  1. You might, I certainly would not. He is just beginning his afl career. As a 22 Yr old. No player can hold a whole forwardline up, at 22Yrs of age. Even Carey couldn't. He just started his strong run, at 22yrs of age. And we know Carey was a once in a generation type player... playing in a strong footy club after recent AFL successes. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pc-adelaide-crows--wayne-carey
  2. Simple, 2 hands, two legs, one mind. How many goals assists does he have in 2019... and where is he on the leagues goal assists averages.?
  3. Not quite 't_u' . I think with May and Lever in the side, we can get away with Salem taking a Wing, or inside Mid role. That releases one or more NQR , out of the team. a net positive. So... more speed Jetta, May, Hore Hibbo, Lever, Lew/jWagner Salem, Brayshaw, Stretch Hannan, TMc, Lockhart Garlett, Weide, Preuss R/ Gawn, Oli, Viney Int/ Hunt, Jones, Petracca, Lew/Wagner
  4. i agree rufus. Stifling the opposition in Finals, is Premiership Modus. But why is it whenever this Mfc gets to become genuine Finals contenders... do our players start to gloat inwardly, silently, and drop they're work efforts... and their mindsets.? It happens at other clubs occasionally. . Why does this Happen at Melbournefc, mostly ? and regularly. This is so F&$*ing tiring. .
  5. totally agree with this Scarlett. And the long bomb deep is IMO far too easily defended against us at this stage, because we lack class and speed inside 40. I prefer a bomb, IF we must... to the 45Mtr area, so we have players 360 * around the contest... Fore, Aft, and laterals... all in space, thinning the defenders out... and allowing space for us to move to. .
  6. I haven't kept up with the kids for 4 or 5 years. and I don't know anything of this years bunch, at this time. But I have been calling for us to recruit small forward rover types, and midfield running types over at least the past 4 National Drafts. Names of Ainsworth, Higgins, DeGoey, Stephenson, I was unsure of Petruccelle but he was an interest. but more out and out speed at that time. Back a few years prior to that, before Maxy extracted the digit... from that Weideman draft, I was also keen on Grundy. Who I thought would make an Ideal mobile ruck type. I really wanted us to make sure we got Weideman... who I'll back all the way for us. But i was hoping we could also pickup a Grundy as well, Via some wheeling and dealing. Sadly that did not happen
  7. It doesn't look like it does it. But it did in a couple of Qtr's of footy, this season, so far. The point is, we don't really Know how much its in need of tweaking... Because we have so Many of our BEST players out, or playing hurt. So its really difficult to See. Should we chuck out "the Baby and the Bathwater"... as it where, Or just the Bathwater. It's so dirty, we cannot see the depth of the problem. So where do we cut to... or start from ?
  8. I cannot see the point, when we are so lacking on our list... Of finishing around 8th or 9th... that will just hamper us, moving forward in coming seasons. We need desperately an injection of quick running players with solid physical disposition. What I would give for the Mfc to have a young Steven Tingay, and a young Rodney Grinter on our list right Now.
  9. Yes I did Deek. But my point stands. We are below the likes of the Blues, on future talents already on lists. They;'re list is stronger than Ours which will show in another couple of seasons... Unless we get back to the draft and pickup more skilled talents. (with attitude) we went for Tracca ahead of Degoey... who is a quick running player with some height and is a strong marking player. Exactly the type we are in sore need of. Tracca could be anything, but seems content to just be an AFL player getting games each week.
  10. I don't think He is 'TPF36'. I think Oli is as good as any of them... maybe just ahead, but not by much... with regard to effecting their sides outcomes. They each only hold down one position on-filed at a time. Any player only has 2 arms and 2 legs... so unless we get Siamese twins, then one player is just one player. What your talking about is tiny percentages of benefit, between each player. the The point is that they picked up at least 3 top line players from that single draft, and all are still young. And have already showcased their talents. So we fell back one top-line player in that 2015 National Draft. And THEY have drafted plaenty of 2nd stringers from GWS whci will help them no end. Our 2nd string players are very Ho-Hum. Poor Depth at the moment is suffocating Our team.
  11. Weideman was not a mistake. BuT Weide is about all we got from the draft that year. The Blues IMO cleaned up that year with Curnow, McKay, Weitering,
  12. they're ahead of us Re Talent on paper. Names on their list. Future players. IMO, we all got ahead of ourselves when we got Viney and Hogan, and then one or two others. ... and we gloated when we saw Hunts raw speed streaming down one side of a ground. We all seem to have felt like its all happening... "as it should be"... this does not account for ups and downs, for injuries, for form, and for retirements or just aging. We at Melbourne all survive on Hope eternal, and we become overly optimistic at the dropping of a coin. And this leads to our own despair, when things go awry. My argument is we have to hit the draft strongly again. Because many of our good players are aging and others are hurt.
  13. Well we missed out in 1986/7... don't hold your breath waiting, for the next time.
  14. To slow, or stop the Opps' attacks... trying to lock the ball in our half. It's failing badly. We do not have the Cattle at our disposal to play our gamestyle.
  15. We're Melbourne... it's what we're best at. We don't listen... to the AFL, and the TV stations, and the crowds who turn away from the game, because of the years of congested play When others were pick running players in the draft like DeGoey, and others, we didn't. We decided to go for Milton the Monster. Like a few years back, when Wines, Grundy, McRae, and Stringer where there for us to take. We took the smart option of the best small mid. Toumpas. How do we keep getting things so right... for Open Mise`re !
  16. Yep... Murphy's Law at the moment. Like Whispering... Its time to study the Nab U-18's kids, for what we lack. .
  17. So, Mitch Clarke - Foot Trengove - Foot TMc - Foot Viney - Foot AVB - Foot Seems a trend dee-veloping to me.
  18. Best games from Tom is when he plays high half-forward. He's a tall midfielder, who happens to be strong overhead. He's not a deep forwards shoelace. And our delivery into our forwards atmo, is atrocious.
  19. True, but we're an even headed club. its not our year. Maybe 2020 will be more to our liking .
  20. 'Werridee', its not a 'rebuild' . We've 're past the rebuild, which is starting from scratch... We have to add a few player types to our list and hope we draft & develop them well.
  21. He Has to learn to delver the ball better to our forwardline. Lets not pump him up above his station, as well. He's winning a lot of ball, that's all.
  22. And there it is right there. Our major issue... lack of quality depth. We cannot afford injuries to our best 22. And we have many out... and more playing under a cloud.
  23. Our defenders... now the AFL has turned US inside out, again, with a rule named in our Honor.
  24. Sometimes its not as much the honesty but the belief. Sometimes they just Can't do it.
  25. They are officially ahead of our List... at this present stage. We have little left in Our reserves tank, to speak of. We've seen our best, last year... and now its a different AFL game in 2019.
