  1. Being booed for pointing out someone who racially abused him is directly racist. Being booed for doing a cultural dance deemed unacceptable by white people is directly racist. Being booed for 'trying to be Nicky Winmar' (ie standing up to racism) is directly racist. I thought it was solely because he staged for frees and had NOTHING to do with racism? With due respect, you do not understand what racism is. This is clearly highlighted by your posts. You do not currently have a level of education on this issue to be able to contribute to progressing the discussion.
  2. In other words ‘things probably won’t get better so why try?’.
  3. What do you mean who are they? Do you want me to name them? They are the people that boo. So don't celebrate your culture because the uneducated won't like it? What a great message to send. That's almost the basis for this entire discussion isn't it? He has every right to do what he did. The fact is that the bigots don''t like it so it's safer to stay quiet and play football. And to anyone reading this who still don't understand why Cyril and Eddie aren't booed, that is why! They stay quiet. Goodes didn't and he was run out of town. I totally agree we need to bring people together. That's what he was trying to do. But people twisted the narrative so their safe world didn't have to change and they didn't have to confront what is in the mirror.
  4. Next time an indigenous player wants to do a cultural dance during indigenous round, he'll be sure sure to run it by you first. Just to make sure it's acceptable. I would like to personally apologise that you were offended and called a racist. I'm very sorry you had to go through that and it wasn't the aim of people who were trying to support a suffering human being, to put you through such trauma. If you solely did it when he committed an act on a football field that was in poor taste, then you are not a racist. If you continued to do it every time he went near the ball after he clearly stated he was struggling with the treatment and felt it had racial undertones, you are at the very least of questionable character. But now that hopefully you're done making this entire thing about you and your right to boo. How about you think about someone besides yourself and what they have been subjected to and the 'offence' they have taken? Maybe then you might just be able to find the slightest hint of empathy to someone that isn't yourself.
  5. I was referring to the girl calling him an ape. Changing the narrative to him ‘bullying her’ was largely based on people making up facts. I’ve seen hundreds of people posting ‘it has nothing to do with racism’ and then listing reasons why it is specifically related to racism. They just don’t understand why. Those people are racist. They don’t know they are, they won’t take the time to understand why they are, but they are. Are there some people who ‘hate’ Goodes and booed him that aren’t racist? Probably. But in my humble opinion, their morals aren’t something to be proud of and they are a part of the problem, whether they like it or not. Id prefer to be a part of the solution. Mass booing an individual isn’t.
  6. Well, adults being terrified of an imaginary spear is sort of funny if not just plain embarrassing. But in the interest of discussion, I'll humour your attempt at defending people's right to mass bully a human being. The power of symbols and gestures hey? Fair enough. When Goodes tried to explain how symbolic it was to be called an ape, what did the white folk do? I guess in the politically charged atmosphere, the indigenous man should just do what the white folk say. How about, in this emotionally charged topic where everyone is too wrapped up in trying to defend their right to abuse people, we just LISTEN to what indigenous people are saying. Just listen to why they are hurt and stop thinking about ourselves. It might only take 5 minutes and an open mind. But even that seems too much to ask.
  7. The why don't other indigenous players get booed question has been answered over and over again. It's equal with the stupidity of the 'Gaff got booed, is that racist?' type of argument. It's a ridiculous stance and if you can't be bothered getting up to speed with the discussion (after 4 years) then best stay out of it.
  8. Let's also try and have some sympathy for all of the imaginary people that were killed and wounded by said imaginary spear. Thousands of football followers put through the torture of being subjected to an imaginary spear being hurled in their direction. The imaginary hospitals, imaginary doctors and nurses that had to deal with these imaginary injuries, it must have been horrific for them. I think that is where the real sympathy needs to be directed. The big tough people who call Adam Goodes are sook....having a whinge about an imaginary spear. Imagine that.
  9. Some people do want him traded, or there wouldn't be a thread this size about it. That's their prerogative. But I hope they aren't the same people that get upset with Clark, Howe, $cully etc. We should be doing everything we can to extend his contract as he's a very important player. I said he ''can'' kick 50 in a season. Given he averaged 2.4 in 20 games I reckon that's a fair statement to make.
  10. Are the people wanting Hogan to be traded the same people who demand loyalty from players? Good players don't grow on trees. Especially key position players who can kick 50 goals in a season and play midfield. Ridiculous thread.
  11. Who’s worried about us getting ‘credit’ now? Where exactly does people saying nice things rate on the list of what is important? Think about this next time you want to whinge about what media think about us. All that matters is winning.
  12. So the general consensus in the media is that Collingwood and North are bigger premiership contenders than Melbourne? I haven’t got this vibe or seen it anywhere. Do you have any examples?
  13. Haha just some phone issues there. So a lot of media are claiming Collingwood are premiership contenders but none are claiming Melbourne are? Any proof of this? I just find it fascinating why people are so obsessed by what people in the media think about how we might go this year. The same people that most on here whinge about having no idea. It just comes across as being really needy.
  14. ‘It was pointed out to Buckley after the game that the only top team Collingwood had beaten in that stretch had been Adelaide, with its four losses coming at the hands of Hawthorn, Greater Western Sydney, Richmond and Geelong.‘ Selective reporting by someone accusing people of.....selective reporting.
  15. This thread is embarrassing. Are we North Melbourne? First of all, the OP has drastically misrepresented what was said. Second if all... WHO CARES!!!??? Why would anyone in their right mind give a stuff how much ‘credit’ you get from media for winning games of football? We’ve got a strong team playing amazing football and people still wanna have a whinge. Remember where we’ve come from and enjoy the ride.
  16. Haha oh Jack. There’s always one. I’d love to know how this is a ‘diversion’. Mass exposure to an audience that otherwise wouldn’t see the MFC, great work by the club. If we lose this week though it will definitely be down to that over cooked steak 4 months ago...

