  1. The thing about Bell and Buckley is that they've drawn interest from Carlton, not Port Adelaide. Why would Port want either of them? Don't say, 'because they're South Aussies'.
  2. This won't happen. Especially, when there's a slim chance that we could pick SB for nothing in the PSD and hold onto Jamar. Besides, this goes against us trying to better our picks. Definitely won't.
  3. It was worth considering, I thought. Apparently not.
  4. I said if the rumour was true.
  5. Is Hampson any better though? If the rumour regarding pick 9 for him is true, then Jamar would be worth something similar.
  6. It doesn't make a lot of sense that we pick up Ball, considering more than likely we actually got rid of McLean. Ball is probably the better player, but they're both as slow as each other. We would just be adding another slow mid, that said, we'd get him for free and have gained pick 11.
  7. Now that apparently the Hawks have "cooled" on SB, we suddenly shoot up to pole position.
  8. I agree. St Kilda's forwardline functions in a similar way. A couple of goals from Butcher, a couple more from Watts and then you've got Sylvia, Jurrah, Aussie, Greeny etc. Then goals from midfielders like Trengove and Grimes and you've kicked a winning score, most weeks.
  9. Hmm, interesting. This contradicts an article I read yesterday, that suggested he would make a move for Essendon, as he's friends with Jobe Watson.
  10. Good point. I was forgetting that he was contracted.
  11. It seems very unlikely, but perhaps Darren Jolly will fall through to the PSD...Colligwood are the only bidders so farandthe Swans haven't accept it yet.
  12. I agree, but when you hear that teams are interested in players like Daniel Bell and Chris Johnson (last year), I find that staggering in itself and therefore, in my book, anything could happen, during this trade week.
  13. We are not Richmond. Have faith.
  14. As far as I'm concerned, they're finally making all the right and tough decisions that the others never could. Obviously, as Dan says, we cannot truly judge our current recruiting team until 2013/14, but as I say, the MFC thinking has never been more in line with my thinking before and for this reason, I'm excited. As for Cameron walking away, I realise that, but it sounds a lot nicer to say we got rid of him.
  15. Wow, that would be awesome. Dangerfield is an absolute gun! I hope it's him.
  16. Tim Harrington is earning his money. He's a new favourite of mine, along with BP. God, I'm glad we got rid of Craig Cameron. Our recruiting team is the best it's ever been. Finally, the MFC is on the way to being a professional outfit.
  17. You want stability within the club though. If Bailey's contract is up in the air, it may well cause rumblings within the playing group. What's the point? Give him the extension now, as we won't be able to truthfully tell until the end of 2011. Squash any chance of instability within the club and we'll be more likely to succeed.
  18. They were a better side this year. They made the Grand Final, which they couldn't do in previous years. They were incredibly lucky to get there though. The Bulldogs game might have gone either way, but they willed themselves over the line.
  19. It's got nothing to do with race. As was mentioned in the Chris Knights thread, as soon as his brother became a pilot, we was less settled, but before that he was fine. I don't think you can underestimated the difference between living in a remote outback area and living in a city full of skyscrapers. If there are others there that you can relate too, I'm sure it's made a whole lot easier. I would have thought LJ was a little different from any other player indigenous or otherwise. His changing landscape has surely been far more drastic than many others. For that reason, Aaron, as the more senior player, plays a big part in his life. Furthermore, when I used the "indigenous angle" line, I wasn't just referring to keeping LJ, I was also alluding to the Aaron Davey scholarship, for indigenous players.
  20. Yeah, I'm with you on Dangerfield, RalphiusMaximus. He's a gun. He reminds me of a younger, tougher Scott Thompson.
  21. I can't think of another club who have had a complete rebuild, such as ours. Our problem is that we haven't had any A grade veterans on our list already (ala Hawthorn with Crawford) and hvae literally built from scratch. St Kilda is potentially a reasonable template for us. They built from basically nothing in the early 2000s and only now is it starting to pay off. Yes, they went close in the mid 2000s, but they were really only pretenders then. Riewoldt and Kosie were less developed and experienced then, but now having played 100 games or there abouts, they are nicely poised to take a premiership somewhere during the next few years. We can hopefully expect the same, but it will take time. We won't rise as dramatically as some people think, by just adding top draft picks, they need time to develop.
