  1. I'm not sure if terry will go 1st. I think mark williams will be lucky to see the mid season break. I saw an interview with him and he has a clause written in that he must be informed 6mths before his contract is due to expire that the PA FC must advise him of their intentions for a new contract. This falls mid season. PA is in big financil trouble, there is a new board so I would suggest it is highly likely that mid season he will be told no to a new contract. That then leaves the club in a position of having a coach coaching that knows he will not be there next year. Unlikely. So prediction - Bye Bye to MW 1st and Terry will be given until the tigers are no longer a chance of making the finals.

  2. interesting that he has not been named in the squad at all for sunday. I wonder where he will be at in 7 days time. Wonna to come back in, watts maybe soon, maric, jetta looking good, petterd looking good, robbo getting closer? Whilst it isn't the best forward line on paper we are starting to have some real competition for place which can only be a good thing. I just wonder where CS fits into the bigger and long term picture?

  3. Great post... Particularly the bit in regards to Petterd. We need to see this young kid in action as much as possible, as soon as possible. I see him as one of the kids that will vie for our all-important core list for the next 6 or so years. Col has always been, and likely will always be in and out of that core. I like Col, but there has to come a time that we ignore the drafting number once the player has been recruited. Going on what he's shown so far (even with the OP extenuating circumstances) Petterd is more important. We may have snuck a couple more goals in the game, may have made a difference to the result... but we are in development phase, and I'm loving that DB isn't taking his eye off the ball, even for a minute.

With grimes & wonna not in, Petterd would have to be close to our most important "young" player for sunday. He or morton need to kick 3-4 if we are any chance.

Spencer in the ruck is going to be very interesting as well. Looking forward to watching all our 1st, 2nd + newish 3rd yr players!

  4. A journey of a thousand miles as they say....... but we are way past the first steps..and were gaining momentum.

I have the sneaking suspicion our numbers are more sustainable as well as say compared the Dogs and Roos

Isn't it, they are both struggling for members at the top of their game. What happens when some leaner times come. Nth is the biggest concern it seems like as a club they are going backwards even though they have been reasonable successful in the last few years. Lets hope they can rally like we have in the darker times coming

  5. 26,195 - Up she goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

edit: The way it is going I might have to soon re-evaluate my prediction of 31,484!

    30k by monday?

I wonder how many will sign up on Sunday. If we have a couple of early wins does any one think we're a chance for 35k?

  6. Where, oh where are the quality spinners that were spruiked that Australia would produce on the back of Shane Warne's brilliance...............we want more "freaks with tweak!!"

I think mcgain needs more then 1 innings. A good wrist spinner is worth a lot more in england then on flat tracks in S.A.. Warne went for 0/100+ in his first test (not for 9 an over though). If Hauritz gets a game ahead of a straight pace attack or mcgain I may boycot the tour. I'm sure I have the selectors shacking in their boots!

  7. ess with 8 games, with their fan base this is a real supprise for me. Even though they have an average side I still would have thought they would have been up in the top 3? Good stuff 8 less essendon games I have to watch!

  8. Most seem to have pettard on the bench. After his 1st half v doggies he will start in the forward line if his hip comes up. Sylvia or Wonna(inj?) to miss in the forward line to allow jetta to debut.

  9. I for one like foxtel showing the games. Simply if it wasn't there we would not see 1/2 as many MFC games on free to air.

Being that we are the highest ranking vic side I think it tells the tail of our ratings values for prime time ATM.

  10. Totally agree with you Jaded.

Well done by Cameron Schwab & Co. Although just in time is great to have 2 solid three year sponsorships which are unlikely to become stressed in next couple of years AND both have products we all need so we can suppport them directly!!!

Look forward to the MFC building on this foundation during that time!

    Now...... onto the footy!

I wonder if PM has anything to say now? or any proof of the "potential" sponser(s) he had lined up. Well done to the current admin/board!

  11. We played round (4) last year in the game that was moved from the Gold Coast.

It was the Kangaroos "let's show the AFL why we're staying in Melbourne and get along to the game" game.

    23,000?

Thats right and our form was setting the competition alight rd1-3 last year! Nth is the problem we will be lucky if 5-10k of their fans turn up. I can't understand why they are staying in vic with no supporter base. What will happen if/when they have a couple of bad years. 1st game of the year, like I said if we have less then 25-30k MFC fans turn up

  12. 45k will be a stretch for a Sunday 1pm game.

Hoping for more, but with our position and prospects for this year...

Not getting to 45k isn't failing.

rnd 1, 2 vic sides playing. We have 25k members + MCC + General tickets + Roos fans should be well above 40k. Not rnd 18 after a poor year for either club.

I suspect MFC will have 25-30k there, it will be the roo boys that let us down if we are well under 40k.

  13. Here's how I make the mix:- revised

    ....B: BRUCE, MARTIN, RIVERS

    ..HB: BUCKLEY, WARNOCK, GARLAND

    ....C: DAVEY, MCLEAN, MORTON

    ...HF: GREEN, MILLER, BATE

    .....F: PETTERD, NEWTON, WONAEAMIRRI,

    FOLL: JOHNSON, MCDONALD, JONES

    ...IC: SPENCER, MOLONEY, DUNN, CHENEY,

EMERG: = FRAWLEY, SYLVIA, JETTA, BARTRAM

Just about on the mark i would suspect. I would have frawley ahead slightly on cheney. Wona unlikely to play IMO so sylvia or jetta to come in there otherwise pretty close to a run on side at this stage

  14. I did a short film documentary last year on 5 football fans and Angelo was one of them, he's an absolutely top bloke and really friendly to talk to. But most of all he bleeds red and blue, and he wears his mohawk for home games at the G, i don't think he wears it for away games.

Did I also read some where that he does a bit of work for under privlidged kids, takes them to the footy etc.

  15. I just HOPE SO MUCH we can win Round 1...Round 2 against the Pies is an away game but we could make some good coin on that day.. Round 1 win Round 1 win..............

Right on the money there, but I hope we and nth for that matter turn up in our 1000's. A crowd of under 45k will be a failure in my eyes for rd 1 weather permitting. Any chance of 25k by the start of next week?

  16. I agree that McGain should play, particularly with injury clouds over a couple of our quicks.

I also think that Hilfenhaus could be a major weapon in England, as I've said a few times.

Btw, does Siddle remind anyone else of McDermott?

Nth in doubt with a gastric bug, Mcgain has to play.

If the selectors get this wrong we are going into the ashes with no spinner with any recent test practice which IMO is madness

  17. So all is good now, i am pretty sure i didnt use much club resources other than the department that is set out to look after member complaints and issues, which does happen in business. The solution that she proposed was great and im now a happy customer/member.

If i bit my finger nails and didnt say boo like demonic said i would of not received anything.

    :) END OF RANT :)

We had an issue like this a few years ago where by a few days before rd 1 we were yet to have the correct cards etc. No worries we met somebody at the members tent who took us through the gates and to our seats. early the following week the memberships arrived. They did everything for us that year to make sure we were in the correct seats for rd 1 cards or no cards. Good to see that they are still ensuring the members are looked after.

Plus a free hat with Davey's sig on it was a welcome supprise!
