2022 AFL National Draft prospects: The next batch
Bit of a Deven Robinson mate? Really like him as a player, despite his yo-yoing in and out of the Brisbane side.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Thanks mate.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Gee, Max is good. Love him as our captain.

Farewell Luke Jackson
What a brilliant deal that was.

Farewell Luke Jackson
Hayden Young is a good young talent, but could we fit Rivers, Salem, Bowey and Young in the same side? I don't think so. And I love our three aforementioned from a defensive perspective and certainly in Salem and Bowey's case, their kicking.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Yep, agreed, although Melksham as the defensive forward will be an interesting watch come finals. My feeling is we want to play two recognised talls forward of centre and are making do with Max and LJ forward to partner Weideman, but that we might prefer Brown and TMac/JVR ultimately, over Brown and Melksham. It may well be a horses for courses thing though. If we think Melksham is a good defensive match up on a key interceptor or 1v1 defender, we might play him, but I can't see Melksham playing in big finals. I could be wrong, but it may well depend on the fitness of TMac or the courage of playing JVR. It does seem though that playing Melksham enables more space in forward 50 for us, because Melksham gets up the ground, or plays forward anchor, and this gives room for the likes of Kozzy, Fritsch and even a trailing JJ or Langdon to work in. It'll be interesting to see how it works with Brown in the team, I expect at the expense of Weideman.

Farewell Luke Jackson
It sounds like Freo are approaching multiple players though, which is different from just approaching Jackson or us just approaching Cerra.

In Season - Loading/Periodisation: Put your conjecture here.
If you look at who Collingwood have beaten in their last string of games, they've limped across the line against numerous weaker teams. They're getting the job done, but providing we don't suffer critical in game injuries we should account for them easily next week.

NON-MFC: Round 20, 2022
I've said it before but Brisbane's leadership and midfield is highly questionable. They go missing at really important points. Remind me of MFC circa 2002-2006. Really poor again.

I agree.

Farewell Sam Weideman
I've never seen so much facepalming in a thread before. So sassy.

Farewell Sam Weideman
If we had too strong a list, he wouldn't be getting a game. He's getting a game due to lack of tall forward options. Jackson and Max have struggled at various stages this year forward too.

NON-MFC: Round 20, 2022
Saad really is like a small Sam Frost except not as good 1v1. He makes some bizarre moves.

They couldn't keep up with our system and the wet exacerbated it. But this has certainly been my belief all along, if we get our fitness right, our system is impregnable. When we're fatigued, our system is vulnerable. So your view is we don't play at 18 man team defence? If so, you're wrong. When the forwards and mids are fatigued, the opposition can move the ball into their attacking 50 easier and more often. Injuries played a huge part in the first loss too with May and Petty off for large chunks of the game.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
He was concussed against Freo, but Petty was also off for the third quarter against Freo, Sydney and Collingwood where the opposition tlals got ahold of us all of a sudden.
-
POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Jono Brown gave him a slight pump up post match, saying he was underrated. The three losses in a row that came earlier in the year happened when Petty was off the ground for extended periods of time. During this time, the opposition got run ons.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
St Kilda like to move the ball quickly off half back too and were in the top 4 or 6 when we played them. We completely shut them down. When we're on, our system doesn't allow quick ball movement. It strangles teams. Just as it did Freo. Have you been watching for the last 18 months?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Would have disagreed with you last week mate, thought he panicked multiple times and threw it on the boot and was too slow, but last night he was a very good and got into important positions, and showed poise as you say.

Farewell Luke Jackson
That's just complete guesswork otherwise why use qualifiers like "at a minimum..." and "plus" twice. You're a clown, Jay. At least stick to the fee of 850k or the term of six years.
-
The pow wow
Sorry, but none of those quotes say loading is "the only thing happening at the club". Most "loaders" believe it's the key reason, not the only reason, a point that has been made numerous times now. So your phrasing was disingenuous there.
-
The pow wow
Speaking of comedy, Steve, you were a pretty big wrap for poor old Weids weren't you? Mate, again, where has anyone said this? That third quarter was our best defensive effort of the year. Sublime.
-
Farewell Luke Jackson
Thought Jackson murdered Darcy early on last night. Darcy had a very poor game. He's a very good player though, so I wonder if the Jackson stuff got to him.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
His best ever season for sure.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Yep spot on. With Gus playing half back interceptor, it undermined Salem's quarterback role IMO. I reckon Rivers and Hunt back there is a really good mix. Hunt still worries me, but he does have the pace to go with the dangerous smalls that basically no one else on our list does (aside from Smith maybe or potentially Bowey). I was convinced Gus would play on the wing tonight, but I was wrong there. Didn't see the midfield move coming. I wonder who comes out for Harmes or is he the unlucky one next week? I wouldn't go tweaking behind the ball again unless we have to RE injury from now onwards. The only move I'd consider is Bowey for Hunt.
