Would take a flag kicking 2 goals in a heartbeat, my concern with Lyon is that he has a fantastic list but yet to win a flag. I just dont want see us getting to finals & losing GF, been there.

Great Team Saints,more early draft picks than an other team & only able to kick 8 goals, great desperation but you dont win flags kicking 8 goals! I have seen many desperate teams of Melb playing finals with Daniher,Balme & Northey. The great Norm Smith said you play to win flags!! All of the above coaches incl Lyon have come second, history only remembers winners!

I guess these guys will come under fire for leaving the club thinking the grass was greener.Both of them would have had more games if they stayed at Melb.

Get over it will you! Scully could/will be a good player but the MFC is damned if they do damned if they dont! Pay way over the odds for a 20yo yet to establish himself & [censored] off the rest of the playing group who are willing to play for a lot less! Let him go & the MFC are branded as weak & not capable of retaining players Why has Trengove extended his contract? if anything has played a lot better etc. Remember the team is bigger than the individual! I cant believe this guy saying that it was Wards decision to go to GWS & the AFL was not to blame! How this guy can defend the process were the draft is there to assist teams rebuilding their lists, then create a situation only to see these early picks leave the club after 2-3 yrs and get paid incomes equal to elite status players who have proven track records. Understanding that we dont want expansion teams to be a uncompetitive, but hey go ask Melb 1964, Bulldogs 1954, Saints 1966,Rich 1980 thats 1 flag in 30yrs between 4 clubs We all know who the AFL would rather win a flag before the above teams!

Not good & what does the AFL do, sinks the boots into clubs like ours by ensuring any good talent will end up at GWS or GC,corrupt draws which favour bigger clubs & sink endless money into new clubs. The agenda is for new clubs to win flags not foundation clubs! Anderson & Demetriou should hang their heads in shame that a gun was put to other clubs heads to either pay $800K + for a 20yo or lose them to GWS & GC. So we r going to have 20yo earning more/same than the top seasoned/proven players. Great outcome AFL!

What I cant understand ( if this is true) what has the club done to let him down?? Trengove,Taspcott,Watts, etc have all resigned.Did they let them down! How is he any different! If anything he will be higher paid then them if he accepts the offer!

Why are we flogging a dead horse, yeah great to get MCC members who support the MFC to buy a melb membership, but the club has to attract new ones in particular young ones going fwd. Aligning with Casey is one way as that is a huge growth area, continue to build the brand & success will help you, when you see the filth & hawks getting 60-70K members its a lot more than just winning flags its their business model etc.

The difference between Hawthorn & the MFC is they started a complete rebuild of club back in 1997 after the failed merger. They united the club & got the right people, worked on their finances, huge membership, training facilities etc got the club be able to operate with the times MFC did nothing to address the above, Guitnik used his own money but failed,our boards have always been shaky/unstable, poor business model, crap training facilities (how Daniher got us to play finals & GF is amazing). Only since 2008 has the current board with Jimmy have addressed all of the above, so Hawthorn have almost 14yrs jump start!

EnergyWatch had plans to sponsor an AFL Club to help establish our brand as a house hold name in 2010. I had been assessing the performances on and off the field of potential clubs. I believed the Melbourne Football Club presented the best opportunity for success in both areas. I was very impressed with the management and growth potential that the club offered. Good to see how the MFC is perceived from a business sense!

Watching Brad Green our Captain sitting as a sub was very humiliating! You don treat your captain like this! If he is not 100% dont play him show him the respect! Would Carlton treat Judd like this, or Maxwell at collingwood? Davey is no leader! The MFC needs to address this area!

The word is uncompromising! Look at the our captain Green vs all the top teams Judd etc, these players always continue to work hard regardless of the score! Green has been a good player but always goes missing! Players like Judd even when losing continue to work hard Look at how the players,coach carried on after beating Essendon?? I just think there is too much back slapping after 1 win & our players get comfortable The teams that win flags play with same hard intensity week in week out & any passengers are dropped

Thats fine to ask members/supporters to donate, but at what stage does will the MFC implement a business model which results in not having to ask us for money? Thus far the club has done a fantastic job at fixing our the financials/debt, but they cant continue to go to the members???

We need to look at the positives ( i know its hard) 1. 5 million debt cleared with money in the bank 2. Record membership 3 Record sponsorship & with new one in 2011 for 1.9mill(reported) 4 New state of the art training facilities ( remember junction oval) 5 Building young list 6 fixing off field issues/appoint new football manager 7 Appointing a good coach will be easier with the above in place.
