try the radio options on the AFL site. Some are not much of a delay at all.

Whatever one's view of our current failings or potential, 'many decades' of the past is not relevant since so many things have changed. The only thing that is constant over those decades are the supporters, some of whom will never recover from MFCSS.

I sometimes wonder when these articles appear if the clubs have pressure from the marketing gurus in the AFL (and maybe the club itself) to keep feeding the media. I can't see any reason why a player or a club would do so otherwise. I cannot see how it helps the player improve nor makes the supporters feel better. Even the most casual supporter will see that he is playing poorly and only an idiot would think that the coach and the player don't know it and are not trying to fix it without being told in this article. Publishing this trash doesn't help fix it - just sets the player up for more unwelcome attention.

seems a bit weak given he was found guilty of intentionally striking, not careless striking.
-
Ridiculous. And not even the weak excuse that the ball was in play in one case and not the other case. But not unusual - umps hardly ever pay a free for a push in the back after the ball goes over the line, even though the player is pushed towards the fence. You have to hit the fence hard to get a free. AFL umpiring is a disgrace.

I'm barracking for Essendrug. I'm feeling unclean. Will need therapy.

Easy to say, but do you not think that the C'wood players were not "burning up" to put the boot into us again and cement themselves into the 8. We can't rely on these sort of revenge motivations to win games over other motivations. While there are clear cases when the performance suggests motivation was lacking, I don't think that match was such a case.

Sounds more like they are all responsible, including Gawn.

While on the face of it, it does seem over-the-top for players to be rubbed out for 'minor inconsequential umpire touching', I don't think it's simple where to draw the line. At what point DC do you think it should become more than a fine? Eg, apparently the AFL now (suddenly) considers showing the umpire how someone was pushed is a fine (and will change the rules at year's end, while not enforcing it now). But presumably showing the umpire how someone had their head pulled off and spun to the ground is still a suspension. So the AFL/Tribunal will as usual have to make decisions on each case. If only they could do it without many of us being suspicious as to the motivations for their inconsistencies, particularly wiht 'stars'. If they keep on their current course I'll need therapy to overcome my growing cynicism.

No one is surprised.

I can't wait for a player to demonstrate to an umpire how he had been pulled around the neck and deserved a free. Will they get a fine?

ha ha ha ha

Yes - what rock have you been sleeping under? And I'm not just referring to their playing fast and loose with personal data in pursuit of the $.

Could be because the average MFC supporter is smart enough to avoid the evil that is Facebook. At least I'd hope so.

Not sure which is worse, the Dogs or the Umpires.

Paul Roos on the Demonland Podcast Tonight (13/6)
sue replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Interesting his remarks about TMac on the wing. Said he understood it, but thought it's best to play players in their best position. Said oppo coaches would be rubbing their hands with glee when he starts on the wing. I don't understand it. What is the aim of starting TMac on the wing? -
After a disappoint loss I avoid this thread for a few days because of the inevitable overreaction and wrist slitting that usually occurs. So I haven't found out what happened to Oscar and when. Appreciate it if someone will let me know. (All I know is that at some stage latish in the game the TV people said he was off with concussion but they never followed it up or showed the incident - too busy having orgasms over C'wood I guess.)

Everyone know that in order to stab someone in the back you first have to get behind them.

And you might have to replace Pert with Melbourne in the URL that comes up when you click on the Perth match https://7plus.com.au/live-tv . They seem to have screwed something up.

If you can install a geolocation add-on to your browser and manually set it to say you are in Vic then you should be OK.
-
Sure, unusual venue so not surprising that can't justify installing enough cameras. But at normal grounds the frustrating thing to me is the choice of shot, not lack of cameras.
-
Don't need more cameras, just a director who doesn't think the following are good ideas: close-ups of a player running with the ball with no idea of what's around or ahead of him. lingering shots of the player who just missed a goal rather than showing how the teams are setting up for the kick in the ball going in and out of the field of view because they have zoomed in far too far so that the viewer has no idea what's happening. But by jingo, it is exciting that way as it is so unpredictable. (not)

When you have god on your side, it is natural to assume that an umpire who awards a free against you is a pawn of Satan. As for his dive last night, I think it was there, just not as blatant as last week. Though why dives are considered fine-worthy but head ducking (which is dangerous) is not, is beyond my comprehension.
-
I guess you can have more disposals than possessions if you kick it off the ground and a kick however got is counted as a disposal.

The bolded bit is important. As PJ is stating there are plenty of other considerations that go into the draw and so taking the obvious option of alternate turns may be too simplistic. If we move to alternate turns hopefully the Club will benefit elsewhere (and C'Wood suffer elsewhere).
