Well the news is we've got another Aussie in the NBA. After finally being released by his Chinese team, Patty Mills rights were then renounced by the Blazers, leaving him as a free agent. He's just signed up with the San Antonio Spurs, who are currently running 2nd in the western conference. It will be interesting to see how much game time he'll get.

My vote would have to go to Whateley too. I believe he was close to leaving the ABC at the end of last year. It will be a sad day if he does ever leave. Can't stand listening to the commercial stations.

I've just stumbled on the soundtrack to the movie Lialeh. It's by the legendary session drummer Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. From what I understand it's probably his first true solo album. The movie Lialeh was apparently described as the first black porn movie. And, believe what you will, I've never seen the movie and didn't discover the album by watching it. Jack Jack's Jazz 2.0

I'm surprised to see that there's no NBA thread. Admittedly there's a pretty poor showing from the Australian contingent at the moment and it's been getting worse over the last few years. Andrew Bogut (I think he was in All Star form a few years back until that cheap nudge from Stoudemire caused him horrific injuries. Sadly he hasn't been himself since) is our only Aussie in the league and he's currently out injured. Last year we had Patty Mills in PTown and the year before there was David Anderson and Nathan Jawai. So beyond following any team that's got an Aussie listed player I find myself having a soft spot for the Detroit Pistons, and, to a lesser extent, the New jersey Nets. Greg Monroe and Brandon Knight look like some good young players that'll take them places in a few years time. Can the Nets hold on to DWill and possibly snare Dwight Howard? The trade deadline isn't far off now so it'll be interesting to see if any big deals go through. Beyond Miami, Chicago and OKC I can't really see anyone else challenging for the title this year. And now that Linsanity has started to die down, what'll become of the Knicks? Not that I'm a big fan of theirs but with so many big names in the team I think they should be doing better. Thoughts?

How good was Live's Throwing Copper. The Dam On Otter Creek is an amazing song. They convey a real drama and tension. Phenomenal stuff. They remind me of another band 90's band that started well and then slowly petered out, the Gin Blossoms. There's a sad story behind the guy that wrote this song. I actually thought I'd posted this song before. Have I? I'm starting to lose track. Jack Jack 3.4

How good are Radiohead? Karma Police is one of the few songs I can still remember how to play on guitar. Awesome tune. I've got a friend in Japan with a Led Zeppelin cover band, Duesenberg. I can't say that I've ever heard them live but their original on youtube ain't too bad. Jack Jack 3.2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztQJr4_nsg8&feature=related And here's a few from the 60's inspired The Brian Jonestown Massacre. I'd say they're a fairly underrated group. Probably best known for their association with The Dandy Warhols and the documentary Dig!. The doco was less than complementary to the band, but it's still worth a watch. Jack Jack 3.3

I've posted a Stone Temple Pilots video before, but what can I say, they're fricken awesome. I've recently been trying to get out of the habit of being a fat bastard and STP have got me through a few tough sessions. The first song is from their album Tiny Music. It's probably a fairly underrated album, mainly due to Scott Weiland's drug issues at the time which restricted them from being able to properly promote/tour the album. This song was also the encore to their Melbourne concert last year. The second song is from their Purple album. The album is probably best know for the song Interstate Love Song. Edit: I can't embed the official clips. So there's a link to them instead. Jack Jack 3.1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=khg8wKbgvEY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9COeT1Usow Apologies in advance, I can't promise that I won't post more STP.

Nice one Macca. I'm glad you thought of this thread. Every now I then I enjoy revisiting the songs posted so far. I've started listing to some Marc Moulin. Here's a couple from the album/group Placebo Jack Jack's Jazz 1.9 (This first song reminds me a little of Spiderbait's Monty) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0WOIFP4OF8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ww-In-C19P4

I was listening to Led Zeppelin II last night whilst on a bit of a road trip. I'd forgotten how good that album was. Bring It On Home was the perfect song to end the album. Love it. Jack Jack 3.0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EEq0kmmw3E

Sorry, it doesn't really have a video, but it's a great song. From Gaham Nash's Songs for Beginners. Jack Jack 2.9

Nice one Franky. Let's put that one down as quasi jazz. I've not listened to a lot of CSN but I have Graham Nash's Songs for Beginners. It's got some great guest appearances, David Crosby, Jerry Garcia and Neil Young to name a few. Military Madness is right up there as one of my favourite songs. I may have to post it on Macca's thread.

Oh yes, love a bit of Audioslave (their first two albums anyway, the third was only so so). I was so bummed out when they broke up.

Here's one from Herbie Hancock. I've only just started listening to a few of his tunes on Youtube, but I think I may have to get my hands on one or two of his albums. This is part 2 of the song Chameleon. Part 1 is a pretty cool rambling funk song. Part 2 is a bit more up tempo. Gotta love the funk. Jack Jack's Jazz 1.7

Stay strong Macca. Keep fighting the good fight. Can't say I've ever been a huge Stones fan. Having said that Gimme Shelter is up there as one of the all time great songs. Brilliant video.

I was just doing a bit of channel surfing and noticed a gem on ABC2. Arrested Development. THE..... GREATEST..... SHOW..... EVER! If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favour. I think there's a movie due out this year? And a doco to boot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9TXVMkQ29g Also I'm part way through the doco Thin Blue Line on ABC iView. Looks like a good real life murder mystery.

I was lucky enough to see Roger Waters The Wall in concert over the weekend. And wow, what a show it was. I think it really was a golden age of music, the likes of which I don't think we'll ever see again. In our current iTunes climate we are seeing a the demise of albums, so it is hard to imagine someone producing an album so memorable, let alone a concept double album such as The Wall. For anyone that went, or is interested, here's an article on how much work went into the concert and some of the technology and attention to detail went into the show. I know I've posted a Pink Floyd song previously, but I post this as a mark of respect to such a memorable, moving and breathtaking show. From the original movie The Wall.
