  1. That is a telling statistic. It is also the number of testicles owned by Barry Dawson. I'm off him now. He can stay in the western suburbs.
  2. That was not easy. I hated leaving Bennell out of the backline, and I'm looking forward to seeing Strauss play off half back. I was relieved to read that this is under that the assumption that players will rotate through the midfield at times. I think this poll, like many discussions on the forum, highlights the depth we're starting to get at MFC. I really like all of the players you listed, except for one, and I really hope he has a break-through year. I won't name him b/c I have made a vow not to rubbish any of our players just in case they read the site.
  3. Sold. A good sentiment and maybe possible. I just need to add that even my initial comment was not meant to write the kid off, just to draw attention to the lack of perspective some people have.
  4. I have no problem with Majak playing for the Dees even though he's from Africa, but now that Scott West is on board, are we going to start letting people from the western suburbs play for Melbourne?
  5. Doesn't Cuz hang out with Bikies?
  6. Yeh righto... ding dong bell, blah blah blah... I'm not saying he shouldn't be given a second chance, and I'm not saying we shouldn't pick him. I'm just trying to put across the point that there are some rotten dirty inequities when it comes to how people judge others. I wish Taylor the very best of luck. If he becomes a Demon I will enjoy watching him play and I will probably come to love him. I just hope that he doesn't let a team (and may the Good Lord forbid, the AFL) down by getting drunk and making an ass of himself, or by enjoying a bit of cocaine whilst captaining a premiership side and winning a Brownlow, or, I suppose, the much lesser offense, of committing an armed robbery the night before a final.
  7. I'm no member of the PC crowd, but does anyone else see the irony in the treatment of blokes like Ben Cousins (recreational drug use) and Fevola (Dickheadedness while drunk at the Brownlow) while we all sit here and brush aside the fact that kid is a convicted armed robber? Here's one for you: Barry Dawson: 21 y/o 188cm 92kg Due for parole from max security prison in November. Serving time for axe-murdering his mother in law. Superb disposal either foot and a handy pack mark. Only drawback is lack of endurance since commencing the methadone programme. Should go in the top 30 picks. Highly fancied by Collingwood.
  8. I watched the youtube footage. He appears to move slowly, but it's quite deceptive, as you see blokes chasing him hard and they don't catch him. I hope we get him. I could see him monstering some blokes in 3 years time when he weighs about a 100 keg.
  9. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Playing the 'Do you love me?' game with a player from another team is starting to really irritate me. If, before Luke Ball was on the market, someone asked you (anyone on the site) to: "List the 22 players from other teams that you would most like to see come to the Dees next year": How many of us would have had Ball in that 22? I know I have pulled the number 22 out of thin air, but seeing as that's how many players fit on a park it seems reasonable.. The name 'Luke Ball' would not have been on anyone's wish list. Now that he might be available, some of our passionate and loyal Dees fans have let themselves be swept along in the emotional tempo surrounding this prospective trade and have lost sight of what Ball is: a reasonable on-baller. And I emphasise 'is' - don't get back to me with what he 'was': a gun midfielder. Those days have probably passed. To get back to what I've quoted from Distance Demon - The last thing this club needs is to go through yet another round of rejection by another club's player. I still hate Judd for the imperial manner in which he dismissed our club. We don't need Luke Ball, and frankly, I'm sick of hearing about him. Our midfield will be a wrecking machine inside the next four years, and Ball will be finished whether he had come to Melbourne or not.
  10. Barry is slightly worried that those pricks over at Adelaide are already courting this kid: "You're great, we love you, we know you have to go to Melbourne, but please know that we're here for you the first time you get dragged for hitting Wattsy on the wrong [censored]..."
