  1. Sign that the air conditioning is working when it shouldn't be.
  2. After they lose the last game, and miss out by .0000001%. F them.
  3. Our equivalent (Spargo) has as many tricks I reckon. Difference is that it looks like Charlie is always thinking team first, where this Richmond bloke just does whatever is natural to him.
  4. This lions cats game could go either way. Cats aren't much chop but lions lack composure (sounds similar to last Saturday night). A lions win would be huge, but pee me off at the same time as, if we won last week, it would've ended the cats' season.
  5. Would be interesting to see every team's record vs the sides not in the 8. From what I can see, we've only dropped 3 games against teams currently outside, for an aggregate of 7 points.
  6. Can you please inform me of tonight's lotto numbers? I need to know which ones NOT to play...
  7. It's totally possible that we can beat Adelaide, Gold Coast and Sydney in the run home, and end the year in the finals without beating any other team that's playing finals. That would do some heads in on this site.
  8. For many it won't mean anything as they will spin it so that Adelaide isn't deemed "a scalp". The fact they aren't in the 8 currently will add ammo to their case. It's just the type of operators some are. I'm glad I'm not like them.
  9. While we will all be barracking for some sides to beat others (as much as we wished we wouldn't have to do that this year), there's going to be a lot of sides hoping we beat our opponent or our opponent beats us. The hopes of about 7 clubs hinge on the results of many of our remaining games. We're not alone in this boat. It's great, but also killing me.
  10. This is obviously as of today's ladder. When we beat North and Adelaide, they were both in the 8.
  11. If Hawthorn drop out, will the blame the Brisbane loss for them missing out? If Geelong drop out, will they blame the Bulldogs loss? If Sydney drop out, will they blame the Gold Coast loss? Every one of the teams that are in the "at risk" area have lost games they shouldn't have. Other than the bottom couple, anyone can beat anyone on their day (even one of the bottom ones, Gold Coast, beat a potential finalist last week). The top sides seem to find a way to win these games, which is why they are a top side. We're not a top side...yet...
  12. It's a tough one. On one hand, Sydney have a very tough draw, and a loss tonight could help their slide. On the other hand, Essendon's draw would seem to be easier than ours, so a win tonight could see them get in front of us and be hard for us to run down. That said, I don't really rate the Bombers, so I can see them dropping some of the "easier" games that they have.
  13. We are crying out for leaders, and with our balls on the line for the next 5 games, you are wanting to drop our most experienced (both in games and finals experience)? It was interesting to hear him talk about the moment late in the game where he gave Menzel that space. Lewis was watching the play unfold, and immediately thought that if it was him (Lewis) coming out of the backline, the first place he would've kicked it would've been down the guts. That's where he placed himself. He also thought that allowing Menzel to lead to the boundary was a high % play from him (Lewis), as it would chew time off the clock, as well as making the kick out of the backline needing to be spot on. History would show that he made the wrong decision. But I would guarantee that ANB, Brayshaw, Petracca, et al wouldn't have that brain. (It's worth watching the replay of "that" play - where did Hawkins take that contested mark and handball to Duncan? EXACTLY where Lewis was standing when the ball was coming out of the backline prior to the Menzel mark).
  14. Lewis? Dropped on game 299? Ruthless (or stupid, I'll let you decide). Just looked at the Changes for This Week thread, you also had T Smith, Wagner and AVB in the team. So there's another 3 you need to drop to be replaced by them. 6 changes. Wow.
  15. 4 weeks ago, Bulldogs beat Geelong by 2 points. 2 weeks ago, Melbourne beat Bulldogs by 50 points. 1 week ago, Geelong beat Melbourne by 2 points. Old Dee, your argument is so illogical.
  16. So that's; In; Pedo, Kent, Weed Who's out?
  17. As I said in a different thread, the last time we played Adelaide, Vince played on Lynch, and gave him a bath. I can't see why we wouldn't do that again. If Harmes plays, he has to go to Sloane. I'm quite confident about this game. I was concerned how our young midfield would compete against a strong, mature midfield last week, and they bloody near dragged us over the line. I don't think Adelaide's midfield bats as deep as Geelong's, so I'm confident we can at least draw level in this area, which will go a long way to us winning. I think across the park, we match up very well, and feel that we are ready to win a game like this.
  18. Didn't Vince play on (and smash) Lynch last time we played them?
  19. The Darwin game didn't seem to hurt him last week vs Bulldogs.
  20. Hey Daniel, don't suppose you were standing down the city end on Saturday night?
  21. The first thing they could do would be to ban heavy beer and spirits being served at the game. Don't get me wrong, I love having a couple of beers, and my wife a whine. While you're not asking for trouble by serving the range of alcohol that they do, it's definitely a factor. That said, I'd be willing to not drink at all if I knew it would eliminate any potential altercations (either verbal or physical). Sadly, with my experience against Geelong, the jerks that go out of their way to annoy my night are more often than not sober.
  22. I support my team with great passion, and never have a personal thing to say, or make any action, toward any other supporter. I went last night, was up the other end from this incident. As soon as Tuohy kicked the goal, I had some clown clap at me (basically in my face). It was totally unnecessary, I had not spoken a bad word, nor addressed or acknowledged him (or any other supporter for that matter) at all during the night. He's lucky that I'm a lover and not a fighter. This sort of crap is asking for trouble. He would've been the first one to whinge if he copped one on the nose, which could've happened if I was someone different. It's also worth noting that this is the 2nd or 3rd incident this season at a Geelong game. I know from my personal experience that their supporters ask for trouble with the way they act. I'm glad I'm better than that to respond with violence, but I'm not surprised that others do. I have had enough of going to Kardinia Park. I don't deserve to have my night out at the footy ruined by idiots, just because I'm a passionate supporter in "enemy territory".
  23. We would need results to go our way of we only win 12 (Gold Coast and one other). We can lock in a spot if we win 13 in my view (Gold Coast plus 2 others). I just hope that loss to the Saints isn't what cost us. I'm still continually amazed at the people saying that we don't deserve to play finals if we can't beat sides higher than us. I doubt Collingwood supporters would be saying the same thing, yet they haven't beaten anyone above them as yet. f we win enough games to finish 8th, and that means we haven't beaten anyone above us, then doesn't that just say what we are - the 8th best team in the comp? And if we're the 8th best team, doesn't that mean we deserve to play finals, given it's for the top 8 teams?
  24. I felt it as a tale of two halves for our mids last week. Yes, they were dominant in that second half (especially the 3rd quarter), but the depth of the Doggies' mids is nowhere near what Geelong will bring Saturday night. If they play well, Ablett/Danger/Selwood can kill us, but the issue for them is that they haven't really played well together at all this year. Oliver is more than likely going to cop a hard tag from S Selwood, so the result of that match up will go a long way in telling us what the outcome of the game will be. We are going to need our defenders to play a big game here. If we can limit the damage of Hawkins and Menzel, and rebound the best we ever have, then I think we will win. So in answer to the OP, I think we need to add to our midfield depth for this game. If Hannan can play well, I'd stay with him because he has got pace, can mark overhead, hit a target by foot and hit the scoreboard from limited opportunities. If Hannan doesn't play well, then he's a liability for this game. Amazing, this is one of the first times this season I've been hoping Billy Stretch was available!
