  1. What's the Nth Gnd Reserve??? As in Olympic Stand lvl 1?

I have an N49 Reserved seat for home games, Level 2 Olympic stand. Best spot to sit.

"M" is what I have had as ground, for some reason i thought the stands were like this grnd, lvl 1, lvl 2 etc maybe its the sthn stand or TD i am confused. but Premium membership i think is section N - Pres Club, Captains club etc. What I am proposing is the seats below these at grnd level to have 1st come seating for members on small forcast crowds like sunday! Would love to sit in the pres or captains club, but enjoy it too much being a bit closer.

  2. The reason I have barracked for Melbourne for my 39 yrs is due to my mother being a once die-hard Melbourne supporter. I used to go every week with her up until I was 21 or so. After the way Ridley was treated and the fact that Gutnick actually became president her passion began to wane. The sacking mid season of Balme was the last straw and she has never supported the Dees since.

She still loves her footy and watches all games on tv that she can but no longer has anymore passion for Melbourne than many other teams. She's a very stubborn person and I believe her decision is irreversible.

Get in contact with the club and the membership department on the website, you never know they might be able to get a special call made ala the debt demolition calls by players. Failing that I like the mothers day idea! just make sure she is given red and blue flowers!

  3. Dont worry 'montasaurus' this is a small sample. Anyway a near 90% shows a geart amout of intrest. Its a pity that it was not in place for this week, a 4pm sunday game for MFC supporters is generally not well recieved, and I guess around 20,000 is all that will attend.

might take a pic or 2 on sunday to prove my point as well in an area that would be/should be "sold out" on the books. Anyone else with similar areas should do the same and the next week submit this post to the MFC and see what they think.

  4. my first memories of the MCG were in the red seats...good family atmoshphere.

are these the ones that were close to the punt road end goals on the northern side?

spot on, re family area thats has an unbelievable atmospher this was the driving factor for the suggestion being that for small games we struggle to have any atmospher at all (ignore freo and Bris wins last year)

  5. I don't think the wet weather terminology exists for the Demons (about the game being more even)I personally think that the Demons play better in dry weather, because from memory 3 games last year when it was raining during/before the game we got beaten badly.

Melbourne V Richmond Round 22 lost by 80

Melbourne V Geelong Round 19 lost by 116

Melbourne V Western Bulldogs Round 2 lost by 95

Great Post, I have always been one that believes that the wet shows the classy players skills even more. Trav is one that comes to mind playing in terrible conditions in rd 1 or 2 he dominated for bris, 1 hand pickups, silky finishing etc etc etc. Poor skills generally get worse when it is wet. Where i believe we have an advantage over adelaide is the big 22. He will smash em on water sodden ground look out for beamer!

  6. Certainly North would want him if he came onto the market, but I don't think they're that close to a premiership. Assuming Pavlich chooses a club that he feels is a chance to get a flag, he'd be more likely to look at the Dogs or Adelaide I reckon. But he'd fit into North's side well.

You can bet your bottom dollar every side would be interested in him. he is in the top five players in the AFL and IMHO top 2 forwards (j brown) is the only guy I would currently chase before pav. Therefore minus those that have salery issues (carlt$n) every other club except bris/stk/Haw due to current forward setups would be interested in his services. He will be as hot an item as juddy was if he decideds to put himself on the market.

  7. Would you Support Nth Gnd Reserve to be open for all members on small games

    yes [ 30 ] ** [88.24%]

    no [ 4 ] ** [11.76%]

I would be very interested to hear the thoughts for the 11.76% for not being in support of this. I actually expected far closer to 95-100% support for something like this?

  8. I've enjoyed all our games this year, just seeing these young blokes show their potential

One of the best games I enjoyed last year was getting soaked watching us get pumped by geelong under lights. Not only did they teach us a lesson that night but I really believe that this was the game that our backline came of age. 100pt thrasing yet I had our backline up on points. Makes wins from here just that more enjoyable. Maybe I'm a little sick?

  9. I've got reserved seating on level 1 olympic/northern stand, the alcohol free zone is news to me, was having a beer there the other day.

my reserved seat on gnd level is definately a dry zone as is the whole section. It has been this way from the day the stand opened? unless there was a slack staff member at the top of the stairs?

I wonder if were getting confused about grnd & lvl 1. I'm sure lvl 1 in the nthern stand is for captains club etc and is on the 1st tier of the stand not ground level?

  10. I don't think so. What I mean is that Pavlich or no Pavlich, it will still take us a couple more years for our kids to Learn, go through the situations that we all must go through to actually learn what To Do & what Not to do, in order to win big games.

It's would be like putting a suped up new motor in a 1992 car that hasn't had any maintenance &/or repairs, just pointless.

But if you were committed to a restoration that would be different, & very time consuming.

It's a lot quicker to buy all the parts New & fit or have them fitted within a short time frame, so they can wear together at the same rate.

