  1. We should sneak in and rookie Cooper Murley in the rookie draft before Collingwood get a chance. Putting national draft picks through the rookie list is very cheeky and should be punished.
  2. Rosman couldn’t kick or win the ball. Didn’t play in any offical games in his draft year due to covid. Was drafted on the back of 1 preseason game. Allan’s played 5 Colts games this year averaging 25 touches and a decent champs game on the wing. It’s a far bigger sample size
  3. He kicks more goals as well but leadership is the most important attribute Cripps has over Oliver. Head to head I’m taking Clarry of course but there’s an argument that Cripps has the weight of an entire club on his shoulders and should be factored in to his ranking. As Clarry continues to mature he’ll get better in that aspect and the Brownlow votes will flow and anyone questioning his ranking will be silenced.
  4. Assuming you mean Mitch, then yes, I agree.
  5. Ed Allan isn't just the best choice for us at pick 13, I'm starting to think he's the best player in the entire draft. I didn't really want to start a thread because Hawthorn or Geelong will probably take him with picks 6 or 7, if not, the Eagles will pounce at 8 or worst case 12 - hence their trade down. But maybe, just maybe, clubs will be worried about the small sample size, lack of representative or highly level footy and injury and he'll slide to 13. Here's the case: 1. Size: He's a 195cm - that's Bont, Cripps, Goodes kind of stuff. At 82kg's he'll fill out well too. 2. Athleticism: He just ran a seriously quick 2.81 20m sprint, one of the quickest times ever recorded and has very good endurance too. 3. Production Off an interrupted preseason with stress fractures in his back he averaged 25 disposals from 5 games in the WAFL colts 4. Pedigree Son of Hawthorn B+F winner and Freo captain Ben Allan. 5. This video. I just can't stop watching it: a. Lovely right foot set shot b. Weighted left foot kick on his non preferred c. Quick hands under pressure, gets the ball well clear of tackler, receiving player makes it look worse d. Weaves on to his left and puts it right on his tall forward e. Hits up a forward, or 2 forwards really, who can't seem to get the ball f. quick play on through the corridor g. makes his decision on the run for a lovely diagonal kick h. plays on, lowers eyes for the hit up i. regulation handball, whatever j. I love this one, pulls a handball once, then fires it again on his left to hit the runner in stride I watched the full WA v SA state game that he played in, as well as the WAFL Colts grand final last year. Both games he played on a wing and was fine. He's not a natural wingman IMO. He holds position well but is fairly passive in waiting for the ball to come to him (think James Jordon) rather than looking for those Langdon type moments to really insert himself in to play. He's also not a great mark for his size. Gets a bit flummoxed in loose ball situations too. But look at this, Claremont stuffed up their rotations at one stage and he ended up in the ruck, look at the vision and execution of this handball on his non preferred at 1:28:57 He'll need some time to fill out and round out his marking and contested work but those things can be taught by good coaches. It's much harder to teach high level decision making and skills. And you can't just create gun athletes either. Want to replace Luke Jackson with a big bodied midfielder (not ruck) who can do special things - this is the guy.
  6. I know he’s currently in London on holidays but the club should arrange for Echuca/Mooroopna’s favourite son to send a message of support for those doing it really tough at home with the floods.
  7. Sibosado! That’s a blast from the past. I’d hope he’s a little more well rounded and competitive than him. Generally I don’t like making player comparisons from the same race (not having a go at you) but I can’t help but see homebrand version Paddy Ryder in this guy. So similar physically and in style. I doubt our recruiters will want to use pick 13 on waiting 4+ years to see if he can be the real version. I think he’ll go to a team in the 20’s who have the time to develop him.
  8. So if they can renegotiate extra years then why make them carry the existing cap burden? Gold Coast could’ve done that with Bowes too. We’ve done that with players such as Tom McDonald, Gawn and Lever too I believe. Happened with Brodie and Peter Wright too. It seems to me like the Suns priced Bowes at 800k and didn’t even factor the Cats extending him. And would it even solve the issue? If Geelong are forced to pay Bowes 1.6 over 2 and then do a deal with him to pay him 400k for the 2 years after that, what’s stopping them just back ending Cam Guthrie or Jack Henry or whoever else they have a long term deal? Take 100k per year from 2 players and move it to the back of their deals and you get the same smoothing.
