I've been doing a lot of that lately too. Must be something in the water.
I still can't believe that we're 4 years into a rebuild. I think it's becoming more evident that we need more than high draft picks with potential. We need a culture change. A winning culture, win at all costs, a thirst for the contest, some passion!
For me Strauss and Blease had put a big question mark over Prendergast until this season. Strauss showed a great deal this season until his leg gave way. And it's easy to see how good Blease could be now that he's been introduced to AFL level.
The AFL is only concerned with growing their brand. The only reason they're concerned about "intergrity" over betting issues is to protect their betting sponsorship money.
It's my understanding that the AFL is hesitant for the CBA to be challenged as it may make it invalid and all hell will break lose. Is it the same with the GWS rules?
It does seem quite incredible that a number 1 pick wasn't even signed up to a 3 year deal. But that's hindsight for you.
If he does go then I believe that unless a deal too good to refuse comes our way, we're better off holding off using the picks until at least next year. In a deaper draft without anymore draft conessions for GWS they should hold some value. And who knows, a decent year next year with a good new coach, maybe we will have players start to look in our direction.
I hope we finally pull our finger out and support the Scorpions through the finals this year. After a disapointing season AFL wise it would ease the pain somewhat to at least have a dig at some success in the VFL.
I'm pretty sure he's changed managers since making the decision last year not to look at contracts until the season is over. Still with the same management team, but a different manager.
I think he'll stay.
What's the chance that Scully has no intention of leaving, but that his management has orcehstrated all this as a way of getting a better deal out of the Dees?
Quite a lot of articles these days seem to be opinions in the guise factual reporting.
I've heard a few people mention the term "presstitutes" of late, seems more and more appropriate.
