  1. I think the word you're looking for is "inciteful", is it a word?
  2. The flash explosion didn't really happen until about 18 months ago. It was about that time when Macromedia Flash sold out to Adobe. Is it just possible that during the period of which I speak various professional webmasters have been copping freebies? So I admit hat it's actually Macromedia which has lot to answer for. The software facilitates irresponsible and thoughtless web design.
  3. It is Adobe who put the figurative loaded gun in the hands of so many fools. Of course I don't imagine that the company would have envisaged the creation of aberrations such as the AFL site. It's a lot like Frankenstein and his monster. Sites like Youtube are already choking the internet with absolute rubbish. We should ask ourselves "How would the AFL website be without Flash Animation?"
  4. Another cunning Daniher device: "hide" the blokes with OP in the Forward Pocket. I mean Moloney has absolutely no credentials at all. SYLVIA NEITZ NEWTON has a much more threatening look.
  5. And in the year of the exception (Deledio) our bloke, young Brock, was arguably leading the award when he fell at the last few hurdles with injury. McLean had played 9 the year before.
  6. Recent history BBP shows that 4 of the past 5 Rising Stars played the year before they won. Petterd of course could buck this trend.
  7. Neither Jones nor Petterd were listed when last weeks Darwin board closed around wednesday. Petterd would have been a lot better than $15.00 last week and Jones as a saver is worth a big go too. Exceptional value, I'm tempted to open a Sportsbet account right now.
  8. He could do a lot worse than watch Fevola's control of ball to foot. The footy does not move. To hit a target you think "ball" rather than "target". Watch and you'll see his eyes are up at impact.
  9. Jeff was playing on a serotonin-adrenalin cocktail after the birth of his son. We'll re-evaluate his performance next week.
  10. Godfrey has a better understanding of the inherent physics.
  11. Cam seems to think that a good boot is somewhere around the middle of the pill. This is with the ball dropped back and flat. No, to get control of a ball, in any sport, one controls spin. Bruce needs to hit the ball lower and softer. It's dead simple.
  12. Adobe has a lot to answer for. A Flashy website is not necessarily a superior one. Whilst more colourful than its predecessor it is perhaps even more inept. Probably a lot of footy fans would be happy with a straight text presentation but of course this would preclude advertising options. Heaven forbid.
  13. Probably following those old Jack Nicholson tapes a bit too closely.
  14. As I posted elsewhere, 2.8 from set shots (not including other shots which failed to register) is not gonna win you many games.
  15. He's not competing with Miller. There's no comparison. Newton is a genuine forward whereas Miller is at best some sort of compromise. At 0-6 it's time to cut out the quibbling and look to the future.
  16. Even some ordinary kicking would have been good. Set shots were 2.8 and there were a couple that missed the lot or didn't quite get there. I reckon Big Juice has earnt at least a nomination on the extended bench. With Harris taking Neitz, Newton could do well on the shorter Bulldog backs.
  17. AT 3/4 time the Dees are statistically well in front across the board but this does not show on the scoreboard. DUNN 1 kick 4 handballs 0 marks. MILLER 1 clanger kick 2 handballs 2 marks (benched for most of the third and starts the last on the pine).
  18. On the other hand we have Dunn with 2 handballs and Miller with 1 and 2 (at half time). The game generally being played on Melbourne's terms but Port's goals are coming a lot easier. That said it's not over yet.
  19. Melbourne's first forward possession at the 15 minute mark first quarter despite 6 inside 50's.
  20. I should have finished with "Who would have thought?". It isn't just Ward and Godders either, how many Demons can consistently hit a moving target at 35m as often as a dozen of the Bulldogs can?
  21. Who would have thought? So foot skills are a high priority at Melbourne.
  22. So would I. Even if he's a little down on condition I'd imagine him being very handy off a HFF.
  23. My guess would be 1991.The player I have in mind had been unimpressive in his debut and had played 3 in the reserves.
  24. Speaking of faces Biz hasn't really put in a decent game since he had his caved-in.
  25. Does not seem like it's ever going to happen (bar accident). It's asking a lot of a 193cm youngster, used to playing as a specialist forward, to impress as a wingman or half-back flanker. Perhaps it's neither doing his chances much good. Might he not even be better off back in the twos? With Dutchy at CHB it must be the tallest HB line to ever hit the field in a VFL game.
