  1. I can see him fitting in nicely at the end of a short and sharp run and carry sequence.
  2. Last year the list had Jack Nicholson at #8. Unless the Ratings Panel has undergone serious personnel changes it cannot be taken seriously.
  3. McLean, Johnstone, Carroll, Bartram, Pickett and possibly Rivers. Miller and Yze participated but on current form should not be regarded as "certain first round selections".
  4. More likely it'll be low 30's and sunny, you'll have to work a bit harder on the beers.
  5. Yze's problem is that he takes the "clever" (quick) option rather than the one which might involve putting his body on the line. This sort of mindset has helped his quest for consecutive games, however the way he's travelling he might spoil it all by being omitted.
  6. Might be a bit of relief from the carry and run too with Princes Park having the classic cricket ground configuration. It's those grounds with the straight boundaries that are causing all the strife and consternation. If they have pass-outs I might even think about going.
  7. If it goes to the Tribunal and is confirmed he gets six weeks. The Club may well see its way to leaving well-enough alone. The only mitigating factors are the apparent lack of injury and absolutely conclusive vision of the incident.
  8. There's an inequity here, eg if two players each got 3 weeks for belting each other in NAB Cup Round One and one player's team went on to play in the Grand Final he'd be right for the Home and Away season whereas the other bloke would still have his 3 weeks to serve. There'd be some sort of match payment discrepancy as well. Just seems a bit silly to me. Should be the same for everyone.
  9. Hear hear! The fact is they've won 2 of the last 9. It's becoming a bit too routine for mine.
  10. I don't think it helps much having a Midfield Specialist Coach whose background is ugly, lock-down, one-on-one, accountable footy.
  11. 5AA may not have the rights to stream the match but we'll still be able to listen to KG and Cornsey's post-mortem. We can only hope the boys from Vic kick some Crow ass. I tried driving around in the car listening to 1395AM but only occasionally was there a snatch of anything which could have resembled a footy broadcast (the opera was good though).
  12. If you mean the weekend after the coming weekend might I suggest strongly that you should take these matters one week at a time.
  13. There is discussion of the ground on the Demons Board at Big Footy; apparently it is the biggest in the local comp. Hard to know whether it has a SA sardine can configuration (120m straight-line wings) or if it tends more toward a Victorian style classic oval shape. The surface has been subject to check a couple of times. If it's not up to standard the AFL leaves itself liable in event of injury and consequent law suits.
  14. No, he backed the Dees to beat Freo TWICE.

  16. I read that the Demons handballed 199 times yesterday. This is, pro-rata, 227 handballs for a standard 20 minutes plus time-on game. Last year the Eagles headed the handball avarages with 157 per match. The Demons averaged 125. The season record was 226, again by the Eagles. Is this a sign of things to come?
  17. Not so Fan. I had a look at our worst 6 performances for 2006 and consistently among the worst performers in those games were White, Robertson and Neitz. Also prominent were Rivers, Jamar, Sylvia, Holland and Carroll. None of them really have any excuses.
  18. THe most salient feature of the side selected is that is has NO facility for midfield rotation of any sort. Both of PJ and Neaves surely won't play. Your multiple defensive options will have to make way for some run.
  19. Very nice sauteed with a bit of garlic.
  20. Not in "Strawbs" O'Dwyer's (pre-trim) league. I suppose the poor fella copped all the usual "Dumbo" and "taxi doors open" sledges. This is probably why Jeff White had his trimmed down.
  21. Ivor Warne_Smith was handy and Fred Fanning chucked it in at 25 when his best had probably not been seen.
