  1. The stats for yesterday's Casey games are out courtesy of the club and these are the highlights: Casey had 188 kicks to Coburg's 171 but the Tigers had 198 handpasses to 126 and finished with 55 more disposals. They narrowly led marks taken 74-69 but the Scorps comfortably won both the tackle count 97 to 62 and spoils 31-11. The most interesting team stat (apart from the final scoreboard) was the inside 50s which had Coburg well ahead 59-39. Casey made the most of its low number of inside 50s into the wind when it booted three goals in the opening quarter and two in the third. Coburg managed only one goal into the wind and that came early in the second term. Clearly, the home side's more efficient use of the football was an important factor in helping it to set up the win. On an individual level Ben MacReadie and Michael Stockdale both managed 24 disposals, the former having 10 kicks & 14 handballs and the latter had 16 kicks 8 handpasses. James Wall posted 20 disposals and first gamer Wade Lees finished with 19 disposals. The Demons posted the following results:- Simon Buckley 7 kicks, 11 handballs 1 mark Danny Hughes 12 kicks, 2 handballs 6 marks 2 goals 1 behind Jake Spencer 2 kicks 8 handballs 3 marks Russell Robertson 3 kicks 5 handballs Trent Zomer 6 kicks 2 handballs 1 goal In the reserves Tom McNamara finished with 12 kicks 12 handballs and 5 marks. The team played half a dozen first gamers from local comps to cover the numbers now filling in at senior level.

  4. Three Quarter Time: Casey 9.7.61 to Coburg 7.11.53 Fantastic endeavour from the Casey boys. They have the wind in the last quarter and as long as they keep working hard they will make this an historic victory.
  5. Half time and it's a hard fought 4 goal lead to the Scorps - 7.6.48 to 3.6.24. Goals Buckley Creed Hughes MacReadie Stockdale Waite Zomer Question is can they keep it up and will my battery last?
  6. Tigers better against the wind and get the first goal of the second.

  8. It's a big day for the Scorps today as a lot of homegrown players get their opportunity with 11 changes and very few Dees in the side. 10. His season at Casey has been a little interrupted because he also reporesented NT in the Under 18 Championships as one of their overage players. He was super impressive early but dropped away a bit and is coming good again now. Just to round off the report on the weekend, here are the coach's comments on the four Demons who played in the reserves at Coburg - Reserves Simon Buckley – Simon only played a half. He had seven or eight possessions and was OK. But he needed a run under his belt, so hopefully he can build on that and play three quarters next week. We hope he can play senior footy for Casey again soon and then potentially play some games late in the season for Melbourne. Tom McNamara – Tom played a half, winning seven or eight possessions. A lack of discipline ruined him getting a good rating. He had a five-minute period where he gave away some undisciplined free kicks. It was something that disappointed the coaching staff. Hopefully, he'll learn from that and show in the next five or six games what he is capable of by the end of the year. Jake Spencer – Jake rucked for most of the game. He's come back from a three-week lay-off. He's had some bad luck in recent times, but he got a good four-quarter hit-out which he's needed for a while. He didn't set the world on fire, but got a run around. Trent Zomer – He had the opportunity to be a game-breaker, as the team only lost by a point. But Trent kicked 1.5 and if you turn that around to 5.1, it steadies the ship. He took some good marks and mainly played forward, but making the most of his opportunities probably just holds him back a little bit.
  11. Casey reserves went down to Coburg by 1 point in a thriller this afternoon - 13.12.90 to 14.7.91. Details to come.
  12. The match stats: Kyle Cheney 15 kicks 10 handballs 8 marks 5 tackles Danny Hughes 12 kicks 4 handballs 7 marks 1 tackle 2 goals 1 behind Paul Johnson 12 kicks 5 handballs 1 mark 1 tackle Jordie McKenzie 11 kicks 17 handballs 4 marks 3 tackles Brad Miller 8 kicks 12 handballs 5 marks 1 tackle 1 goal 4 behinds Michael Newton 10 kicks 2 handballs 6 marks 3 tackles 4 goals 1 behind Shane Valenti 13 kicks 12 handballs 2 marks 5 tackles 2 behinds Jack Watts 8 kicks 7 handballs 1 mark 3 tackles Matthew Whelan 9 kicks 10 handballs 4 marks 3 tackles 1 goal
  13. It's all over and a big 62 point win to Casey. Always good to win against Collingwood! Casey Scorpions 4.5 7.6 11.14 16.19 115 Collingwood 1.0 2.8 3.10 7.11 53 Goals Casey Scorpions Newton 4 Hughes Stockdale 2 Collins Donchi McGough Matthews Miller Mohr Scanlon Whelan Collingwood Bryan 3 Cooke Dawes Reed Sidebottom Best Casey Scorpions Matthews McKenzie Valenti Johnson Wall Newton Collingwood Cook Keefe Reed Blight Clarke Sidebottom Leading possession gatherers were McKenzie (28), Cheney (25), Valenti (25) and Matthews (22) - officiaal stats.
  14. The Ressies play at City Oval, Coburg tomorrow. Rohan Bail didn't play for the seniors today so he might turn up in the reserves with Buckley, McNamara, Spencer and Zomer. Casey 11.14.80 to Collingwood 3.10.28 but the Pies have a strong wind advantage in the last. That was Juice's quarter with 3 goals after Casey started slowly with the advantage of the breeze. Cheney has 17 possessions, Valenti 14 and McKenzie 13.
  15. Half time Casey 7.6.48 to Collingwood 2.8.20. PJ dominating the ruck, Valenti and Jordie McKenzie doing well on the ball. Skipper Kyle Matthews playing strongly. Goals Hughes McGough Miller Mohr Newton Scanlon Whelan Kyle Cheney has 15 possessions and 4 marks with Shane Valenti and Matty Whelan 11 each
  16. Casey 4.5.29 to Collingwood 1.0.6 Goals McGough Mohr Scanlon Whelan Kyle Cheney has had 10 touches and 3 strong marks but his disposal has been ordinary although conditions are not great. They are tailor made for an in and under man like Shane Valenti who has had seven disposals, most of them in the clinches.
  17. I'll try although it's lonely here. More cops than spectators!
