  1. Yep, I'd rotate him between deep forward, a wing and half back. I'd keep rotating him until he gets into the game. Put the pressure on him like Watts to the ruck and there's nowhere to hide. I reckon it'd elevate his game.
  2. I think we'll see our guys tweak this over the summer. We want to move the ball quickly and yet we were one of the slowest teams for ball movement in 2017. We'll be devastating if we can move the ball quicker. This is the natural evolution of our game style and young team. A backline of Lever's composure, along with Hibberd and Jetta, is a backline that creates less turn overs. OMac is a surprisingly good kick and ball in hand is decent. Hunt needs to improve his kicking, but without Tommy Mac or Frost back there, we are significantly more composed. The question is can they attack quickly enough? That's where Laird and Smith are so important pinging off the likes of Talia and Lever at Adelaide. Agreed. Unless we can find a zippy outside user that can play half back and ping off our defensive zone, we'll have to utilise one of these guys in this role next year. My feeling is that it should be Lewis, but his kicking this year was a bit of a worry too. Just slightly less so than Bernard the butcher from Adelaide though. The backline is actually the area of the ground that I'm most interested to see how they tweak it. I think our press was too aggressive this year, but it worked in the first half of the year. Particularly, against Richmond earlier in the year. Maybe it's a case of another pre season under the belts of our younger guys enabling us to implement it for longer, but my feeling is that we need to re-think it, back to the drawingboard type stuff. We desperately need more speed in our line up. Hunt, Hibberd, Frost and Garlett are quick. Not sure I'd call anyone else quick though. Hunt in particular is perfect to play the anchor to our press, but the coaches have realised we need to play him between higher, between half back and the wings. The anchor is too deep for him - we lose what he brings. I suspect they'll try Frost in that role again or even Lever, but I hope we try something new.
  3. If I were Geelong it wouldn't matter. This would all be worth it if they pinch the flag in 2018.
  4. I reckon teenage Bruce would have been the most intolerable little [censored] ever. Probably tried to hang around with the jocks and spent most of his time flagellating himself to their every move. Josh Gibson won a few flags playing the same role. Worth every cent IMO, mate. It'll be interesting to see how their defence goes next year without his incepting and direction back there.
  5. The MFC [censored] themselves in a trade with the scum. What's new?
  6. WB, the dog whisperer. I like it. I'll run with it. Pick 11 sounds okay.
  7. I like Jack and think he's better served on our list, but this would be hilarious, just given the history with the scum. Their three-toothed army wouldn't know whether to cheer or boo. They get something from the Crows as well? Watts is worth more than 4 spots in the top 10. They'd get good use out of him. Do they need to get something else from the Crows? Not sure about the validity of this trade, mate.
  8. As long as they don't pinch one in the meantime. A midfield of Dangerfield, Selwood, Ablett and Rockliff would be unstoppable. Doesn't matter who their bookends are at that point.
  9. Was this pre-2017, because I'd heard similar things, but didn't seem to be too toxic to a young Brisbane outfit this year.
  10. Equally, if GWS run all over them, he might want to be at a Victorian club with almost as much young talent as GWS.
  11. Yeah, not a AVB fan, but it's probably the right call to give him one more year. He's obviously seen as a better option than an unknown low draft pick and that's probably fair. Another sensible list management decision.
  12. Maynard is a different player to Tyson, for mine. We need all the decent midfield depth we can get. If Tyson becomes a depth player, we'll be heading in a really terrific direction.
  13. It's basically been said, but he's too slow nowadays; his kicking is a liability, even forward of centre; however, he does give us experience out there and on the training track. I'll trust the FD on this one.
  14. Agreed. We only trade for best 22 for the next 5 years. Depth should come from those already on the list, by bringing in better talent to relegate current MFC players to 'depth'.
  15. Depends how much we'd be paying Rockliff. He's in the top 5 clearance players in the league. Add him to Oliver and Viney and that's the best midfield group in the league. He can also play a proper forward role, rather than merely being a stop gap solution like Tyson is when forward. If we could get Rockliff for $650k, I'd do it. But I don't think we could or will.
  16. I enjoy the contributions of both posters, but it's possibly the most inane conversation I've ever read on Demonland. Please make it stop.
  17. Lol, doesn't surprise me. He reminds me of Darren Lehmann (playing days) in a Melbourne jumper.
  18. The point I was making was Lever's absence was more felt than Gawn's.
  19. You watch them pull players out of their arse though. Priddis came from nowhere and became a Brownlow medallist.
  20. When we played Adelaide, Jacobs dominated the hit outs. Got something like 70 hit outs and Gawn didn't play, neither did Lever. We won easily.
  21. Yeah, my old man who reads that page told me Lever's old man has been on that page for at least a fortnight now, so it's been a done deal for a while now IMO.
  22. Gawn doesn't work up forward. And when the ball hits the deck, we get killed on the rebound. Their Maynard run off half back unchecked the entire game. Gawn is best played in the ruck with licence to roam forward and drop back. That's where he played his best footy, but he's not agile enough to play lone forward. I maintain I'm okay with the idea of trading Max.
  23. Unless we're freeing up spots on the list for mids. It is quite possible we don't rate the ruck position. It would be a bit of an about-face given how much we banged on about how Gawn would give us first use etc, but I think we also have to be open to the possibility that when we fell in a heap at the end of this year, certain aggressive list strategies were put in place to improve. Goodwin is certainly tactically aggressive on the field. I wonder how aggressive he is in trading ground. You live too far away, mate.
