  1. The internal review conducted last year, as opposed to the external review that was really needed, IMV, may well have set the club back a year.
  2. Interested by the amount of agreement on this...
  3. Oliver, Petracca, Brayshaw and Harmes is our best midfield IMV.
  4. Yeah, that's what I meant, I guess. Bit of lowballing, combine that with taking the captaincy off him and yoyoing him in and out of midfield.
  5. The bleeds red and blue thing is rubbish of anyone. I like to think of myself as an optimist outside of footy, but anyone can be turned. Have the club decided what a few of us seemed to hint at throughout the year, that we're more efficient without Jack, and therefore haven't offered him a contract?

We absolutely do have midfield depth. Petracca, Oliver, Harmes, Viney, Brayshaw are 5 very solid mids.
  7. See, to me, the players can absolutely be the tail wagging the dog here. If Petracca and/or Oliver put their hands up to be traded, you can bet the club, as a business, will make the call to the AFL and they'll get rid of Goodwin. Clubs are on a knives edge in the COVID environment. I'd be staggered if they haven't already broached all these options with the AFL much earlier this year.
  8. Jeepers, imagine if Moonie was Lord Nev, he'd be copping [censored] from the ET's of the world.

Hasn't really kicked on his early career form. He used to be quite explosive around stoppages I thought, he's lost that with injury and his disposal is ho-hum. I'd pass here.
  10. I think you needed to work in the water (Port) factor into that a little better.

Interesting team. This is how I see it. (@Werridee will love this thread) I'd have Tomlinson in the back 6 or a traded in KPD, but I wouldn't have Hore in the team at all. Petty definitely ahead of him. I'd love Bennell to be able to play on a wing, but is his body up to it? As it stands, I don't think Melksham and Fritsch can play in the same team. I reckon three or four places on the bench are up for grabs.
  12. Moon-man, what you doing here? A bit of [censored]-teasing? Just drop a bit of a bomb and then nick off? Could you have at least put it in riddle form?
  13. I'm pretty sure Pert would have refused various questions. This is the corporate world. You have a brand and you have a strategy attached to that. Anyone expecting to gain true insight is naive IMO.
  14. You'd need players, not picks, so I suppose it depends who you're trading with. If it's GWS are Kelly or Finlayson a net win versus Max? Probably not. Kelly and Williams? Maybe.
  15. Reckon we might be a lot more active than we may have imagined a few weeks back.

Re watch some of our 2018 games, in particular the finals. He knows how to get involved in scoring chains. He's a natural. I don't think our forward system is particularly conducive to many of our smalls.
  17. Given you've got Longmuir in here, Yze should be in calculation. My understanding is that Freo wanted Yze, but he didn't want to move his family.

Agree with most of this, but disagree on the point about small forwards. I'd be clearing out a lot of those guys you mention. Spargo stays as he is at least a natural footballer, the rest need to go. It's time we looked at natural goal kickers with speed, who happen to be able to apply forward pressure.
  19. I love the parable and I do think it applies to our societies as a whole. I think what it comes down to though IMV, is a lack of genuine leadership. In regards to Goodwin, I just think (somewhat speculatively) that he hasn't always communicated his messages clearly to players and the captaincy hand over between Jones and Viney was clearly poorly handled. You don't want to help rifts manifest or grow within team environments. It means as soon as things don't work for you, there's a chance it could all fall in a heap. That's what I think is happening here. As someone who manages people in my job and works in small teams, I'm not against the corporate speak to be honest, as long as it's linked to a vision. The best leaders IMO are those with a vision, can communicate it to others, and are willing to listen to others and let them do their thing. Sure, pull them into line if they need pulling into line, but when you're doing that, you better make sure you communicate it appropriately, fairly and clearly.
  20. That's pathetic. Chaplin, [censored] right off.
  21. Disagree, but I am biased as I say.
  22. I was just putting out who I'd like, not who I think we'll get. I know the Beveridge's and I'm not sure we'd get Luke.
  23. I reckon you'll find most of the league rates our midfield, but most of the league finds us very easy to coach against.
  24. I don't think so, OD. If we don't make finals, he's gone. You can't set expectations of finals or bust at the start of 2020 from a board POV and then back in the coach when the team fails to get there. We've had a perfectly healthy list for the majority of the year and we haven't got there. He's done. People are too worried about economics here. We'll be fine, as long as we get the next coach right.
