  1. Am I the only one to find the Phrase "that indigenous flair" to be really racist?
  2. Sam day at 3. Guess that makes Bennell 2.
  3. 4 picks and we get to find out. Damn I hope we get Lynch.
  4. 4 WC A Gaff
  5. Anyone want to bet against Gaff going at 4?
  6. 5 BL. J Polec.
  7. No bad options in that pair.
  8. 6 Richmond. R COnca What a surprise!
  9. Now we have the three interesting ones.
  10. SEN have it. 7. GC J Caddy.
  11. Yeah. That would really suck.
  12. 8 Bombers. Heppell.
  13. I guess the Bombers didn't want him after all.
  14. 9 GC. Dion Prestia. Interesting.
  15. Great start for us. :D
  16. 10. GC D Gorringe
  17. Well, it's a hair after 7pm and the drafting is soon to begin. Matt Burgan is chatting on the MFC website and says he has no idea who we're taking. Looks to be an interesting night. Demetriou about to begin...
  18. Entirely irrelevant, but I really hate people using Occam's Razor as a reason why something can't be true. Occam's Razor is not a hard and fast rule. It in no way disallows complex or convoluted notions, but merely suggests that these are less likely than simple ones. The number of times I've been involved with endless arguments with people who can only repeat variations of "Occam's Razor says that that's impossible!" is staggering.
  19. I'd be thrilled if Prestia went early to the Bombers. It could really change the makeup of the first round. Obviously, same goes for Conca. If there's a chance that Lynch will slip because of this, I'm all for it.
  20. Interesting interview. I know he's trying to sell himself and the article itself has been edited to make him look ok, but to some extent it has reassured me. For starters, it gives us some actual information regarding his sexual transgressions that led to being suspended, and it's nothing that half of us haven't done ourselves. The fact that he was aware of the rumourmongering and took police reports along to his interviews as evidence that he was not at fault is a good thing. Once again, evidence that he hasn't been running wild out west. I'm still not sold, but it's a good article which I find reassuring.
  21. I got nothing. I think this one is too close to call and relies too much on what the GC do with their early picks. If I were them I'd be basing it on needs more than BA, so it could get very interesting.
  22. Mostly talked about a conference he's been attending. How sports reach their fan communities and where it is going in the future. Live vs delayed telecast. That sort of thing. Brief mention of Aussie and how the club is helping him. They asked who we're wanting to draft, which he deflected basically by saying that BP hasn't told him yet but he'll be happy to act very wise and knowing after the event. That's pretty much it.
  23. I think this guy needs to share some of whatever it is he's been smoking. Melbourne have two known criteria for selecting players in this draft. Firstly the cliche "best available" and secondly that we need a powerful "stay at home" forward to play from the goalsquare while Watts and Jurrah roam. How do his selections fit into that scenario? I can perhaps see Gorringe as BA, but in reality the crop available at 12 will be so even that you could pick randomly between half a dozen. That being the case we are more likely to take the one that fits our second criteria if possible and look to take a KPF who lands within that group. Should no KPF of sufficient quality be available, our club have a track record of taking fast skillful midfielders with good tanks. I'd take that bet over a ruck, however impressive he may be. Our later picks have me equally confused. 2 tallish defenders of debatable quality and a Robertson clone. Once again, they fail to meet any discernible need in our team, can not realistically be claimed to be BA, and do not fit any of the criteria we know the club to be using. Why then would we be looking at them? I'll be happy to admit to being wrong tomorrow night if we take any of these, but I really think I'm safe on this one.
  24. However if Strauss learns to compete for the ball, he will be in contention very quickly. His kicking is a weapon rather than a 50/50 proposition.
  25. He's improved, but it is still an issue for him. He is in much the same position as Cheney was. Very good 1-1 competitor, able to beat his opponent to the ball, but we can't be sure what happens after. I agree that he's become better, but with guys like Straus out there earmarked for rebounding roles his days could be numbered.
