  1. Given they're all extremely mobile (with the exception perhaps of Dawes in this context), I see no reason why we couldn't fit them all in.
  2. Spot on, DF. Apparently it's 2 to 3 years.
  3. Dawes, Watts, Hogan, Clark and Howe is mouth-watering. Fitzy could become surfeit. A draft pick is not necessarily tangible talent. Fitzpatrick has shown he can play the game at the highest level now.
  4. Well, the first and second pegs may have to go in at once for the deal to be struck.
  5. I wonder if this sub committee will target people for assistant coaching roles. I'm hearing Roos wants a succession plan ala Longmire. If true that would mean at least one new assistant comes in next year. Of course, Roos would probably want to handpick them.
  6. I'd give a PP up for Sloane. Wouldn't give a first round pick if we don't get a PP though.
  7. I'd be asking for more than Martin or Thomas. Fitzy holds greater value to us over the next year or two than Martin or Thomas would in our side. Essentially, it'd have to be a deal slanted in our favour for me to go it. There's no use trading if you're not getting someone who's going to have an immediate impact. Otherwise we stick simply to the draft.
  8. I agree to an extent with rpfc. It entirely depends in this hypothetically world what is on offer for Fitzpatrick. I'd prefer to keep him, but if we could get a 24-25 A grade midfielder for him, I'd jump at it. Hawthorn were ruthless. It essentially won them a flag and set them up for a decade of power. They've been unlucky to come up against the greatest team of all. It's a fine line. We shouldn't be gung-ho about trading someone of Fitzy's upside, but if the right offer is there, we shouldn't be too conservative.
  9. I just skip entire pages of his petty squabbling with x poster and then y poster. Fitzy should be persisted with and he continues to surprise me every week.
  10. Not a particularly reliable source, hence trying to get some more info. Thought it was worth chucking out there though.
  11. I'm not so sure about this. Watts' first goal last week was proof of this. Fitzy, Watts and Clark are all mobile enough to get it done on the ground. We just need an extra speedy crumber or two. Deadly it would be. Deadly. But let's not get sidetracked. Midfield.
  12. If Barry's singing a Jim Steinman song, he goes alright. Otherwise I'm with you, mate. Chris Johnson was a pretty ordinary one, but outside of that disaster, I'd say the last decade has seen some champion father/sons. Only have to look at all of Geelong's champions (I'd be putting Hawkins in that category too).
  13. I'm told the deal was done before the Sydney game. $1.4 mill a year. I'm interested if your sources have said anything further, GNF. You're usually spot on.
  14. This does not make it right though, BB. And a sense of humour doesn't apply here. It's an ignorantly stupid thing to say. If someone does find it funny, questions should be asked about their intelligence. It's this sort of attitude that gives footballers get a bad rep.
  15. We don't know what he is. Currently is interim coach. There is no Director of Sports Performance.
  16. Gawn needs to improve his ruck work, but at least Gawn stays on his feet in the centre square. I reckon Jamar ends up on his backside every second centre bounce. Gawn certainly has him covered around the ground. I think Gawn's work around the ground outweighs anything Jamar provides...BUT we must be very careful with trading Jamar. We don't need anymore players offside with us.
  17. Except for PJ's FD restructure...
  18. Easier said than done, H. I like the idea of Cross and Dal Santo, but can't see them making a drastic change either. We also have to get them here. Granted, Roos as coach might open a few doors.
  19. Very good point, DD. Hadn't occurred to me.
  20. Totally agree. I wasn't advocating the drafting of Wines over Toumpas. I think the latter will be a fine player. But it was worth noting (before Wines) Port already had the makings of a good young midfield. Don't you worry, my fingers are crossed for Roos as well.
  21. Yes it is. Until we get a midfield, nothing will change drastically. Port already had the makings of a good midfield. They just either couldn't get on the park or were young. Ollie Wines has obviously helped their midfield group as well. It's a great pity Viney hasn't played every game this season. It just means he'll take longer to adjust to AFL level. He'll almost be like a first year player next year.
  22. I know it's probably not the thread to discuss it, but Roos was quite firm in his assessment of Terlich. Basically said that it's all well and good to collect 27 disposals across half back, but if your man kicks 4 or 5 on you, how well have you really played? I like it. Also really enjoyed Roos' assessment of Terlich and Matt Jones' work rate in two passages of play.
