Have to agree, with no one getting a crack at the next to draft after this years we should hold on to those 2 valuable picks.

Juice Newton- Criticisms, Comments and Kudos
MadAsHell replied to Biffinator's topic in Melbourne Demons
He's an enigma poor old Juice. I like him cause he can take a grab and he does straighten Melbourne up when he does play but can't see any long term future for him at Melbourne, especially with Watts and Jurrah coming through and the likely recruitment of Butcher. Might be one of those players that stays on the list as back up for a few more years before being delisted and playing out at VFL level or maybe even being the first FF for West Sydney?? hehe. -
Raises the question, will trading pick 2 be considered?

We are now officially on the bottom of the ladder
MadAsHell replied to dees189227's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don't think there'd be that many out there. The only player I'd consider trading pick 2 for would be Vickery from Richmond, but don't think that would happen either. I'd get used to the thought of Scully and Butcher being at Melbourne next year. And by the way Butcher kicked 2 for Gippsland Power in the TAC cup yesterday and was named in their best! -

If we both win 4 each and they finish bottom it will go off this years placing, so they'd get picks 1 and 3 and we'd have 2 and 4. But yeah I wouldn't worry about that to much. -
Jack Watts may debut V's Essendon at Etihad in rd 12
MadAsHell replied to Bring-Back-Powell's topic in Melbourne Demons
I agree with you entierly. Think it would be better for him starting on the larger MCG ground also. I'd like to see him debut in the round 14 match against West Coast also to increase the crowd or possibly even the round 11 Queens Birthday match against Collingwood. Could possibly turn a 50,000 crowd into a 60,000-70,000 crowd. -
Can these players win us a premership?
MadAsHell replied to DangerousDemon's topic in Melbourne Demons
I see what your saying. All the recent premiers have had someone decent rucking for them. Maybe at seasons end Melbourne need to make it their mission to get someone like Vickery from Richmond. Say for example Sylvia and pick 18 in exchange. hehe. Very early I know, but we can always dream. -
I agree with what you say however I would have thought that'd we could only win 6 games at best. It will come down to some of those 50/50 games such as Essendon in round 12 and when we play Richmond again later in the year. End of the day if we win 4 and are able to get Scully and Butcher that will be great for our future. If we win 5 or 6 at least we know the sides already showing a decent improvement after just one year. I still think it's very early though. Well see where we are in 10 weeks time.

Can now add one more to this list Blease - Ankle - Season

Lets just hope Sam has a healthy recovery and is ready and prime to go for a full pre-season which he will be able to do given his schooling will be completed. Fingers crossed will be cherry ripe come November.
-
I'll be there, 2nd level southern stand. At least till we're 10 goals down. Then I'll be in the Lindsay Hassett room drinking till the end!
-
Lets hope it's not true. If it is, isn't going to help him push for Casey selection this year.

I remember Tingay got off chraging Peter Dean back in 1998 I think? hehe.

MadAsHell replied to DangerousDemon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Fair enough given his run over the last few years. Fingers crossed that he finally has his body right and can be the sgt of a premiership winning defence along with Martin, Garland, Frawley, Warnock & Bennell. -

I noticed you have Rivers down as a No? Any reason for that inparticular? He's still relatively young. -
I don't believe it gets you in because of the replacement game. I have a 16 game membership and I know I can't get into Manuka with it.
-
Forgot to put in who was looking good sorry everyone: Jones Watts McLean Frawley Morton Petterd Grimes Green Maric Garland Moloney McDonald Robertson Rivers Bruce Wonna Martin Davey Warnock Jetta Spencer Bennell Blease Strauss Jurrah Healey All of the above I'd like to think will not only be safe on the list going into next year but will play out their careers in the Red and Blue. As for the players I haven't mentioned I hope they can go on to prove me wrong. Only time will tell how acurate I am.

Personally my list would read something like. TRADE BAIT: Buckley-Has dash but uses the ball as well as Rhyce Shaw does. Bate-Needs to lift his performance this year, if he does you'd keep. Sylvia-So much potential but still yet to realise it. Melbourne may look to stock up on draft picks. Dunn-Bit of a goer but still yet to cement a place in the side. Bell-Lot of young players putting their hands up for his position. Newton-Someone like the Bulldogs could be interested. Needs to improve his kicking. Wheatley-Wont retire at seasons end and with Melbourne's crop of young midfielders/defenders in the waiting may trade him? GOING-GONE: Whelan-I love Whelan but will Melbourne enforce retirement on him at seasons end? Johnson/Jamar/Meesen-With the emergence of Spencer who will come off the rookie list at seasons end you'd expect one of the three will be moved on. At this stage I'd expect Jamar. Valentti-Great little player but Melbourne have several similar player. eg. McLean/Jones/Bartram. Zomer-After another season on the rookie list can't see Melbourne keeping him. Any other names anyone would think would be on either list or any names that you'd think I've put down shouldn't be there?

I think a better question would have been how many of these players will still be with us in 2012 when we can challenge for a premiership again? Of that question I would have said. Buckley-Yes Jones-Yes Bartram-Yes Watts-Yes McLean-Yes Bate-Yes Miller-Traded Gold Coast Frawley-Yes Morton-Yes Johnson-Yes Sylvia-Traded Dunn-Traded Petterd-Yes Grimes-Yes Green-Retired Maric-Yes Garland-Yes Bell-Traded Moloney-Yes McDonald-Retired Robertson-Retired Cheney-Yes Meesen-Yes Rivers-Yes Newton-Traded West Sydney McNamara-Yes Wheatley-Retired Bruce-Retired Wonna-Yes Martin-Yes Davey-Yes Warnock-Yes Jetta-Yes Jamar-Delisted Bail-Traded Gold Coast Bennell-Yes Whelan-Retired Blease-Yes Strauss-Yes Jurrah-Yes ROOKIES Spencer-Promoted Healey-Promoted * Note the reason there aren't to many players delisted as due to the fact we have a young side and for two drafts in a row GC and WS will have all the picks we will be more inclined to hold on to more players rather then delisting large numbers at a time. -
Thanks for that Ghost. Lets hope Robbo can have a positive first game back and kick at least 3 goals. Set his season up to hopefully kick about 50!
-
I admire your position on the issue and hope that we are able to do that. Ideally we wont have to move any games away from the G in the near future.

If we were to look at playing some matches at another stadium Princess Park would be the best option once their development is completed. And play say 3 home games against interstate sides there a year. Idealy it would be wonderful if we could develope Casey, however that just isn't realistic. As far as neutral venues go, Bulldogs are talking about getting out of NT, so that would be an option, or possibly even playing three games a year down at Belrieve Oval in Hobart?

Agree Bell may be moved on to either Adelaide or Port Adelaide and Sylvia could be looked to be moved on to somewhere like Brisbane. Dunn may well be shipped off also. I think Bate will stay, think he's got a few more tickets then the other three.
