  1. As long as Joel's not being caught out spending company dollars on the 3Ps (porn, punt and prostitutes).
  2. And that's why I was content with what we paid for Lever. We are three years away from needing to worry about youth coming through.
  3. As a forward, Tom Mc hasn't reached his potential yet. He has shown glimpses of "something", is it potential or just cameos? I think potential. Harmes has reached his ceiling in my opinion. ANB, I think he may be the same. I also think Hannan, even though he has been in the system for jus 12 months, I'm not sure how much there is left. (Nb. This isn't necessarily a criticism of any of these players, because as it stands, they are more than serviceable "best 22", so it will take improvement from those lower than them to replace them, which is a good situation to be in). I'm 12 months out from knowing about Stretch and JKH. I think they have potential, but could end up being depth. Stretch's attitude will at least give him the best possible chance to succeed. I have concerns about Kent, Wagner and Weed.
  4. Let's hope we don't need contingencies then!!!
  5. Contingency planning more than anything, AF. TMc as moved forward in 2017 because of circumstances, taking our best key defender out of his preferred position. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We've tried Frost forward with minimal success at best. OMc is suited down back. Thoughts were that depending on match-ups, injuries, form and other circumstances, I could easily see Lever playing that swing role, adding further value to his worth. By no means am I proposing he starts full forward, Rd 1 2018.
  6. While it was said mostly TIC, I do think that style of defensive structure will further highlight Lever's strengths. Neita also used to dominate at CHB. Went on to become our greatest goal kicker. I actually don't see T McDonald failing as a forward. He's a very disciplined player, and I would expect a summer with the forward group will see him grow in to that line very well. Our spine is looking very, very strong.
  7. The diamond defence will make Lever a Brownlow favourite. Not sure if it's been raised in this thread (I haven't read this thread at all), but is there a potential of Lever floating forward? While I'm not big on taking a player out of a position that they are dominating in, just wondered what peoples thoughts are on this (similar to what Geelong have tried with Harry Taylor).
  8. Their dignity, as well as any success in the period of time starting from 2018 onwards. I shouldn't say that, he fell in to their laps, but the rest of their trading strategy in recent years will cripple them for a long time. Excellent.
  9. Didn't hurt Geelong when Ablett and Bartel won theirs. When I read the question in the thread title, I immediately thought the Oliver is by far and away our best chance, but he'd need to start washing the umpires cars as I don't think he's their favourite player. Then I realised Dustin Martin wasn't really well liked, but he nearly pinched one last year and will likely win it this year. So with that in mind, Oliver could win one in 3-5 years.
  10. Womens tennis is good for one thing, and one thing only. But that one thing is not so good for my eyesight so I have been told. On the flip side, I could hear a cat fart 3 blocks down from my place.
  11. 0 tackles tonight. only player in our team to register a donut in that column. Love his guts though!
  12. Col, if you check closely in the background of my pic, you will see Daisycutter holding up a sign as a show of support for his lady friends...
  13. Long time reader. first time poster on this thread (I think!). But, it would be remiss of me not to acknowledge our female posters, and those that are a bit unsure (you know who you are), on this day, International Women's Day for 2017. At the risk of getting in to a political argument, it's great to see so much publicity these days trying to get gender equality to the levels that it should be, because without the wonderful women in our life, none of us would be here today.
  14. Who would be our coach if this happened?
  15. I would actually say that he is the most versatile of our mids. Can play inside, outside, and can go forward and hit the scoreboard. You would expect/hope Petracca would become our most versatile in due course, but Dom has him, and the rest of them, covered for versatility at this stage. I mentioned recently that Tyson reminds me of Bartel in that he will likely get pushed out of the inside mids group, not because he is significantly weaker than the others, but more that he can play just as effective in other roles. If by some fluke we were able to get Kelly, I would love to see Purple's face when the trade is signed off, given how vocal he was when the initial trade of Tyson/Pick 9 for Pick 2 took place.
  16. I said a few years ago that Tyson would make some of our other midfielders look good, and still am of that opinion. He's almost got a bit of Jimmy Bartel about him. Very selfless, can bring other players in to the game. I rarely go the early crow, but I've seen enough of Dom to know he will be a regular best player for us for many years.
  17. We will be the first ones that he turns down? So much for being a "destination club"!
  18. All I care about for next year's draft is who will be available at pick 18 when we have our first pick.
  19. Haven't seen much of Dec, other than what's on the highlights tape on the MFC website. The kid looks like a genuine swingman, which will be awesome. Have a feeling that he will fast become Uncle Bitter's favourite, given how much he likes his swingers...
  20. I guess "officially" it now is. Unofficially, I'll be still livid come draft night when the cheats read out the first player for the night. I just hope to Christ that we don't lose to them next year.
  21. And there it is... http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-11-11/jobe-watson-hands-back-2012-brownlow-medal Watch how he will be treated as some kind of hero now. Will be sickening.
  22. Presumably for the better for us. Which would then validate my thinking of not upgrading the two rookies this year.
  23. See bolded part above, Stuart. Again, go and annoy someone else.
  24. We currently have 1 spare spot on our list. If Dunn leaves that leaves us with one other list change that we must make to go to the draft. Presumably this would be Dawes. If that's the case, we have 3 "live" picks, currently 57, 59 and 84. If we upgrade both Wagner and Smith, it means we are using Pick 59 on one of them. I personally would rather give Taylor a crack at a "speculative potential" player at 59, rather than looking for something in the rookie draft.
