  1. He most likely will but that shouldnt preclude him from playing elsewhere. Thommo was recruited as a winger. How did that work out? Brayshaw came 3rd in the Brownlow as a mid. Pickett will likely spend good time in the midfield. Flexibility & unpredictability will or should be the mantra this year.
  2. Essendon used to run their own site for years. Not sure if they still do but they had a separate deal.
  3. Maybe Hunter can play half fwd? Just because he has been a wingman doesn't mean he will stay one.
  4. And if we are out in straight sets again you think thats a pass? Not for me.
  5. 2 out of the next 3 GFs Our list is primed, we know what it takes. Injuries are a factor but even though we bottled it second half last year we were the leading defence and ahead in every game, Key for me is how the coaching staff adapt to competitors ripping our game apart. Flexibility and unpredictability will go a long way to us succeeding
  6. The players were fitter than they had ever been according to club stats. Last year was not a fitness issue The problem stems from them working really hard in pre-season to perform at home. They basically didn't have a break over the summer and never switched off. They were super keen and worked extremely hard over the summer. But they totally cooked mentally half way through the year. Hence the allusion to 'work vs footy balance' in Jan / Feb
  7. Bulldogs in 21 lost by 74pts finished 8th the following year Adelaide in 17 lost by 68pts - 12th Sydney in 14 lost by 63pts - 4th Port in 07 lost by 119pts - 13th Swans the stand out...
  8. Melkshams mark in the final minute against 4 Carlton players was epic
  9. Because Collingwood managed the salary cap so well when Bucks was coach.....
  10. Is happening today down on the Mornington Peninsula for those that are interested. Lots of players in attendance I'm told. Good luck to Adam and his lovely bride
  11. Has anyone ever thought that the club is showing the out of contract player some love and trying to subtly increase pressure on them to stay? Seems obvious to me
  12. Just because a player comes into the squad as a defender doesn't mean he will stay there. TMac is a good example. Most junior players have to learn defence when they get to the AFL. Like Bowey. Often KPPs are in the fwd line in juniors and have to learn defence. You don't want 21 Daniel Turners but plenty of players end up in different spots to where they started.
  13. Can't have enough. And with May over 30 we will need a replacement soon enough. And some of them can be moved fwd
  14. Hawkins is umpired differently to other players, as was Selwood, Goodes, Dangerfield and the whole of the Western Bulldogs FC Its beyond a joke that WBFC continually receive lopsided free kick counts. Statistical outlier. Just like Selwood and his high tackles that they tried to change the rule over.
  15. I think they will be copying Geelong with Blicavs and Stanley where Max takes the ruck and heads to CHB while Grundy rucks around the ground - his mobility is very good.
  16. He is a cheat with his pushing and rarely gets called out
  17. Barring a catastrophe JVR will play round 1 Take it to the bank.
  18. Spargs has beefed up a bit...
  19. Of course it CAN be done if the player has the mental strength and will to do it. Some like Watts never had the desire, some like Weid wanted to but couldn't get there. I still maintain that hardness at the contest and a fierce desire to win contests is rarely taught. It's innate mostly.
  20. Averages are meaningless in his context.
  21. Fritsch had outstanding form at Casey.
  22. Boil away Richmond is in a marginal Greens./Labor electorate as is Footscray and Casey is in a Liberal zone. Good luck getting money for them from the State Govt in Vic
  23. Its irrelevant but I would say the club was actively trying to climb up the draft order because the players like Phillipou were significantly better. I saw nothing in his highlights or other clips that demonstrated any aggression or physicality. He looks like a nice schoolboy player. And aggression and physicality IMO can't be taught or learned. A bit like Weid. Cant think of one successful KPP that doesn't have it. So I would say the odds are against him being the one to do it.
  24. I wish the lad well. He wouldn't have been my pick but he is now a Melbourne player and I am happy to support him.
  25. Recruiters often talk about 'types' of players rather than saying he is the next Buddy or Cyril If you saw Kozzie and said he plays in the same style as Cyril you would immediately know what sort of player he was without suggesting he was going to be as good or better.
