This has probably been said, but we're no longer a retirement home. Pass.

And would anyone care?
-
El oh el. And what happens to their aging midfield when O'Meara struggles to get on the park and they've spent $2mill on him?

Grimes and Trengove future rests with Goodwin
Adam The God replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fair enough. -
Where did I say we'd pay him $350k? We'd pay him good money, but not ridiculous Richmond money. There is some grey in the middle.

So having an opinion that is in opposition to yours is being a [censored]? -
No we wouldn't. We'd try to make him accept a lower, more realistic offer. As I keep saying, we don't want to blow our cap.
-
The feeling is we've gone cold on Dion because we haven't heard anything about us chasing him in the media, right? But we know how smoothly Mahoney and co work. We don't leak. So there's just as much chance we haven't 'gone cold' on him, but people would prefer to think we have if we're going to lose him to another club. It's all defence mechanism again.

I'd prefer to use two spots on our lists to uncover/develop the next Jayden Hunt. Keeping them on the list another year will send them into list clogger status. They're not going to be played at senior level. Let's get blokes who might. -

Not tough calls. Thank you both for your services. On behalf of past administrations, we apologise for the earlier years. -
Hang on. What?

I'm not sure we do Red. You insinuate we've stopped trying to lure him...

Could Jack Watts become our next captain?
Adam The God replied to MrBurns's topic in Melbourne Demons
No. Just no. Watts should simply concentrate on becoming a consistent contributor and putting seasons back to back now. He might be considered a leader around the club, but I wouldn't have him in my leadership team. Focus on footy, Jack. -
Doesn't seem like we've cooled on him, we're just not prepared to match Richmond's inflated offer. If we want to keep our midfield/team together we can't afford to.

Glad to see Dom getting some kudos. A vital part of our emerging midfield. Goalkicking midfielders are worth their weight in gold.

Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?
Adam The God replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
Didn't they just close this loophole or did I interpret this incorrectly? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Adam The God replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
The only reason I would entertain a trade for Salem (and as I've said in the past it'd have to be for a Brad Crouch type) is his inability to get on the field. Whether it be hamstring or thyroid-related injuries. -

I agree with you on Oliver. Think he'll be a star if he can build his tank. Brayshaw and Petracca will be both guns too. As we've seen though with injuries to key players for some of the top 8 teams as of late, if you can't cover an injury or two (remembering we've had a dream run this year), there's a strong chance you'll miss out on a flag. Exhibit A is the Bulldogs for mine. -

I guess my thinking is a classy outside mid is a half back these days. Certainly the style that Goodwin is playing reflects this thinking. Out of the players mentioned, none of them exhibit both speed and class. Hunt you could argue does, but there's a slight question over his kicking for mine. Don't get me wrong though, I'm thinking in a perfect world here, you'd get another classy, speedy half back. But we'll probably be fine without. If Tyson or Viney go down though, we're significantly weakened, so I want true depth in this area. Sure, a Jones or Vince could step up for a week or two, but they wouldn't cut it weeks on end as elite ball-winning midfielders. We've already seen that this is the case. Their decision making and at times disposal, is questionable. In short, I'd be happy to not add to our outside pace in favour of gaining another inside mid. I truly believe we're missing one still. -

Adam The God replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
I still think we need another gun inside mid and another zippy back flanker with pace and class. The ruck/forward situation isn't as big a deal in my mind, but ruck depth is. I wouldn't be against us targeting an experienced ruckman as back up for Gawny. -
Any other Dees a chance for AA Selection?
Adam The God replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Nah, can't see anyone else except Maxy. Jetta has been pretty consistent except for a poor patch of a month in the middle of the year. Other than that, Viney has been too inconsistent at the end of the day. -

Yep, good post, N. Your argument there doesn't hold water, ADC. -

It's more about appeasing the bigger clubs I think. If we continue to be shrewd, this won't impact on our ability to continue our rise up the ladder. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Adam The God replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
You're probably right by insinuating we wouldn't be looking at Essendon players if we didn't have Goodwin, but the fact remains that we are. Why is this? Because Goodwin knows them intimately and understands what they will bring to his team in 2017 and beyond. -

Nope. Can't see it happening. IMO, we'd only entertain a trade for Salem if it was for a player of equal or higher capacity. Hibberd is an important acquisition as a role player, but in time, if he can stay fit, Christian will be a much better player.