  9. We don’t really need anything from the draft even if there’s some positions that would be nice to fill. Key forward, a lockdown back pocket and some mid/forward class are the 3 positions that might be the shakiest in the best 22, but there are some potential answers on the list as well as future trade options. But on the other hand ideally Gawn and May could do with young replacements developing even if that’s our strongest positions. The most inside of inside mids in Viney would be our last need but if we drafted a kid now in 3 years time that spot probably opens up. Bowey/Laurie were reported as needs and the list did need that balance (even if results are 50/50). Same with JVR and the importance of a key forward. Good choices to fill gaps at the time. But the absolute last thing the Tigers needed when they drafted Shai Bolton was a small forward. Now he’s a major reason why they’re topping up rather than rebuilding. The best possible player should be the focus of the first 2 rounds of the draft, use late picks to look for needs.
  10. I don’t get this. If you make a change to allow lopsided trades you have to expect them to happen. Similarly it’s unfair on the player getting traded to ban them from being able to extend their contact. That goes against their free will to negotiate. This is only an issue because gold coast put such a great pick with Bowes. If they offered up pick 20 he’d be at Essendon or Hawthorn and no one would be worried I’d propose 2 changes 1. Limit the amount any one player can be backloaded to stop players becoming expendable dumps to begin with. I’d say 20% loading at most 2. Sort the gold coast suns out and just ban them from being stupid
  11. Third, I assume you forgot Cordy. All 5 of their list changes so far are sons of former VFL/AFL players

  13. Is Phillipou? Given he’s nearly a year younger than many of the kids in the draft he looks adequate size to me. There’s some weight in his hips. Looks like he’ll fill out very easily once he stops growing taller and gets in to a full time program. I don’t see rangy at all.
  14. I don’t think they’re worried about immediate depth, they traded those guys to be bad enough to get more high picks, ideally top 5 so they can get a Dusty, Tracc, Clarry, Bont level of game changing talent. They have half a dozen really good young players but no game breakers. Recent top 10 picks in Ward and DGB included. Maybe that means they grab another nice player this year before tanking it the next 2 years. But I think they’ll shoot high with their draft pick this year. That means Humphrey, who I thinks a top 3 talent, if not higher if his set shot goal kicking didn’t look like a Tracc lowlight reel. Ginbey, Phillipou probably appeal to them too.
  15. Pretty good performance this without 5 first choice players.
  16. Points bet Betr Sportsbet Bet 365 Points bet again Classic AFLW adbreak from Kayo
  17. Hanks just changed foot mid kick. So fun to watch her skills
  18. Eliza West just shouldn’t be this good for someone who’s played so little footy. Wilson down back is a bit hit and miss with the ball but seems very willing Gorgeous kick from Lampy there
  19. He got better as the season went on, so it’s worth another year to see if he can produce more of what they saw in him. It’s just hard work to make it as a back flanker with below average speed and not being a huge ball winner. But what he did start to show a bit and why I believe they drafted him was his class. Can always do with more classy users.
  20. Richie Douglas pressing his claim to fame to get on Adelaide sports radio is not what I’d call a good judge. Soligo’s a nicely balanced smaller mid who should have a solid career due to his versatility, clean skills and footy smarts. He isn’t anything close to JHF.
  21. I’m not saying we haven’t done very well, we have, and Santa Teresa’s good. Not sure it compares to running the KGI. Richmond had a RAP in ‘11, we started in ‘17. We also punched the Narrm idea from the Storm and then upgraded it. Multiple clubs wanted Jurrah, we just had first crack in the draft. I wouldn’t exactly hold him or Harley Bennell up as success stories though.
  22. Mostly the KGI, which does great work. Players from other clubs go their to contribute. Xavier Clarke by far the most prominent Indigenous coach, and perhaps the only one who’s full time? Marlion Pickett hasn’t missed a beat since coming over. The fact they took a chance on Stack when no one would and got him up and going in year 1. They fully commit to the dream time game and you can see much their whole squad value it https://www.codesports.com.au/afl/richmond/richmonds-15year-long-transformational-dance-towards-reconciliation-started-with-the-korin-gamadji-institute/news-story/a2a0135883866639cff1b63d40a5ac38
  23. That said, he can train on with us. But that’s all I’d offer.
  24. Richmond have the best Indigenous set up in the country. If they don’t think he’s worth the hassle any more than he probably isn’t. Look at his VFL stats, he should’ve built fitness and got consistent games later in the year and he never did.
  25. With the soft cap rising I hope we’d be looking at making a coaching hire even if Yze stays. Ratten would be a great pick up. The Casey gig might go back to full time. Sam Radford in the role again? I like the idea of giving recently retired players some part time coaching because you get to learn fresh things and they provide energy. You aren’t hiring them for technical coaching skllls. No idea if they’re interested in coaching but Shane Edwards, Kane Lambert and Jarryn Geary are three I’d sit down with.
