  1. The four players - from the Casey Scorpions site:- Casey Players and Their AFL Opportunity
  2. If you know the expression "money talks" I suspect there hasn't been much talking over at Casey. The Scorps relied on a number of young players replacing more seasoned and bigger bodied players who left and this put everyone under the pump. They need to attract a couple of more mature players to the camp and hope that there aren't too many injuries at Melbourne. The Dees suffered badly early in the season with the loss of rucks and tall forwards. This filtered down to Casey which also had injury issues. When Jake Spencer went down it was a major blow because ruck, midfield and key position strength is vital and the alignment simply didn't have enough of thaese ingredients to match it with some of the others. FInally, with the team trying to emulate the defensive style that was being instilled at Melbourne, it simply didn't work because the young kids struggled to cope with the demands of that sort of game plan. One piece of good news is that skipper Evan Panozza has apparently told the club he will play on in 2015.
  3. Following on from the appointment of Justin Plapp as senior coach, the Casey Scorpions have appointed former premiership coach Michael Ford as senior assistant coach. Ford coached the Scorpions prior to their move out to Casey when they were known as Springvale.
  4. Commercial television is set to take over the broadcasting of VFL games ~ VFL and WAFL set for Channel Seven in 2015. Let's hope they give Casey a bit more coverage than the ABC did in recent years.
  5. The surprise is that Rohan Welsh has been discarded only weeks after General Manager Matt Young waxed lyrical about him. I get that they've always wanted a full time coach but the message we were getting was that Welsh was the best thing since sliced bread. It sounds like there's more to this than meets the eye.
  6. Gawn wins Casey best and fairest
  7. Congratulations to Max Gawn who follows in the footsteps of last years Gardner/Clark Medallist Jesse Hogan. Those two will play a big role in the MFC revival. The leaderboard: 1. Max Gawn 70 votes 2. Evan Panozza 66 3. Jordie McKenzie 65 4. Viv Michie 45 5. Edward Morris 39 6. James Harmes 37 7. Alexis Georgiou 36 8. Aiden Riley 34
  8. The Casey Scorpions best and fairest presentation is on tonight, the main award being the Gardner/Clark Medal. The function is on at the prestigious Sandhurst Club and I reckon we can expect some awards to go the way of some Demons.
  9. He definitely goes all right at VFL level but is finding it hard to beat off the Bulldog young guns of similar size in their midfield. Was one if their best in the recent game against the Scorpions.
  10. There was very little joy for the Casey players in polling on JJ Liston Night on Monday. Only two VFL listed players polled a total of two votes each. Max Gawn topped the voting:- 10 Max Gawn 7 Sam Blease 4 Jordie McKenzie 3 Neville Jetta 2 Jake Best Jack Fitzpatrick Aidan Reilly Tim Smith Jimmy Toumpas 1 James Strauss Not a single Casey player made the VFL team of the year.

  12. Coburg by 16 - 77 to 61. Looks like yet another disappointing end to a close game as has been the pattern for most of the year with Casey.
  13. Yep went early. Back soon.
  14. Half Time: Casey Scorpions 7.4.46 to Coburg 7.4.46
  15. Casey revival unbelievable. They now lead by 13 points after pouring on five in a row. (apologies but low on iphone batteries)
  16. Soft free kick against Terlich to Coburg restores the 2 goal deficit.
  17. JKH back on the ground but Tappy gone for the game (and probably the season and more).
  18. Quarter Time: Coburg 3.2.20 leads Casey 1.2.8.
  19. Scorps in a bit of disarray and gives up the lead to a Coburg goal.
  20. Coburg replies and scores level.
  21. JKH & Tappy both injured and the score is Casey 1.2.8 to Coburg 0.2.2. Goal to Best.
  22. One point apiece halfway through the first quarter which tells a lot about the standard of this game.
