  1. 2018 2nd Rnd pick 2019 2nd Rnd pick player trades promise of 2020 pick ???
  2. Oh geez, I hope your right. Because he would just set off inside mids, for the next 8+ years. We would be excellent, right in the engine room, feeding out our skilled players. I think once we got Wines, the list is near complete. Don't need much more, just draftees. and a couple of topups.
  3. AGAIN I say, this board/admin is doing the best job that I can recall in my lifetime. note that means there is no issue with this current administration that I'm aware of. AGAIN i iterate, that I have NO Trust with Mfc choosing board members in the future, as we lose the controls of the AFL. I think we can assume that PJ ending is timed, as we move towards possible late September action, to not have the perception of AFL interference if we happen to win a Silver Cup. And that also the job he was sent to us to do, is nearly done. PJ did not headhunt Roos. Roosy was chosen for us at the same time as PJ. Some 'tidying up work' needed doing around the club before Roosy would commit. Roosy had to make his mind up, but had done well prior to his announcement. almost a year earlier. https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/afl-melbourne-ceo-peter-jackson-recommits-to-demons-20151119-gl2s5i.html http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-09-06/roos-announced-as-demons-coach/4940876 You really have to stop reading the papers and believing the Media PR spin, CBF. CBF, you love to play word games, trying to swing perception Via deception. I don't have confidence in Gillon at all. What I have is confidence in the AFL mechanisms. And footy nous, more-so than their running of the games rules, etc. Than you bring up your own moralistic biases,,,, which have absolutely NOTHING to do with what I referring to, regarding our past boards, and how we have gone about electing board members, over the past 5 decades. What your saying, is plain rubbish.
  4. He has a glass jaw. He is prone to concussions, more than most. This is why his rehab was so problematic. And he had to undergo such stringent treatments
  5. I don't think so. Our strength since we settled has started from our backline, and its important that this area of our lineup remains steadfast. So we can remain offensive. If we have to start chasing tails, our attack will suffer. Pedo has been in strong form for weeks... Frost has not. Weide only to replace TSmith?
  6. I wish he had 100 games up with us. that'll be Monday, JD. The more I think about it, I reckon tMc plays back as the intercept, either starting from the wing & playing back, or from CHB. So i think the tall forwards will be Hogan, Pedo, and Weide, if TSmith is out injured. Add, Garlett to the interchange.
  7. Again I'll disagree. You seem to want to live in hope, that all will be perfect for us. Brayshaw is a week to week proposition, with his ailment. There is no guarantee, with his condition. If he gets knocked out Pre half-time next week, what do you think we'll do ???? In that scenario, he may not play again all year. Tyson, come off it, everyone is talking of trading him. He is being overtaken rapidly. Has he worked diligently on his kicking, like tMc has ? His speed and run is poor. So I will discount, 2 of your list wwsw. Edit: Jones you say, probably 3 more years in our inside Mids??? 2019-20-21... Jonesy will be 33Yrs of age, prior to beginning of 2021 Pre-Season. .
  8. This current running of this club is the best I have witnessed since the early 70's. And I assume the board is doing this as well ? CBF, you always lower yourself to play the man, when you have a weak argument, but still try to argue the point. just because you think your protecting the club. But we have to look at our failures, to grow from them. This board has been under heavy scrutiny from the AFL, who have cast a strong eye over our board appointees, since they sent us PJ and Roosy. And so they should have, because of the hopeless work done by our boards/admins over the past 50 years. I am of the strong opinion that the issue with our past weak boards is the Mcc influence, and therefore the reluctance to change from that. The club needs to change from where and what it has been. It is not solely the lack of success that's been our problem. It has all stemmed from the decisions made;,, from hiring of personnel;,, to decisions made that effect the supporters and how they feel about our club. We have been an absolute basket case of a club for 50+ years. Our support base has been weakened in that time, when other teams have gone from strength to strength, as clubs. We cannot claim we are a power club now, as we have recently added a number of members who are climbing on, since we have got the excitement back. The time to judge the strength of a club and its support base is when it's struggling. .
  9. Why don't you throw in TMc, Stretch, DJohnston, Baker, Filopovic, and the rest. In reality we have as inside mids > Jones, Viney, Oliver, Petracca, Harmes this year, and Brayshaw who still carries the Q?... with cameos from Salem, Hogan. If you take out Jones, we are left with Viney Oliver, Petracca, & Harmes I would say;,,, as our main Inside Mid group... with possibly Maynard ? If one of these gets a serious injury, we are seriously thinned out inside. If the game continues using the interchange as it is now, we could do with another genuine power insider. Brayshaw, Salem and Hogan, all play well in other positions.
  10. That's as i remember it as well CBF. And 5 decades of sub standard football and accomplishments for our club says to me I do not want our board in any way associated with the MCC people apart from working groups. I do not want MCC anointed board members, running our Mfclub. We NEED footy people... smart footy people, to make footy decisions; we do not want to be like a cricket club.. We need more access to to this club, and to grow the club's support base, & to grow its diverse base... growing towards independence. No more Mcc Apron strings,,, and meaningless & directionless appointed boards, of pleasant chaps & ladies. Lets get back to Smith or Checker days of lets take the bastards on, attitudes. No more hiding behind aprons.
