POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 21
That misses the point. We keep losing these games because we lack composure and smarts, especially in the big moments. You can only say âwe were the better team and lostâ so many times before you realise that the mental ingredient we miss is actually the most important one. Itâs the difference between losses and wins. I was desperately hoping that today would see the team break the shackles because all the other ingredients are there, but alas, we continue to wait for the breakthrough.

GAMEDAY - Round 21
I felt like a traitor tipping Sydney. Clearly it was just smart. We donât have the composure to match really good sides who apply immense pressure. The game couldâve been over at 1/4 time if we had more composure. Trying to channel my inner wiseblood but feel like this game is our pivot. Win and weâre right in the hunt, lose and the pressure gets worse. Weâve been so poor under pressure I canât see this year ending any different than last year.

THE ROAR MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS
From the article: âOn the chart below, Iâve translated all those numbers from the first list into standard deviations, so we can compare them across the four rating systems. Zero means the team is exactly on the average rating. Positive numbers indicate ratings above the mean and negative indicate teams below the mean.â https://www.theroar.com.au/2018/07/25/math-geeks-guide-true-afl-ladder/

POSTMATCH DISCUSSION - Round 18
I know you get it. Youâre just about the most measured poster here. We still have our fate in our own hands which is certainly good. We canât be trusted though, which is bad and is what makes it so excruciating for supporters. That, and the fact that we have let slip several opportunities to be a contender, not just support cast. 2018 could have been our turn for a fairytale. Now weâre hoping to cling to a spot in the 8 at best (please donât reference the dogs coming from 7th lol)

POSTMATCH DISCUSSION - Round 18
We have not won a crunch game against a good side since Port Adelaide in R18 last year which is a full season ago. Obviously we are in it mathematically and the team has ability, sure. But Iâm yet to see evidence we mentally have the chops to win against any of the good sides. I think Adelaide will be very tough at home despite our earlier clash, WCE is near impossible, GWS are running into form and have the pace to expose us at the G and Sydney are exactly the type of mentally strong team we almost never beat. I applaud your glass half full and wish I had it in me to feel the same right now, but an extended body of evidence has me feeling pretty grim. #MFCSS

POSTMATCH DISCUSSION - Round 18
Mate, our season is on life support and being sixth is a mirage. At this stage will go into one game for the remainder of the season as favourites. That would leave us on eleven wins and missing finals. worse than that, if weâd just taken care of business tonight and against the saints, weâd be a lock.

Changes vs Western Bulldogs
I donât think we need to bring in more pace for the sake of it. Last weekâs team looked much more balanced. Iâd make 2 changes: In: Vince, JKH Out: Smith, Spargo I think both the outs will be good players in time but JKH is in good VFL form and I think will give a little more than Spargo right now. Similarly, Iâd trust Vince a little more than Smith at this stage. We look more stable (and quicker) with Frost back in defence than we did a month ago. ANB will be looking over his shoulder at VDB if he maintains some form at Casey.

Changes vs Western Bulldogs
I definitely agree with this. But there are a few in extended runs of very average form and at least two youngsters who look too raw right now. Even incremental upgrades can improve the dynamics of the team.

Changes vs Western Bulldogs
The balance was much better, but not all the cogs are contributing.

Changes vs Western Bulldogs
Bugg is a momentum killer. Wouldnât trust he or ANB with a shot on goal if they were the last blokes on earth. Only player worse at that right now is big Maxy (but he more than makes up for it).

Changes vs Western Bulldogs
Would prefer to give JKH a run than Spargo or ANB at this stage. We donât need Tyson in the guts right now and I hope never to see Bugg in a Demons jumper again.

Changes vs Western Bulldogs
I thought Smith, Spargo and ANB were our least effective tonight. Lewis also did some Smith played most of the game forward so not sure there is a role for him. Not sure there is anyone really demanding a promotion though.
