  4. It's a big night for the Casey Scorpions with the club's best and fairest. I hope to bring you the results later this evening.
  5. Brad Gotch has been great in his two years as coach of the Scorpions but, as the MFC's coaching set up for next year is being unveiled, he waits for word on his future. Nervous wait for Casey Scorpions coach Brad Gotch I think he's done a fantastic job along with reserves coach Steve O'Brien and I hope the association continues. The last thing we want to see is a situation such as the one that occurred between St. Kilda and Sandringham where the VFL alignment partner was poorly treated under Ross Lyon.
  6. Melbourne academy coach Kelly O'Donnell runs through the Demons who played for the Scorpions in the ill-fated First Semi Final - Semi-final Casey player review
  7. Shane Valenti became the third player in VFL history to claim consecutive Liston Medals, winning the League's best and fairest award by 10 votes last night. Valenti was previously a rookie with Melbourne and also played for Sandringham and the Casey Scorpions respectively during the time he was a Demon and those clubs were alignment partners. Valenti won the count with 25 votes, with Melbourne's Matthew Bate coming in second. Valenti is considered a chance to join Tom whatsizname on the Giants list next year. Carlton's Brock McLean who was favourite, failed to reach double figures in the vote count. Casey's Tim Mohr (back pocket) and James Wall (interchange) made the VFL Team of the Year. Congratulations to Casey's long serving president, John Sharkie, who has been awarded life membership of the VFL.
  8. And that is all folks ... a dismal and disappointing end to a season that promised so much for a team that finished off the home and away season a fortnight ago with a 100 point win against a team whose finals prospects are still alive. Casey Scorpions 1.2.8 2.8.20 3.12.30 6.15.51 Werribee Tigers 5.3.33 9.8.62 11.12.78 16.17.113 Goals Casey Scorpions Bate Dunn Fitzpatrick McNamara Matthews Nicholson Werribee Tigers Ross 4 McKinley Tighe Warren 2 Castello Gleeson Harding Sharp Sullivan Tuck Best Casey Scorpions Stockdale Lees Warnock Panozza Mohr Nicholson Werribee Tigers Mangan Ross Harding Sharp Martiniello McKinley
  9. Goal to Dan Nicholson for Casey's sixth. The game is petering out and so is Casey's season. They trail 105 - 50.
  10. Matthew Bate goals from 50. The guy's worked his butt off against the odds. The breaks just haven't come his way.
  11. An idiot in the crowd just came up with a knee slapping piece of original humour directed at Fev in which he mentioned Crown Casino. I suppose Fev has to put up with morons like that every week. Meanwhile, the lead has extended to 10 goals.
  12. Quick reply to Werribee and a fight in the Casey forward line.
  13. First goal of the final quarter to Jack Fitzpatrick after a solid mark.
  14. Three Quarter Time: Casey Scorpions 3.12.30 Werribee Tigers 11.12.78 Goals: Dunn McNamara Matthews No miracles today.
  15. Goal to Dunn early in the third but a snap for a quick answer to the Tigers.
  16. Looks like Casey have left their worst till last. Half time: Casey Scorpions 2.8.20 Werribee Tigers 9.8.62 Goals McNamara Matthews Tom McNamara looks done for the day.
  17. The Casey players simply can't overcome their fit of fumbles. They are playing hesitant, indirect football and the turnovers continue. To make matters worse, the umpire pays an incredible 50 metre penalty to give Werribee a lead of 6 goals.
  18. Werribee making the most of their opportunities. Kick two quick goals and the lead is 31 points. Shades of last week.
  19. A courageous skipper's goal from Kyle Matthews gets them going early in the quarter after some missed shots.
  20. Quarter Time: Casey Scorpions 1.2.8 Werribee Tigers 5.3.33 Goal to Tom McNamara who seems to be stuggling with an injury. He was limping on the boundary and has had attention to what could be an ankle or a calf?
  21. Late in the quarter and Werribee have added two more goals and lead by 24 points. Casey's poor disposal and inefficiency going into attack is hurting while the Tigers are playing with more purpose and intensity. The Casey forwards are being well held and are struggling to get any touches.
  22. Tom McNamara marks a long Bate pass for Casey's first goal - the Scorps trail 1.1.7 to 3.0.18.
  23. After a scrappy start to the game, the Tigers take their opportunities and kick the first three goals of the game. Even at this early stage they look more switched on than the Scorpions who are fumbling the ball and turning it over with regularity.
  24. Jordie McKenzie, Jack Grimes and Sam Blease have arrived at the ground. Sam is eligible to play but he's been crook all week so was forced to miss. Nev Jetta went in for a shoulder operation this week so his season is over. I believe it's also over for Addam Maric. And ... no ... Tom Scully hasn't been sighted so there's no reason to merge this thread The final team: CASEY SCORPIONS Backs McDonald Warnock Stockdale Half backs Panozza Mohr Lees Centreline Bail Bate J Wall Half forwards Petropoulos Dunn McGough Forwards Fitzpatrick Fevola Matthews Followers Gawn McNamara Nicholson Interchange Campbell Collins Davis Lindsay* Nicholls * 23rd player
  25. Juice Newton misses out today. He's here in the crowd talking with Jake Spencer and former teammates Paul Johnson and Kyle Cheney. Apparently, Kelvin Lawrence is also out of the squad named on Thursday night which leaves Casey with just 11 AFL listed players.
