It's certainly going to make things very interesting for the rest of the tour. Nibali is going to have to watch Cancellara, Porte, Valverede and Contador, I imagine they'll be on the attack to make up time. Can he hold them off? Go Porte!

He was a bit nuts. Did he really think he could stay out front the whole race? The Froome crash could make things interesting. Particularly considering the next stage is the Roubaix lite. He could find it difficult over the cobble stones with his injured hand, and his competition I would expect to attack, to really test it out.

Wow, England has been terrific. These early stages have been a little more exciting than usual thanks to a few undulations. The crowds have been nuts. The British are obviously either starved of entertainment or really love their cycling.

England has gone Tour crazy. The crowds have got on the bandwagon that's for sure. I missed the first half of the race yesterday, so I didn't realise that Gerrans had crashed again. If it wasn't for bad luck, he wouldn't have any luck at all. Mark Cavendish ruled out of Tour I guess it's no surprise that Cavendish is out. But it's interesting that team OGE were a little disappointed that the UCI didn't do anything about it. The heat was on in the final few miles. Was a great race in the end, Nibali taking his opportunities. I was surprised that Sagan didn't go a bit harder for the finish line (finished 4th?). Maybe he was knackered after the race to the finish, or he was happy he'd done enough to get the green.

Yeah, disappointed for Gerrans and Cavendish. Doesn't look good for Cav's tour with a dislocated collar bone. Was still a spectacular finish. The crowds were nuts. I couldn't believe what I was seeing!

Yep. the SBS website is pretty good for viewing Le Tour. It live tracks the profile, leaderboard etc. SBS Tour Tracker Don't forget about Sagan Cards, he must be favourite for the green.

Doh! I was looking forward to seeing Quintana. And another positive drugs test in cycling? I can't believe after all this it's still happening.

Yes, a lot of it we already knew. But the extent of Armstrong's intimidation and influence was quite disturbing. And did he ever legitimately win a race without some sort of cheating? A real shame the damage he's done to the sport. Don't forget Quintana. Was a real revelation last year and is coming off a win in the Giro.

I've heard this song a few times on the radio lately. Catchy tune. Jack Jack 5.9

I've heard this song a few times on Triple J recently. Took me a while to track down the artist and song, it's one of the Unearthed artists. I don't think she's released an album yet, just a couple of singles. I can't get enough of it. Jack Jack 5.8

Nice one Macca. The vocals sound a lot like James Hetfield. I heard a song in the movie Crash a few years ago and thought it was by Dave Gray. I kept wondering why I couldn't find that song on any of his albums, took me a while to figure out it wasn't him at all. Great song (and a great movie too). Jack Jack 5.7

I saw Dan Sultan live again last weekend. He's quite an incredible talent. Well worth the effort to see him live if anyone get's the chance. He's just released a new song. Jack Jack 5.6 This is the version of Old Fitzroy he's doing on his current tour. It doesn't really do him justice, but still worth a listen.

Pacer's could be dangerous for Miami this season. They weren't far off last season and will have Granger returning and have added Scola to the roster. Bulls, OKC, Clips, Spurs and GSW should all be up there this season. I'm still not convinced that the Knicks are a legitimate contenders, they'll be up there but I just don't see how they can go deep into the finals series. Houston and Brooklyn look good on paper, but it remains to be seen how well the teams will perform. Cavs should see some improvement along with the Timberwolves (if they can stay healthy. Rubio will improve the team now that he's back on the court) I hope to see the Pistons take a few steps forward this season. Josh Smith will make a difference and Drummond and Munroe will only get better. Hopefully Jennings can sure up the guard position. On paper they should be looking at a final berth, although I suspect they'd just be making up the numbers.

I haven't really been following the NBA too closely so far (it's early days). Brett Brown, ex Boomers and NBL coach, seems to be doing well with the 76ers so far. Dellavedova had a few good preseason games, but has yet to really get any game time so far. Patty Mills has been seeing some regular minutes, nice to see. And if you didn't know already, Andrew Bogut has signed a 3 year extension with GSW. I expect to see GSW taking another step further in the playoffs this season.

Australians can rejoice. Our own Matt Dellavedova has signed a 2 year contract, partially guaranteed, with the Cavaliers. I think the Cavs could be in for a climb up the standings, so I hope he can stick with them. After being bought out by the Suns (after being busted with possession of marijuana), Michael Beasley finds himself back at Miami with a non-guaranteed contract. As we all know high draft picks don't necessarily translate into great players, but he was originally draft at 2 by the Heat 4 or 5 odd years ago. He certainly has the skills but has been let down by his own lack of discipline and off field transgressions. Could be another boom or bust recruit for the Heat, along with their signing of former number 1 pick Greg Oden.

Looks like a great finish to the stage. I haven't seen a lot of the tour so far, but managed to see the end of Stage 18. I must admit that, apart from being an incredible finish (Kiryienka holding on from a fairly early breakaway was quite a feat, and our own Adam Hansen coming in 3rd), seeing Chris Horner take time on Nibali, Velverde et al was a bit of a surprise, particularly considering his age. Will be interesting to see what happens tonight.

As always the player movements have been frenetic in the off season. A full wrap up of the team changes so far can be found here. The big news being that the Dwightmare has ended and Howard has moved on from the Lakers and signed with Houston. His pairing with Harden should make them an interesting team to watch in the coming seasons. The Nets continue to throw around money at an absurd rate, picking up Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Jason Terry and AK47. As a consequence their luxury tax bill (about $87 million) will be larger than every other teams normal payroll. They'd want to see some bang for their buck! The Knicks have also added some pieces, they've stacked their front court by adding Andrea Bargnani and Metta World Peace. But with a back court of Felton and JR Smith, I'm not convinced they've improved in the right areas. The Clippers roster hasn't changed much, but they've trade in Doc Rivers as coach which could make all the difference to them. Bogut, after his name was mentioned in trade rumours, should be happy with the Warriors pick up of Igoudala, even if it's at the expense of losing Jarrett Jack. And my team, the Pistons, seem to have done well by picking up Brandon Jennings and Josh Smith. Most of the big names have been accounted for so far, with the one of the few remaining questions being where will Greg Oden (former No. 1 pick by Portland) land? An interesting season coming up.