Same could have been argued with carlton and ju$$. At this point you would have to say ViSy FC made the right choice?

  11. In the end you cannot please all the people all the time, however, let’s try something that may appeal to most people. It’s worth a shot. It may no suit everyone every week, just as I can’t go every week (Unless we played at a sensible time like say, maybe, I know SATURDAY AFTERNOONS!)

Careful OGD, your making too much sense for this site!

  12. I ahve a reserved seat in the southern satnd, I'd rather be in the northern stand, but thats a alcohol free zone and 2 of the 4 of us like to have a beer or two at the game, so we stay over that other side, so we have 2 reserved seating areas as well which thins the numbers more.

Thats the only issue with these seats, but trust me you get used to chuggin them down at 1/4 and 1/2 time. But there would be nothing stopping the same approach for the seats in the sth stand for those who enjoy an ale while the games on.

  13. Great post, for years I have been compaining about the Voice of MFC supporters, and on certain games, you can not hear us compared to other clubs. It was fantastic to see Jimmy behind the goals on Suday and take "That Mark". I would leave the MCC area in a heartbeat to sit with ALL Demon faithful, including Jimmy!

I was only 20 rows back and it was sundays game that really got me thinking. the last time I enjoyed a game (be it a terrible game) as much as this would have been against the doggies at TD when brown broke his leg. That day the club had a members area and same as sunday it was a terrible standard game but again one of the best atmospheres to sit in. If enough votes are cast and its in favour of the section i think this post will need to be passed onto the club.

Could also be a dress code of red or blue on or no entry as well!

  14. This always irks me, why is the top level open for games against interstate sides?

Surely if it was closed, we'd need less patrons to start making a profit, and the crowd would become more intimate (look more sizeable).

    Win-win I'd have thought

45 this is one of my biggest gripes as well.

Another is that I have had real bug for the last 10yrs or so about a few of our "band-wangon type" members that purchase reserved seat memberships yet are never there when we are not going as well apart from the big games. I have always had a reserved seat for home games ever since the "red seats" were removed.

One of the 2 biggest reasons for having this ticket is the atmosphere. The other is to not sit with the opporsition filth - refer Mr Jones! Unfortunately the first reason has overtime deteriated really badly to the stage where I can remember up to 6 games in the last 2 seasons where there were lucky to be 50 people in our bay for a home game.

Therefore I would propose for the smaller drawing crowds to open the bottom level of the nth stand to MFC members (and MCC if they wished) to sit in a "fanatics area". This would use approx 5-10k of seating more effectively thus opening more space in the sth stand for general on the bottom as well. This could well facilitate a closure of the top sections and have a real members wing once again plus a real home ground advantge by concerntrating our supporters. Target 2010! bring us together and make some noise. One of my fondest memmorys was having diamond joe come down and sit with us in a last quater win after getting soaked for the 1st 3 but still sitting with plenty of red/blue around us!

I would have no issue paying the same price for my current Nth stand ground reserve seat and only have a reserve for say the big 6 (Coll, Ess, Carl, Rich, Haw) and any other game as a 1st come for the seating in a members stronghold.

There can be no issue with seating allocation (premium etc) as many times for away games some of these same seats can be general admission anyway.

  15. Poor Pavlich.

I hope that CS, CC and DB have all been in contact with the great man to make sure that he is ok and if he needs any support from the MFC he just needs to call. If we were to finishing with a priority pick this year I would have no issues giving up our 2nd pick for the PAV. All of a sudden our "disfunctional" forwardline would be amazing. I really think we could be in with a shot on a player like pav this year, unless QC17 beat us to it. It would be interesting if anyone in the media is aware of his relationship with harvey vs CC+CS?

  16. spoke to him at the after match, he was in his tracksuit not a suit, we would be mad not to have an emergency on game day, wouldn't risk losing all of them to injury playiing VFL the day before, Newton was last week in Adelaide.....he didn't play for Casey and stay behind

Understand that when playing interstate you must take an emergency with you, but for a local game this seems a little strange. Cheeny has been a gem thus far so i can't understand why one would risk putting him out of form by not playing. Unless it was a way of managing a young player by scheduling a weeks rest? General soreness/flu etc? I can't remember many if there have been times that emergencies did not play in either side for a local game unless there was an issue.

  17. I can't remember if it was in the 3rd or 4th quarter, but Moloney laid an absolute bone crunching tackle on some poor Richmond player, he almost tore him apart. Fantastic tackle it was too, aggressive painful and didn't give away the free-kick.

If that was me, i wouldn't have got up for a month, or possibly have died of a heart attack. Go Beamer you good thing!!!

If its the one I'm thinking of, it was a discrace he did not win a free kick for incorrect disposal. What ever happened to that rule? Prior opportunity and then a crunching tackle that forced the ball free. Dunn also dumped one of the young tiogs in our forwardline with a heavy one as well. Once upon a time the only one that could tackle in our side was wheels.
