  8. Essendon shafted them and ended the alignment two years ago which was the beginning of the end for a VFL club out of Bendigo.
  9. What a game and what a win! Ed Morris' two goals in the final quarter, the last a snap well into time on was a sign of great muturity. Skipper Panozza was also terrific for Casey. Feel a bit sorry for Bendigo who probably blew their last chance for a win in this competition. A few weeks ago they lost to Northern Blues by 5 points after having a goal kicked against them at the 31½ minute mark of the final quarter. 2014 Peter Jackson VFL Casey Scorpions 4.3.27 5.8.38 8.13.61 12.14.86 Bendigo Gold 3.5.23 6.6.42 10.9.69 12.12.84 Goals Casey Scorpions Barry 3 Blease Morris 2 Gawn Fitzpatrick Michie Strauss Bendigo Gold Downie Pollock Walls 2 Aarts Farrelly Magin Redfern Stroobants Toman Best Casey Scorpions Harmes Michie Morris Gawn Clisby Strauss Bendigo Gold Toman Magin Walls Hayes Redfern Downie
  10. Ed Morris goals at 30 minutes to put Casey up by 2 points. This kid is very, very good.
  11. Bendigo goal at 29 minutes - they're back in front.
  12. Dom Barry goal (his third) puts Casey in front.
  13. Goal to Ed Morris - five point game at 18 minutes - 10.13.73 to 11.12.78.
  14. A goal apiece so far in what you would call a lacklustre final term considering what's at stake. Bendigo have more passion and desire for the win even if they have no AFL listed players.
  15. Three quarter time and Casey staring down the barrel with Bendigo Gold about to score the first (and most likely last) win of its brief history. Bendigo leads by 8 points - 10.9.69 to 8.13.61.
  16. Michie responds and it's an 8 point game.
  17. Blease gets his second but Bendigo replies. Lead is 14 points in the shadows of ¾ time.
  18. Bendigo extends its lead to almost three goals over the lifeless Scorpions.
  19. Gold get the lead back with the next two and Maxy hits the post from 15 metres out. Ouch! Scorps down by 10 points and things are looking ominous halfway through the third.
  20. Big Jack Fitzpatrick marks and goals to kick start the Scorpions in the second half and give then the lead.
  21. The first thing he has to do is bite the bullet and make another application for draft assistance. If the rule allowing for this is on the books then forget the politics, we need to apply because its plain to see that after eight years, we qualify and we need to take advantage of every legally available means to help our recruiting people improve our list. Watching Casey struggle today against a team that has decided to fold at the end of the year merely reinforces my viewpoint that we are being held back by a poor list that lacks depth and strong measures need to be taken.
  22. Half Time and Bendigo Gold lead by 4 points 6.6.42 to 5.8.38. Sam Blease kicked a late goal, the only one for the quarter for the visitors. Just to provide some perspective, in the equivalent game at Casey Fields last year, the Scorpions led by 34 points at ½ time on the way to a 129 point win. And that was after they lost full forward Jesse Hogan to a knee injury early in the game.
  23. The insipid Casey Scorpions are 4.4.28 to Bendigo 6.5.41 at the 20 minute mark of the second.
  24. Another goal to Bendigo - their lead out to 8 points.
  25. Casey trail after Bendigo kicks the first goal of the second term.
