  1. What I found odd is this was recorded in at least 2022, meaning so were the rest of the episodes. Why have these episodes sat dormant until 2025?
  2. I really rate Chaplin as a coach and I reckon we're gonna explode next year as an offensive force. It'll be interesting to see if we get the balance between attack and defence right.
  3. My team has changed and plans for Petty too. Love that Petty is training again with backs, but will likely swing.
  4. I wouldn't be surprised if he'll prefer to play midfield. Ironically, even though it's more contested, you're less likely to get a defender jumping up into your back or crushing their knee into your head/neck.
  5. Great interview. I find it pretty difficult to reconcile his (and Ridley's) views on the merger. Instead of building our own team better, the thinking was let's just take over Hawthorn. Lazy and extremely misguided IMV, but appreciate his great contribution to the club over many years. I remember vividly the NO MERGER signs in the MCC growing up.
  6. I'd never wear a Hawks or Eagles jumper. Some things just aren't worth it.
  7. Fritsch is a deadly snap on his right foot. Always easier to kick them around the body though.
  8. Ethan's been using chatgpt 😉
  9. On the safer side, yes.
  10. I see Fritta's position coming under threat if Melksham is banging down the door and McAdam gets on the park and plays with intensity that Fritta sometimes lacks.
  11. Tis, although I'd be setting the shot up not in front of a reflective surface. Small point though.
  12. The Legacy Series | Episode 1 | Robert Flower This is bloody brilliant. Well done MFC. Being born in 1987 I was probably at a game as a baby in his final year, but whenever older Melbourne supporters talk about great Melbourne players, it's always Barrass and Robbie. I've always admired Robbie more for his loyalty. 59 is way too young. 😪
  13. I'm not sure it's as clear cut as this. Fritta doesn't really bring much of any of those traits, but he is an instinctive goal scorer, and that's often all that matters. Sure, he can tackle at ground level, but he's often the cherry on top with others around him like Kozzy, Chandler and even JVR doing the brunt of that work. I'm not sold on Jefferson as he doesn't seem as instinctive as Fritta around goal, so he's going to have to, as you say, bring the intensity at most contests.
  14. It's a re-set, because it involves, I would say, a reasonably significant shift in game style, but it will hopefully also be a progression on 2024's first half. An emphasis on faster attack and slingshot. I hope we look to move the ball inside 50 more centrally like we did in '18 too. Having said all this, you could make an argument that we're rebuilding on the run, but still relying on our mature stars to play important roles, whilst giving the merging group more responsibility. JVR, Jefferson, Turner, McVee, Bowey, AMW, Kolt, Howes, Windsor, Langford and Lindsay are all going to be important pieces of our 2025-2027 puzzle. Jefferson, Howes and AMW may not make it, but I'm hopeful they will, particularly the latter two. I'm quite happy for the football world to have little faith in Melbourne until the halfway mark of the season, just as was the case in 2021. Hopefully the players use this as fire to get themselves going next year and show everyone that we're still a serious football team and club.
  15. Great post mate, which suggests that the retention issue stems from game style. That is not to say the game style was poor, it won is a flag and had us regularly in top 4, but it meant repeat entries and long kicks to contests, leading to loss of possession and into a contested situation. I'm glad we're implementing a more attacking game plan again (ala 2017-2018), but these stats will likely shift markedly again when a new game style is employed. Again, DE and kicking efficiency are junk stats.
  16. I know they're missing players but they're a complete mess at the back. I think it's poor coaching.
  17. That's what I'm hoping.
  18. He's not in my best 22 at the moment. It's between Spargo and Kolt for the half forward spot. Chandler potentially as well, but I rate Charlie higher than both as it stands.
  19. I have Tom as midfield/half forward depth. Injuries permitting, I think he'll be on the fringes this year unless he really starts to impact with accumulation and/or with ball in hand.
  20. This is a team based on attack and may not work every week, but would utilise Trac and/or Langford to play tall if we want to keep the three marking players forward when Max is off. McVee May Salem Lever Petty Windsor Langdon Oliver Sharp Spargo Turner Viney Fritsch JVR Kozzy Max Trac Rivers Chandler Lindsay Langford Bowey Sub. TMac Backs: McVee, May, Salem, Lever, Petty, Windsor, Bowey, Lindsay Mids: Oliver, Windsor, Viney, Kozzy, Trac, Rivers, Langford, Lindsay Rucks: Max, JVR and Turner Forwards: Spargo, Turner, Viney, Fritsch, JVR, Kozzy, Trac, Chandler, Langford
  21. If we change our game style a bit, I'd actually hope we could use the running power of Langdon, Sharp, Chandler and Spargo to run teams off their feet and get on the end of easy shots at goal by outrunning opponents. ANB got 27 in 2018 when we played the more attacking footy and Spargo got 14. In 2021, Spargo got 18, Langdon 13. As long as we get goals out of those four guys, say roughly 15 each, it'd make us so hard to play against. They're all really good runners though. Sharp and Chandler quicker than the others, but Spargo's ball use is the best out of all of them. It then enables us to play both Windsor and Lindsay behind the ball, and play Salem deeper, next to McVee and Bowey. Suddenly, we have great ball use behind the ball and some hard runners to gut run back and forth, and get on the end of the precise kicking and ball movement from the back. I'm really excited by the possibilities in 2025.
  22. He was. My mate Gianni used to be a Violet Crumbler on the 8th hole at Elsternwick Golf Course too. Used to always crumble his shot into the drink and Adam the God would mostly land it on the green.
  23. Chandler isn't a natural crumbler IMV. Spargo is a much more natural crumber and better ball user and decision maker, but doesn't have Kade's pace, nor does he hit the scoreboard as much as Kade. It's an interesting one. I think we'll play games where we have Sharp, Chandler and Spargo in the same team.
  24. Kalani will play for Melbourne. I've no doubt. You don't sign autographs as 34 if you're not on the way. Historically, it's pretty rare for a major father son not to nominate their father's club. Marc Murphy is the only one I can think of. He'll get to Melbourne. Bookmark it.
