  1. I totally 'get it', but it's the insinuation that he could be 'as good' as Yze. He was a sublimely gifted player, but as soft as they come. By comparing him to Yze, you're giving Salem an unfair ceiling that I don't think is justified or fair. Anyway, I'll just pipe down, because I'm sick of sounding like a broken record.
  2. Clark kicked five against GWS in the first half, before getting injured. Blease also kicked five, but it's been a while. I hope so too.
  3. Or maybe Dunn's agent said, hey, Lynden, would you have taken a three year deal twelve months ago? Of course, you would have. This is a brilliant offer that will see you stay a Demon for life and probably on decent money. I know this is a messageboard and much of the debate we have comes from speculating, but I just don't think this Frawley speculation is particularly thoughtful. It doesn't take into account the different people involved. Further, you paradoxically acknowledge that the Watts and Frawley situations are very different, STMJ, yet you don't take into account that they might be very different people. As for poor body language, I just don't think Chip is a particularly good leader. He doesn't seem to revel in the spotlight. I'm not going to read into this. It's far more likely that he'll re-sign, than move on. Ultimately, people will interpret body language, conversations etc and mould it to support their view. This is usually the case when we think of the worst possible situation. I think, as with Watts on The Footy Show last year, some of us think he's gone and therefore just about anything he does is seen as fatal.
  4. I don't see Adelaide as a contender this year either. What a strange choice, BRFE.
  5. Ugh. Love your posts, GNF, but I hate this comparison. Besides, Yze kicked five in his first game out at the Whitten Oval. I was there. Very different players, IMO.
  6. I don't think there's any evidence that he thinks this generally, just last year you could mount that argument. If you're going for midfielders, they can be found anywhere. Yes, the top 3 is always good for 'elite' midfield talent, but it's KPFs who are rarely found outside of the top 5.
  7. I've said all along that I think he'll re-sign.
  8. I guess I can also see the MFC saying to Frawley, you're going to get a chunk of our cap anyway. If you sign on earlier, you'll get the same amount of money, you'll take the pressure off yourself and the club, and you'll allow us to start to put into place our plans for the off season. We'd then know our kitty and could really map out our targets in FA, trade and the draft period. The club could also argue that 'you asked for improvement, here is tangible proof, re-sign'.
  9. I'm pretty sure Evans has at least another year to run on his three year contract. And I tend to agree that we probably won't make a move on rucks this season, so Spencer will be safe and IMO is worth pursuing anyway.
  10. And I've been holding off on Fargo to see whether it got renewed or not before I try and invest myself in it. I don't want another Rubicon situation. I might chance it given your strong praise, DA. I'd heard negative vibes, but glad to hear that might not necessarily be the case.
  11. Is anyone up with The Fall? Not sure of it's been discussed, but wonderfully plotted, beautifully shot and well acted. Gillian Anderson is the lead. The second series comes out later this year. Then, I presume everyone is up to date with Hannibal, True Detective, Mad Men and Game of Thrones? All amazing.
  12. Except that the word would rarely (if ever) be used in its correct context on a football forum. Accepted terms for homosexuality are constantly evolving anyway and it's often 'same sex attracted' these days. This I guess is my point. A lot of my same sex attracted friends prefer this term, because the term '[censored]' has a negative connotation. Each to their own, I guess. And I kinda like the lenient moderation on here. And rather than merely digressing, I want to reiterate that I think Searle's appointment is incredibly exciting for football. It doesn't just open the door for more gender equality in the sport, it starts to shift attitudes towards this idea that 'you have to have played at senior level to coach at senior level'. I think that's great. Look at Jose Mourinho. One of the great tacticians of world football. He played for minor teams in Portugal. I hope to see more of it.
  13. I've been meaning to see Images, but have been busy with Hannibal (s2), True Detective (s1), Mad Men (s7) and Game of Thrones (s4). I have a film playing at Sydney Film Fest, so the director and I get awesomely flown up there and put up in a hotel (for three days - fly back in time for the Melbourne v Essendon game ), so I'm planning on checking out the Altman retrospective while I'm up there. I take it you'll be going to something, HT? I never really got Repulsion. The story is fine enough I guess, but I just thought it was really clumsily and cheaply executed. The special effects are amateurish and I even remember a couple of out of focus shots. I much prefer Knife In The Water. That's wonderful.
  14. Nice. How did the short go? I never saw The Raid, but they've released the sequel now, haven't they?
  15. That scene is amazing. Er, far more interesting than the player interviews on OTC.
  16. Andy Garcia's character. Costner's Ness is more the hero, but he's certainly up there. Appropriate, huh?
  17. Exactly. The school has nothing to do with talent or application of the individual. A lot of the private school footballers are on scholarships anyway and want to make it at AFL level.
  18. So you're thinking Blease, Tapscott, Byrnes, Nicholson and Strauss, plus Clark, GRRM/tm? I can see them persevering with Strauss and Blease, but I don't hold out much hope for them.
  19. Freo have two, maybe three years left. If Lyon doesn't get a flag in that time, he'll probably move on again. At least, they won't be contenders.
  20. Yeah, you're right on Spencer. I had Fitzy in my 2015 delist list, but still a long way to go, so we'll see. Especially with his physical attributes. Probably right call on Georgiou too and good point, RE: Jetta. I think 6 should be minimum. There's still a lot of dead weight on the list and we want lots of competition for spots next year. I'd hope Michie and Riley can crack the season side a bit as some of the younger guys currently in the 1's tire.
  21. I'm glad he wasn't. Wahey! Digression!
  22. Fascinating to see who goes here. Tapscott, Byrnes and Nicholson will be first out the door. Strauss, Blease and Barry will be next in line. I'd say we'll delist 6. I think Frawley will stay, so it'll be interesting to see whether they keep Spencer and they'll upgrade Georgiou and Jetta. I reckon I can see 4 that will be on the chopping block for 2015, but a long way to go there. I think we'll re-sign everyone for next year.
  23. Unfortunately, we won't get 80,000. A combination of the late start and poor weather will deter 10,000ish. I reckon we'll get 65,000-70,000.
