feel it would be throwing the baby out with the bathwater particularly considering he strung good games together up forward last year. Plus Terlich, Watts, Jetta, Clisby and Strauss are all being developed as small defenders. We can't send everyone to the bacline to find form.
  19. I'd love a report on Mitch Clisby, he's battled a few injuries (Hamstring and shin soreness) but when fit has played well and started games racking up the touches. I think he's a cheeky chance for rookie elevation in the second half of the year.
  20. I've thought many a time about Watts getting traded but haven't actually mentioned it in this thread if I recall correctly. Why would you have a problem playing Howe in defense? I'm talking about as a stop gap if there were enough injuries to Frawley, McDonald, Pedo, Garland, Watts, Dunn + a draft pick, so I'm saying 3 or so injuries at least just to that group of players. I'm not talking as a long term move. He is also Neeld's favouirite loose man in the backline as he gets to contests and can impact them on the ground or in the air. With Hogan, Dawes, Clark he is destined to play high forward/wing in my mind anyway. The idea is about focusing on the midfield. In order to do that we need to turn over excessive players on our list. Gillies, Joel Mac and Davis haven't provided us with anything this year and have limited potential IMO so therefore turn them over and replace them with midfielders. Maybe get a 190cm midfielder/defender who can start in the backline group and move into the midfield. Bit like Jackson Thurlow at Geelong.
  21. Leaves us with Frawley, McDonald, Pedersen, Dunn, Watts, Garland and draft a young tall defender (that's 7 guys for 4 spots) plus if there is a horror run with injuries you could use Howe, Hogan or even Fitzpatrick in defense for a short period as a teaching exercise. Not sure why you'd keep Davis, Joel Mac, Gillies or Sellar (if you can't get rid of Pedo and have to keep Sellar) based purely on depth in a team that's along way from depth really being a major concern. I'd much rather use the 3 extra list spots to develop midfielders.
  22. Did you watch the Richmond game? Where did he not show defensive mindset and ability? I certainly saw Garland's man in King get more goals than the combination that Strauss was in. Oh and isn't kicking ability? Hawthorn build a team around focusing on kicking and it goes pretty well for them.
  23. Also why not go with Strauss as sub and play him half back/wing compared to Bail. We'll be 10 goals down may as well say to Strauss lets see what you can produce as an impact player focusing on attack no defense.
  24. Totally agree Only thing is Strauss didn't have 10-15 touches had much fewer including one to half time I think. Which indicates he isn't working hard enough to get the ball. But defending is his main job. Watts is going to have to win and use the ball but more than anything show some defensive mindset and ability otherwise Neeld would've made yet another mistake
  25. Yes for what I have seen of Mitch brown he doesn't seem like a top line player and hence gets replaced by Schofield, McKenzie and Glass as west coasts best defenders. We won't have millions of draft picks up our sleeve so I'd rather keep the defenders we have and focus on the midfield
