  1. The VFL website has this interesting article on the game:- Preview: Box Hill Hawks vs Casey Scorpions

  3. Just a heads up that I understand the game this week will be the ABC televised game. If so, it will be the first time this year after seven rounds that the Scorpions will be featuring either on television or radio despite the fact that they're 5-1). Of course, it makes the day an easy one for me because more people will be posting their views and the scores and I can relax a bit
  4. Casey Scorpions 5.2.32 10.4.64 14.6.90 22.8.150 Geelong Cats 1.5.11 5.5.35 11.5.71 14.10.94 Goals Casey Scorpions Fitzpatrick Watts 4 Cook Lawrence Petterd Plummer 2 Blease Fieldsend Jurrah McGough Riseley Spencer Geelong Cats Kersten 6 Wojcinski 2 Gibbs Gleeson Horlin-Smith Schroder Selwood Walker Best Casey Scorpions Couch Bennell Fitzpatrick Petterd Nicholson Watts Geelong Cats Kersten Horlin-Smith Sheringham Schroder McCarthy Simpkin Jordan Gysberts and Jack Viney both gone to hospital with suspected broken jaws.
  5. Give us a break. Apart from his four goals at this late stage of the game Watts would be close on 20 touches. Viney is now off the ground after that collision. And the siren sounds. It's all over with Casey Scorps 22.8.140 to Geelong Cats 14.10.94. Cold here and nothing to do for an hour but walk smugly among the Cats fans. Best for Casey were Watts, Bennell and Fitzpatrick.
  6. Not a close one here today. Casey 9 goals in front. Watts has four! Jack Viney is one tough kid. Dishes it out and gets it back in spades. The hit on him was pretty crude IMO.
  7. Ten minutes into the last, Casey Scorpions 17.7.109 to 12.5.77. Official now - Team sheets in for Geelong v Melb. Selwood and Lonergan both out. Byrnes and Gillies in. No changes for Melbourne.
  8. Liam kicks his first and the first of the final quarter!!! Welcome back Jurrahcane and yes, to answer the last question, he's doing ok for a bloke who hasn't played since August and has had such a tough time in between. Lead out to 31 points.
  9. Three quarter time: Casey Scorpions 15.6.96 to Geelong Cats 11.5.71 A couple of late goals to the Cats after Casey dominated the quarter apart from the opening five minutes.
  10. All Casey now as they lead 96 to 65 late in the quarter.
  11. This is just a rumour but the story going around is that Joel Selwood is out of the big one.
  12. Now 25 points. Damn, I was looking forward to another close one!
  13. Watts kicks his third - margin 19 points. Gysberts off injured.
  14. Cats closing in with the first three goals of the quarter. Casey's lead down to 2 goals. Jack Viney acquitting himself well.
  15. Half time Casey Scorpions 5.2.32 10.4.64 Geelong Cats 1.5.11 5.5.35 Jack Watts is starring with two goals.
  16. Casey 9.4.58 Geelong 5.5.35 closing in on half time.
  17. Sure is WJ. A little over halfway through the term and Casey lead 9.2.56 to 4.5.29.
  18. Liam's doing well. Probably had half a dozen touches in the first quarter. Cats start the second quarter well with a couple of goals but Casey still leads by 9 points.
  19. At quarter time: Casey Scorpions 5.2.32 lead Geelong Cats 1.5.11. Jurrah and Watts both doing well with the latter scoring a goal on the siren.

  21. Like last year, the Casey Scorpions will take on Geelong VFL at Simonds Stadium on Saturday in the curtain raiser to the Geelong v Melbourne game. Unlike last year, when the VFL Cats were the underdogs and won by 128 points in an ominous preview of the later game, this year they will start as favourites. And seating will be hard to get for the Casey folk according to the VFL website. Due to the redevelopment of Simonds Stadium (involving the Doug Wade Stand and the Southern Terrace), a large number of reserved seats at the Stadium have been lost. As a result, this has had an impact on the entry details for VFL curtain raiser matches. VFL Club supporters and general public will be required to pre-book general admission standing room entry or a daily reserved seat prior to the match to guarantee their entry on match-day. Please see the information below about Peter Jackson VFL games that will be influenced. Please note: VFL Passes and Club Memberships WILL NOT give you access to Simonds Stadium for these games. All supporters must book a ticket through Ticketmaster. I'll be back tomorrow night with the VFL teams. The Development League team has its second bye of the season this weekend (the first was just three weeks ago).
  22. In answer to some of the queries above, Bennell went really well when down back. He also drifted forward for a valuable goal in the last quarter. I think he might finally be getting the idea and I hope he's fit to vie for selection next week. Melbourne needs an injection of pace against the Cats and given that Geelong played interstate and on a heavy track it's worth considering. Sam Blease would have gotten some confidence back today as well. Rory Taggert did a few nice things but had no real impact which is to be expected in his first game. Jai Sheehan is going to be very good. Give him a season to develop at this level and he will be a bit of a revelation next year. Ricky Petterd - only one goal and not as good as his game a fortnight ago. Probably suffered as a result of last week's bye and I would have gone with him ahead of Sylvia v the Saints - it would have given Colin more of an opportunity to gain some valuable match fitness. I agree with the Master about Panozza and Lees but I think the so-called "drug" issue is not a major one. As I understand it, he took some supplements and wasn't aware of their precise content. Doesn't sound like a major case to me.

  24. Yes - Casey win another nailbiter!
  25. Casey free and shot for goal coming up. Yes! It's Sam Blease who plays on and kicks an amazing snap goal from the boundary at the 36 minute mark. His third goal puts the Scorps up by a point. Ring the bell for god's sake!
