  1. Lol. Yep, that'll really be the end of it. Our 3rd tall defender in his late 20s being traded. I'm still not sure what we're going to do in Matt Jones' absence either.
  2. One of the more bizarre and off the mark posts I've read on Demonland in a while.
  3. Not necessarily. They could just be low-balling him, as we're probably doing with Howe and potentially Garland.
  4. I think some of these comments are a little simplistic. Col wouldn't be moved on because of his body language, he'd be moved on, because he doesn't put his stamp on the game as a senior player. He struggles to impact at contests and his man beats him more often than not these days. His skills are poor and he has engrained bad habits, such as failing to take the first option, yet taking the first option has clearly been a strong mandate from the coaching group this season.
  5. Interesting. Little pill as a kid, but he was a staunch Collingwood supporter, so things must be bad.
  6. Nah, I paid my $700+ MCC membership and ticked the MCC/MFC box, so had to pay some more to the footy club I love.
  7. Agreed. Imagine him in the guts full time. And imagine Prestia dishing off to him out of the middle. Salivating at the thought of it.
  8. Gus is one of my favourites. Love him. Now just needs to get more of the ball. If he averaged mid 20s, he'd be one of the most damaging players in the league. He just makes things happen. His decision making and disposal are top notch for a first year player.
  9. Letting him walk for adequate compensation. A 2nd rounder would do it for me. I'm sure opinions will vary on that one though. EDIT. It may also depend on who else we pick up or are in conversation with. I think we can cover Garland's loss at the back.
  10. The more I think about Col, the more I think it's really important that we move him on. Like Watts, I've always really liked Col. Seems like a lovely guy. He used to beat his man most weeks and attack the contest a bit, but his body language spells broken to me. He's at the point of no return. We need hardened competitors and I think Col should be moved on. This will leave a handful of guys on our list realising that unless you have the attitude and commitment of a Viney, Hogan, Brayshaw, you'll be moved on. These are the guys now driving the standards and expectations for the rest of the group. This pressure to perform is the first step in building a strong culture. No more floating through games, with a lack of accountability. The list will again be strengthened over the coming months and by the top of 2016, non-performers will have fewer places to hide and more competition for their spot. The club should approach Col in the same way that I think they're approaching Howe and Watts - if we can trade him for something half reasonable, we should look to pull the trigger immediately.
  11. I think you might be underestimating the potential of a package deal with Watts and thus he's a pretty good sweetner.
  12. I wouldn't. We should be aiming higher. Melksham is the bag of peanuts that we should be avoiding. Get proper (read elite) compensation for Watts, otherwise he stays. The same goes for Howe really.
  13. Still think we'll need to go for more mids that can win their own ball even if we do get Prestia, but speed should certainly be a major priority too. That's where Bennell would have been great. Hope something comes of that too. Wouldn't mind on O'Meara either.
  14. I can only assume Terlich or his manager had incriminating photos of one of our list people, because it's one of the more baffling decisions during Roos' tenure.
  15. Very easy. Just say 'Jimmy/Jessica, in return we got the best clearance player in the competition in Dion Prestia'.
  16. And I think we're seeing the same thing play out again this year. As it did with Sylvia as well. It's actually incredibly simple. Just low-ball on a contract until the player looks elsewhere. The only difficult part is ensuring you get adequate compensation. This is where 'Melbourne is a basketcase' has actually helped out. Outsiders have backed themselves (in some cases arrogantly) to get the best out of blokes we're really happy to get rid of for the right price. The industry view of the MFC, I'm told, is improving and I wonder if this will ironically play against us this year and next?
  17. Reckon Danger was signed by Geelong at the end of 2014.
  18. That's my feeling on this too, but I'm not averse to a conspiracy theory. Given the alleged threesome, I'd say it's some bad press Sydney could do without, hence the coverup. Particularly, if he's being paid millions and millions of dollars for positive marketing in a tough Sydney market.
  19. I think Jack will be traded too. The time has come. I like Jack. He's got great skill and decision-making and he's a loyal clubman, but he's not a competitor either. If we truly want a dynasty of success at this club, he has to be traded. All that remains is a good deal for us and his potential suitor. NOTE. If Jack's value on the trade table (ie the procurement of someone like Prestia, in a package deal) is greater than that of his worth as a best 22 player, he will and should be traded.
  20. I've been talking about his laziness and his limitations as a player since 2013. If you think it's just been 2015, you're kidding yourself. He is not a competitor. We'll trade him, nothing surer.
  21. Roos marked his cards months ago. Probably even last year, when they realised where other club's valued him. RE: viewing himself as a forward, that's just an excuse, so it's not all about money, but it is.