Wow. A commentator didn't give a player votes so they are a piece of &*%$, should be sacked and mass abused on social media. You need some perspective in your life.
  18. Prestia? Treloar?
  19. I disagree with this in general. I assume you want them to then tackle the hips which means players are able to get their arms free and release the ball. This is against what they are coached. Although I do actually agree we seem to give away a lot of frees when tackling. It's just the majority of frees to to Rhys would require players to tackle his thighs to not give them away.
  20. I don't really get upset about what the media says, as in the end I find it irrelevant. However, this article is disgraceful. Besides being factually incorrect on multiple occasions, the aggressive language used to belittle Hogan is pathetic. I don't really understand what forum this is on but this bloke surely wouldn't be allowed to publish his stuff on any type of semi-respectable medium. I cant even work out his angle. He's either a Fremantle supporter, trying to use sensationalist journalism to get his name out there, or Jesse has done something to him personally. He should be ashamed and embarrassed by that piece.
  21. But this is 2 years out. It makes sense to hold if. if after this season he puts talks on hold for another year....then we panic!
  22. Previous 10 pick #25s are Wayde Mills, Nathan Djekurra, Tom Collier, Jack Redden, Aaron Black, Karnezis, Seb Ross, Spencer White, Dan McStay and Dan Neilson. Without knowing too much about Neilson I'd only take McStay & Redden over Melksham. Human instinct is to complain/brag when trades happen. Perhaps it's just a fair deal. Don't be a sheep.

Not sure Beams is having a whinge. His dad has just beaten cancer and he wants to be closer to him. Players go home often, pretty reasonable circumstance to want to go back to Queensland for mine.

Re-signed until the end of 2016. Good news.

Some of the comments in this thread are worrying. Lack of pace? Not willing to help teammates? Am I watching the same player as these blokes? Even if they were issues, people do realise he’s key defender? On this theory we need to delist Jamar today. His kicking and decision making could use a LOT of work but he’s been doing a reasonable defensive job each week and that’s his prime role. The other areas mentioned are bonuses and until someone can do the majority of them better than him (unlikely) he’s safe as houses. We struggle to match up on the really tall forwards and Tommy is exposed when he has to play on a Petrie type. He’s also 21…
