  1. I reckon this is the case. So before some go you go mouthing off at 'how could we possibly not be able to afford him', think about this.
  2. Kemp seems to hit the contest in a similar way to Martin or Oliver. He accelerates into the stoppage, rather than being flat footed. Seems like a natural ball winner for that reason and unlike Oliver, appears to be able to play more time forward, followed by bursts in the midfield. This will suit him coming into the AFL system. It's early, but could have a similar trajectory to Martin. I can see the Bontempelli comparisons too, but will be interesting to see if we're seriously looking at this kid.
  3. Martin is an interesting one, because I'm not entirely sure whether he's built for the system we should be playing. He's slight, I'd say a little weak at the contest, but his positive attributes of poise and skill are a much needed commodity in our forward line. If our FD rate him and decide to go after him, and we can convince him to come, I'll be happy, but I won't be crying into my cereal if we don't get him.
  4. I reckon you take best available. That seems to be Taylor's philosophy too. Let's not go back to BP-like recruiting.
  5. If Goodwin's worth his money, he'll build a system around the players we have. There's enough talent there if we get the systems right.
  6. Right. So it was Membrey... despite it not being a St Kilda player. Certainly proves getting excited is a very subjective thing. Ah well.
  7. Hang on a second. I do rate Papley. I just don't rate him as a B+ or A grader. I'm not sure many would.
  8. Yeah, spoke to someone who would know about this today. I coached Tom (P) as a kid. Not happening.
  9. Papley isn't going to significantly increase it. Like I said, if Papley was cheaper, I'd look for a trade, but not pick 3 and not if his wage/asking price is ridiculous. I'm glad you're not running the club mate.
  10. I'll leave that up to our recruiters. And no, I'm going by 'don't blow our cap on a one goal a game small forward'.
  11. Not necessarily. You don't just give up a top 10 pick for a small forward who averages a goal and a bit a game. You aim for a B+/A grader with a top 10 pick.
  12. Potentially. Depends if we've also got in his ear and whether GCS are looking at anyone else with that first pick. Jetta -- May -- Lever Hibberd -- Keath -- Salem/Jones That's a solid set up. Petty can play swing too.
  13. Bit like that Frost bloke.
  14. I'd definitely pick him up as a cheap option.
  15. Statistically he's worth just over a goal a game, so not 2-3. You don't give up pick 3 for this type.
  16. I was told by a relatively reliable source just over 12 months ago that Daniher would never play again, because his knee was so screwed. He did play a little bit, but he didn't last long. I can't understand Sydney here...
  17. We'd only do it if we got a decent player back, otherwise both top 10 picks go to the draft and GWS risk us taking whoever they are interested in at 3.
  18. How the hell do we land him? Is he an FA or do we need to pull a pick out of our [censored]? Would love him for the record. @Patches O’houlihan is spot on. Not only does he still have something to give a team like us, his experience and leadership would be invaluable for our team that so desperately lacks it.