  11. I think Jurrah's a star because supporters of other clubs are already talking about how exciting he is. On the other hand, I don't think Jurrah's yet been as useful as a player as Brent Moloney, and yet I don't consider Moloney a star b/c it's really only us who would rave about him. Barry loves Brent Moloney
  12. Bailey has often said that he wants to get games into the young blokes 'together'. I wonder if he will also get them playing in the positions he thinks they'll eventually fill, straight away. e.g. Playing Watts down back would not really help to fine tune the forward line into what it will eventually be, particularly if Watts is going to be the/a key target. I imagine it will take some time for the forward line to learn where to run to and get a feel for each other's games. I can't believe I'm reading this bloody site every day and it's October FCS! I am so pumped about the upcoming year. I want to see us make the eight. Just get at least one final into the younglings. I think it's possible...
  13. Fair enough, Junior's also a very good captain. I was just a bit misty eyed at Aaron's re-signing for 4 years and at Beamer's heart-felt acceptance speech at the B&F.
  14. Barry likes this! Facebook shining through!
  15. ....... Serhat Temel..... Barry now cowers in a shower of eggs thrown by fellow Dees supporters...
  16. I agree. Some of placements are based on next year, rather than 2-3 years down the track. One day though... One day!
  17. I know I'm a good show to get pasted for this, but I've been watching the Dees on YouTube and I'm planning on being cryogenically frozen until the start of next season. Just like Cartman waiting for the release of the Nintendo Wii, I can't bear the wait. Here's my team for Round 1 next year. Very hard to assemble. A combination of getting the young kids out there and also getting our seasoned players out there with them. Would love to see others give their MFC 2010 dream team. FB: Bennell Frawley Cheney HB: Grimes Warnock Rivers C: Scully McDonald Bruce HF: Green Bate Sylvia FF: Petterd Jamar Jurrah Foll: Spencer Davey© Moloney(VC) IC: Trengove Watts Morton Jetta Our backup in the case of inevitable injuries and match-up changes (how's the depth!!!???): Martin Jones (why couldn't I fit this legend in?) Dunn Johnson Miller McKenzie Maric Meeson Not yet sighted, or have had long injury runs (and would love to see them back): Garland Wonn..errr Wonna... em.. you know Blease Strauss Rohan Bail I'm Big Kev: Excited.
  18. I really like this site b/c people are allowed to say what they think and rarely get personally attacked for it. Please don't change. I copped the same criticism from some moron on another thread... the 'seniority' bullsht. Fortunately some of us have practiced a fair bit of social interaction outside of using this forum. I'm sure if Dean Bailey came on here and made his first ever post, his points would be listened to despite his forum rookie status. I'm certainly no Dean Bailey when it comes to football knowledge, probably very few of us are. I love talking about footy though, and I love hearing people's opinions. I don't even look at how long they've been a member or how many posts they've made. To the admins: Great site. Keep it up.
  19. That's reassuring! I'd love to have Luke Ball at the Dees, but only if he wants to come across. It does strike me as odd, however, that a full time professional athlete had not thought about his options and had written off Melbourne as shyte without considering our list-to-be. In any case, I work a full time job, and love to follow the Dees as a hobby. Luke Ball, on the other hand, is making his career out of the game. If he decides against coming to our club, I would never hold it against him. After all, he needs to make the best of his career as he sees fit. Good luck to him either way. I just don't want him at Melbourne under sufferance, because I know we're better than that.
  20. I heard on the radio this morning, the end of a news statement on MMM (missed the first part) that Luke Ball has stated that he doesn't want to come to the Dees b/c he feels he would not be adequately supported by our midfield. That's all I heard. Did anyone else catch the full story? Pretty short sighted of Ball if it's true.
  21. I don't feel like we gave Buckley enough of a chance to show his worth. I know he had a bad season with injury, but when he played senior footy, I thought he showed a lot of promise. I hope he gets picked up elsewhere and that he gets himself the footy future he deserves.
  22. Oops, sorry guys. I need to start working less and reading the internet more.
  23. I admire your tenacity. I question your reason for it. But more than anything, I just want to provide you with the help you need. My aunty makes really good cupcakes. I mean REALLY good. Icing. Sprinkles. Sometimes she mixes it up a bit and throws in a jelly snake. She is also the best French kisser I have ever encountered. I'm in, and so is aunty Jess.
  24. I will make him Chinese food for dinner on any one Thursday night in January.
