  1. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/teams/eddie-mcguire-will-lead-an-all-collingwood-commentary-panel-owhen-the-magpies-meet-richmond/story-e6frf9kx-1226622915089 You have got to be kidding me! When are they going to offer one for every team? Who would we have Garry Lyon, David Schwarz, Dr Turf and Gerrard Healy? Edit: Spelling
  2. I agree Roost. Would love to see Watts and Sylvia sign on for 2 more years each at seasons end. Frawley sees out his contract for next season. Jamar stays on as insurance for Gawn for the remained of his contract. We draft midfielders with our first two picks in the next draft if we can't trade for a big fish. We have another pre-season into the likes of Toumpas, Taggert, Viney, Blease to grow as midfielders. Our 2014 Best 22 could look something along the lines of: FB: Garland, Frawley, Terlich HB: Grimes, McDonald, Toumpas C: Howe, N. Jones, Bail HF: Watts, Hogan, Tapscott FF: Clark, Dawes, Byrnes FOLL: Gawn, Sylvia, Viney INT: Blease, Jetta, Trengove SUB: Taggert EMERG: Dunn, Kent, McKenzie Edit: Spell
  3. It's a big year for those two along with Fitzpatrick & Davis I reckon to determine whether or not they have what it takes to make it or not. If Jamar's form continues to go south and if as some people are saying Frawley wants out that may help Fitzpatrick & Davis. I really hope Taggert can get over his injuries and comes on cause we really need midfielders and some of what I have seen of him does look promising. I'm confussed....
  4. While I understand your concerns the fact of the matter is this isn't something that Essendon, the AFL and even ASADA can just sweep under the rug. Even if the AFL convinced ASADA to impose a slap on the wrist type penalty (if something breaching the rules did occur) that penalty is answerable to WADA. If WADA aren't affraid to keep pushing and going after the likes of Lance Armstrong, I don't think Essendon and the AFL will give them to many sleepless nights.
  5. Good bump. Seems like everyone (including myself) was keen to get him back then with several people suggesting we use pick 33 (Howe) so glad we didn't go that early. Although in hnindsight we should have taken him at pick 12!
  6. We just need them to go back to 1965 and stop Norm Smith from being sacked and everything will be fine!
  7. Just saw a photo. Your not wrong!
  8. IN: Gawn, Strauss OUT: Sellar, Toumpas FB: Frawley, McDonald, Terlich HB: Howe, Pedersen, Strauss C: M. Jones, N. Jones, Bail HF: Trengove, Clark, Tapscott FF: Garland, Jamar, Byrnes FOLL: Gawn, Sylvia, Viney INT: Evans, Grimes, Jetta SUB: Davey EMERG: Blease, Kent, Sellar Gawn comes in to play as our no 1 ruck. As Jamar has a year deal and we need to figure out what to do with him, he gets the no 2 ruck role and tried deep forward. Strauss goes onto half back to give us another good distributer back there and I'd move Howe back there also to help us with some run. Garland up forward as he's been out of form down back and I'd like to see a bit more from Blease and Watts before getting back in. Kent is very close. Toumpas misses out as has been discussed, he needs some time at Casey to get some form and Sellar has had very little impact so far.
  9. Wont Jones be an unrestricted free agent at the end of 2015 as that will be his 10th season. He played in our last finals win in 2006. One of the few remaining.
  10. Cook, Morton, Gysberts, Lawrence, Campbell. It goes both ways and the 5 I've mentioned cost us a lot more then the 5 you mentioned. Were 10 points down at half time so we lost the 2nd half by 84 which is what was being stated.
  11. Thanks KC. Look forward to your report and which Dees players played well.
  12. All our required players have signed over power of attorney to Jack so he can sign them up on new contracts???
  13. How about Mal Waldon the channel 10 news reader? He's a demons man! haha. In more seriousnes though if we were after a new president I'd of thought either Don Argus or Greg Wells would be good fits.
  14. Not a lot of love for my left field suggestion of Tim Holding, understandable though, especially if you vote Liberal. I lived in his electorat and he's been a really good operator there. And no one's even commented on Tony Dodemaide who I reckon would be a good candidate. All in all though I reckon Eugen Arocca seems to make the most sense.
  15. Essendon: Gavin Wanganeen North Melbourne: Peter Bell West Coast: Chris Judd Hawthorn: Darren Jarman Collingwood: Peter Moore Geelong: Garry Ablett Jnr St Kilda: Tony Lockett
  16. Would love Swan or Cook but doubt either would happen. Tony Dodemaide has been CEO at WA Warriors & Vic Bushrangers throughout succesful periods for both of those organisations and if memory serves me correctly is a Dees fan, although I could have him confussed? Eugen Arocca as mentioned elsewhere could also be worth a look. Out of left field we could also look at the recently retired state politican Tim Holding. Very smart and succesful man who held portfolios in tourism and finance while in office and opposition.
  17. That was 2004. 2005 we sneaked into the finals by winning our last 3 games against Geelong, Bulldogs & Essendon by a combined margin of about 14 points.
  18. Not a bad idea. Would love to see Junior come back as midfield coach. If things don't improve for Neeld this year and they do look at hiring a new senior coach at the end of the year and can't get a Roos, Clarkson or Worsfold I'd love to see them throw everything at Brett Lovett. I know it's only VFL, but if anyone ever watched any of the teams he coached, Frankston, Sandringham, Casey, they always played for him even though their lists often weren't that great. He seems to have an ability to take the players along with him with his game plan/coaching style. We could do with someone like that! Yep, he did very well coaching over in the WAFL for a few years and is now up with the Lions. Would love to see him come back, from what I've heard he still loves the club also. Would also be a good midfield coach I would have thought.
  19. I posted the below in the Don McLardy letter thread: I agree with Don that now's not the time for knee jerk reactions. However if things don't start to seriously improve by the mid season bye I'd be all for a board spill and the removal of Schwab. Don Argus, Guy Jalland, Neil Mitchell or Greg Wells in as President. Adrian Anderson, Eugen Arocca or Tony Dodemaide in as CEO, as much as I'd love Cook, I can't see him leaving Geelong. Then at seasons end a decision can be made on Neeld, having said that unless we could land one of Paul Roos, Alaistair Clarkson, John Worsfold, Brett Ratten or Brett Lovett as coach then I'd be happy enough for Neeld to see out his 3 years. Also would love Ling to come on board as midfield coach.
  20. Haha, love it Choko! I don't disagree and he'd be my 4th choice of those 4 names I mentioned. But end of the day he's one of the most influential and some would say powerful identities in Melbourne, so we could do worse....
  21. I agree with Don that now's not the time for knee jerk reactions. 22. When it comes to Rodan and Byrnes I think what they bring to the table is probably greater around the club and off the field then what it is on it. They've been recruited with a view to play 1 maybe 2 years each but help show some of our young players the ropes and how things should be done to help re-shape our culture. Pretty much what GWS did by recruting the likes of Power and McDonald last year, not so much for on field play but off field. Anything that we get out of Byrnes and Rodan on field should be seen as a bonus really, the recruitment of them is due to our mistakes of shipping McDonald and Bruce off early. We need senior heads arounf the place. An Byrnes as a free agent and Rodan for Morton cost us nothing so I have no issue with them having been recruited. Pedersen probably is the one that we may have paid overs for and Gillies cost us nothing as a free agent but early signs don't look to promising.
  23. Troy Davis was also a late withdrawal from Casey due to being ill.
