Japan Nuclear MeltDown?
Truth About Fukushima Radiation Emerges The Japanese news source Asahi Shimbun (AS) reports that a senior official working for Build-Up, a subcontractor hired during the Fukushima clean-up efforts, has admitted to instructing his workers to wear lead coverings over their dosimeters in order to shield accurate radiation readings. Dosimeters measure an individual's exposure to radiation, and indicate when it is no longer safe to be in the presence of a radiation source. Recordings uncovered from a December 2 conversation between the official and his employees reveals that he coaxed them to use the lead coverings by claiming that he had used them many times before without issue. He also apparently told them that they would have to use them in future clean-up efforts as well, and implied that they should get used to using them now. According to AS, the senior official also came up with an alibi that the workers could use to explain the coverings, should anyone inquire about the unusual presence of tape on their torn radiation protection suits. All the bases were covered, in other words, which was enough to convince four of the workers to go along with the plan.

I heard this song on the radio this morning. Great tune. At the time I thought it was Nick Cave. Jack Jack 4.3 And I think I heard that the band Ween are now pushing up daisies (the band's called it quits). Bit of a bummer, but I guess they have been going around for 20 odd years. Jack Jack 4.4

I came across an interesting today, a leaked UCI list of riders suspected of doping from the 2010 tour. Would've preferred to see him ranked at 0. Tour de France live stream on sbs.com.au from 7.30 pm

Yep, the Mavs have done well so far, and I don't think they're finished. Brooklyn has re-signed Humphries to a 2 year $24 million contract. They must be over the luxury tax threshold already? This season they've got Williams (about $18 mill) Johnson (about $20 mill) Wallace (about $10 mill) Humphries (about $12 mill) and Lopez (about $14 mill) as their starters. Then they recruited CJ Watson, Teletovic, Reggie Evans plus whoever was already under contract (Marshon Brooks). They'll be in the top 5 for payroll in the first season at Brooklyn. They'd want to do well. Knicks have already lost Landry Fields to the Raptors (I think it was around $20 million over 3 years), and now possible Linsanity to Houston. He was offered $25 million over 3 years, $5 million per year over the first 2 years and then the poison pill $15 million third year. Pretty good coin for someone who's only started around 20-25 games. Knicks have got another day (?) to decide whether they are going to match the offer and retain Lin.

Pretty sad really. Frank's brother Andy has only recently been awarded the 2010 win after Contador's ban. Puts a question mark over that now.

Wow, first tacks were thrown over the road, then last night there was oil thrown over the road. What next?

An unlucky stage for Cadel last night, copped 3 punctures from tacks being thrown on the road. Good sportsmanship shown with the peloton slowing down to wait for him.

Nice work on the stage updates Macca.

Pantaloons would be beside himself if that happened. Between Kobe, Dwight & Gasol they'd be right up to the limit for the luxury tax, but if you've got an owner willing to spend I guess it's no obstacle. Interesting article on Linsanity, Knicks and the same problem, luxury tax. Lin's Future Cloudy

Not looking good for the Aussies. Cadel still miles behind Wiggins (and Froome & Nibali) and last night Sagan extended his lead over Goss in the green jersey. Do we have anyone left in contention? I think all we can hope for now is a stage win by Goss and Green Edge.

He was hit with a sprint infringement going for 6th against Sagan. They deemed that he deviated from his line and was hit with a 30 point penalty (Last night they said he'd be sent to the back). High drama as Matt Goss's green jersey dreams shattered after 12th stage Wiggins was hit with a flare with 25 k's to go. I don't remember seeing that but maybe my voodoo doll worked (a little bit anyway, needs more pins).

Great stuff Macca. I'm a big White Stripes fan, was a bit disappointed that they called it quits. I should post some of their songs. For now some more Aussie music, Josh Pyke. Jack Jack 4.2

it's a bit disappointing that Matt Goss got relegated to the back of the field. It's cost him a huge margin in the green jersey competition. The commentators seemed a bit surprised by the decision. Can he appeal? Has he?

Yeah is certainly makes sense for Houston to clear their books. They need a marquee player. But they'd be taking a huge risk trading for Howard as there'd be no guarantee he'd sign an extension. The Dwightmare continues. The Mavericks claim Elton Brand off amnesty waivers. Traded in Darren Collison from Indiana and may make a play for Scola off amnesty waivers. I think they're doing pretty well after moving on from missing out on Deron Williams. I think I read somewhere that the Timberwolves had amnestied Darko Milicic. Still a lot happening.

Thanks guys. I don't think Cadel has had a great season so far. Maybe he's just out of form? Should we harness the power of Friday the 13th?

Pretty disappointing. I fell asleep on the second climb and woke up during the finish with the commentators saying Cadel had lost another minute. Was it a good thing that I missed the action? - CYCLING