  11. In strong drafts, we could do a bit with a number of 2nd Rnd and 3rd Rnd picks. We could trade up fairly well. I would be looking to trade off Kent back to the West, if we could get something decent with tour returns. Wet Toast might be looking to top up their list, as they think they're not pretenders. They might like some insurance for cover, as they're window opens in the breeze.
  12. Thats right, and ALL clubs are now trying to out build one another's mid fields, so when will ours get overtaken by most clubs. we are not that far ahead of the masses, and we equal some of the top teams in midfield. Its where we spend our resources, thats Key. In 3 years time, our midfield won't be much stronger if at all, with our attrition. Jones'y will be about dusted off. We want to continue to be the brutes inside. Our outside types can be brought in;,,, and IF the AFL do open the game up further;,,, then outside types with more space to operate in,,, will be easier to come buy. They won't be so special. Just quick and skilled... more like a Garlett, if you like.
  13. My comments Re board,,, have absolutely Nothing, Nothing, to do with Gillon, AT All. but the AFL hierarchy. Gillon is only the face of the AFL. Its the footy people within that organisation, that get the best feedback during the years, that are in the know about footy matters. They gave us PJ and Roosy.
  14. If Wines wanted to move, and we had the opportunity, I would grab him and not Gaff. No slight on Gaff at all, but Wines in our midfield,,, with Vince, Lewis soon, and Jones soon enough as well, all will have finished by 2021-22. That would then leave us inside with, Viney, Oli, Petracca, Harmes, Brayshaw, Salem, Maynard. ... that inside list, looks a LOT better, with Wines added to it. Viney, Wines, Oli, Petracca, Harmes, Brayshaw, Salem, Maynard.
  15. They certainly don't Blinky. But we've made hotchpotch's the fashion statement of the great north. I'm glad we have the AFL support over the past 5 or so years, and still now.
  16. I don't remember which game it was, but I wanted TMc out of defence, and the rucks got hurt. Now I want him to venture back down there, just for cameos, with his newfound kicking skills, and confidence. And I noticed how our transition thru mid ground improved, with him and Pedo using their size across the middle, which really aided our bringing of the ball thru, and into our F50. We sort of stumbled into it... and then we stumbled out of it, when Gawn came back too soon, and Pedo was dropped. This year seems we have learnt, that the midfield is better with the big guy up around the wing.
  17. Yeah, thats why i suggested it, and OMc was starting to show a bit of something, just starting to show signs of emerging. I thought OMc needed to have a bit more responsibility, and the rucks both got injured and Tom's kicking was an issue; at that time. Frost was doing OK. Tommy either needed to play forward, because of his kicking issue, or in the future he wouldn't have been able to keep his spot. The rest now is history, and a fantastic one;,, and his kicking transformation is amazing. I heard he worked on it, with one of our coaches, and he has emerged an amazing footballer. Same re Pedo, I was always optimistic for him, and with a bit of faith and some injuries, and his mindset getting better, he took the opportunity, and he is now a true Demon. His efforts for team and club, i think is fantastic.
  18. players I would consider for trade... Garlett, Tyson, Frost, Kent, Wagner, Hunt, ANB, Stretch, & possible future picks, etc. We have the means, if we want to do it. It just takes 2 to tango, foxtrot, or boogie! ...
  19. I called for TMc to go forward and to ruck... when both Gawn and Spencer were both injured.
  20. So we should wait fore them, to call us...? I say, time for this old conservative girl Mfc, to get onto the front foot and chase down (head-hunt) if you prefer; the players we dream of for the RednBlue.
  21. ... lets lose the negativity around chasing down our dreams. If you can dream it, you can build it. We have to stop putting road blocks in our own way, before we even try. This is why we are not the ones housed in the Olympic swimming centre, for example. This is why our membership is so transient. Only jumping up when we can make finals, in a given year. People have seen the club as being unreliable, and out of reach, and this is what we''ve created over the past 50+Yrs. Its time we changed the mental fabric around the whole club. From the board. down to the sometimes supporter. I've never heard the words,,, "we can't do that", coming out of the Hawthorne footy club_ .
  22. If the Hawks can attract players of quality at seeming regularity;,, then we have to aim at being like them. ... acting like that, and going after Our Dreams.
  23. no, your not... no one has said it would be a simple thing to do... but if one doesn't even try, then one doesn't ever know. If Wines wanted out;,,, picks or players might aid the cause. It would be tough to do, but things that are valuable are hard to come buy.
  24. The people making it good were/are being aided by the AFL's help. WE do not know how good it is, without their support. The AFL have had a much bigger influence on getting us back on track, than is known. The media are aware of it, and are calling on the AFL to do the same, with Carlton, and the Suns.
  25. Gaff approaching 26Yrs. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-west-coast-eagles--andrew-gaff Wines approaching 24Yrs. https://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pp-port-adelaide-power--oliver-wines We can do it, IF we have the WILL. the D'Sire
