  1. I have before, and not that long ago, you pushed the same line then. I won't do the work as I said before, because no-matter what result you will regurgitate the same stuff you always do, discrediting anyone on here who holds a different view than yourself. There are consitencies of pattern across all drafts some strong and some weaker, but none are completely random. One such consistency is the level of randomness that occurs in every draft after the first few picks. That is unlikely to be any different for this draft and given the situation with luke ball it is a timely consideration also. Certainly worth more than the credit you give it. Either you understand it or you stick your head in the sand and ignore it.
  2. True not a reliable indicatore, but an indicator worth considering here at least, and with a little bit of work compiling some lists and relating all recent drafts to eachother via some regression analysis it would prove you incorrect. I would provide all of this for free and add to the quality and output of this site by providing unbiased evidence in place of opinion, but then you would just come back spouting some more about tattslotto and that evidence is worthless and so on and so forth.
  3. I wouldn't bother, I think RR was attacked as a child by some evidence, he prefers opinion and speculation over facts, especially his own, he's the Barnaby Joice of demonland. And the tattslotto analogy is weak. Good wook Footynut, definately worth trying to gain a better understanding of the relative value of all our picks.
  4. I'm so excited to see him play! If I could freeze myself to wake up for Rd1 NAB cup I would.
  5. 17th Oct? That's only like 3 weeks after mad monday.
  6. The most successful club since 1926 is Melbourne with 11 premierships. (equal with Carlton).
  7. Put it on free to air!! Not everyone has Foxtel, and it is certainly worthy of putting on One HD. I like the idea of counting up for the top 10.
  8. Yes it does read that way, it wasn't my intention. Consider it protection from the "Stats don't mean anything" mob.
  9. Stats For those who care about them.
  10. It never ceases to amaze me how poorly researched some of these articles are.
  11. The cancer I think was his generally soft approach to playing and apparent lack of commitment. Which is far more dangerous to a young list than what Brock did.
  12. Nothing is that black and white. There were many difference between that situation and this one. Not least of which was because Trav was a cancer, which Mclean wasn't (note past tense). That one was the right move at the right time, and I was happy with it at the time as I am now. He does make up half of the reason my name is what it is, (soon to be a third).
  13. My opinions on the relative value of pick 11 vs Mclean are shaped by two factors: 1: I rate McLean. 2: I don't rate mid to late first round draft picks as much as others, and certainly not this year's. This is completely independant of the MFC's drafting ability. I am well within the minority on both fronts, in fact I suspect I make up 100% of the minority in this case. Which I am quite comfortable to do as I am yet to hear a decent argument to bring me into line with the rest of demonland and their apparent addiction unproven players.
  14. Yes the point is moot, but isn't it always on here? Anyway, he is a versatile player, which means his position is where he is most needed. He does kick goals (near one a game), and can play defensively. He will never hold down one position on the ground, but modern football, or at least Bailey's football demands the exact opposite. The fact that he has played the largest portion of his career as a half back certainly detracts from his value , but overall I would be content with his selection at PSD1 over a new kid. Keep in mind that McPhee, unlike Thorpe and McDonald was not delisted (unwanted) he just wasn't wanted that much.
  15. We couldn't have, given that he wanted to leave. We were lucky Carlton were so quick to jump at it, it could have ended up like a Luke Ball situation. But if you had asked me do you want to trade Brock for pick 11 before I knew he wanted leave, I would have said no. And i'll stand by that, Brock will be a better player for the next 7 years than our pick 11 will be.
  16. He's a versatile player, and would add to our list. I think he is a better option than drafting a young kid at PSD1, difficult to say where he stands in relation to some of the others around, as I read it I would prefer Thorpe but there are a lot of unknowns with him. I wouldn't be writing home about him or putting his number on my jumper, but I wouldn't be upset either. Lloyd, Lucas (though he had little impact this year), Lovett, McPhee and they're about to lose Fletcher (even if knights thinks he can play until he's 78). Large structural changes to a club already in transition, I feel that as a list they are not heading in one direction. They are not without positives, Hurley, Watson and I rate Houli (even though he struggled this year), I do expect them to build over the next few years without the need to bottom out, just not next year.
  17. Not that Mclean beating Judd means anything, but I still think we got a raw deal losing Mclean for pick 11. (discounting the fact he wanted to leave).
  18. Woudn't be upset if we picked him up in the PSD, could do much worse than McPhee. Bombers will go backwards this year. Not just because of McPhee, but it won't help them either.
  19. If you take out the question of "does he want to play for us", and ignore the apparent weakness of the draft and I would say he is worth an early second round selection. The weaker draft probably slips him just into the late first round zone. Then the question of his disdain for Melbourne; the club needs to assess this themselves. For me though I hope we don't discount the possibility too early. If I had to call it right now, I would take him at 18, with some trepidation. A big NO to 11.
  20. He hasn't nominated for the ND yet (i'm fairly sure). We have until 18th to convince him.
  21. So does this mean he now has until 18th of November (wednesday) to nominate for the ND?
  22. wouldn't they have to be paid out of their contracts, then put on a Rookie contract? In which case financially they are better off.
  23. I was under the impression that he has to nominate for the ND by 2:00 today.
  24. Did you have anyone in mind? Maybe Dylan Grimes or Jurrah's cousin?
  25. Completely unexpected, and flies in the face of many posters on here who didn't agree with the policy of delisting contracted players. A good move by the club.
