  1. Good article on afl.com from Bluey Mckenna on selecting assistant coaches

"People often ask how much weight coming from a successful club carries when you're selecting a coaching panel. The short answer is, a small amount. Sometimes blokes have done it tough in clubs where they've struggled for success, but you've actually seen growth. You've got to look at that. Sometimes a coach in a good organisation that is successful can also be lazy because, let's be honest, the players are doing 60 per cent of it and you've just got to turn up and manage the drills."

  2. He's here at my place. Cooked him a ripper fat steak and got rid of a few brewskis whilst trying to convince him to take on the top job.

All he's giving me is "not at the moment," whatever that means...

Make sure you keep Roos hostage, don't let him leave until you've signed him for 5 years :)

  3. Are there any Demonland physios or surgeons that can elaborate more about this type of injury? I guess maybe even Clark's doctors don't know the full extent.. or aren't willing to disclose what they know.

I did a bit of googling and there are some scary articles about career ending injuries to NFL players. Statistically most people who get the injury recover though...

This site has some photos about what it looks like: http://www.footeducation.com/lisfranc-injury-fracture-midfoot-sprain

  5. Speaking of ex dee rejects now playing in W.A....

"West Coast rookie Jamie Bennell was the standout AFL-listed player in the WAFL on Saturday, leading Swan Districts to a 39-point win over Claremont. Bennell had 23 possessions against the Tigers as he continues his recovery from the knee reconstruction that ended his 57-game career at Melbourne."

  6. His problems are many. The 15 minutes it takes for him to get the ball to his boot is a fair problem. The fact he struggles to touch the ball away from a ruck contest is another problem. And if he does touch it he's a liability. Someone please end the experiment.

yeh hasn't he now been on our list for 6 years, i know ruckmen take time but geez....

  7. Not that it matters very much because the entire list is on a very well deserved, hard earned break this weekend but cop this anyway:-

    Mitch Clark (foot) 4-5 weeks

    Chris Dawes (ankle) 1-2 weeks

    James Frawley (hamstring) 3 weeks

    Jack Grimes (shoulder) 3-4 weeks

    Jordie McKenzie (face) test

    Jack Viney (toe) 1 week

is Jordie getting a new face ala Travolta in Face off?

  8. My understanding is Mark Neeld said he probably won't play again this year.

    umm what

He said Clark's foot injury was "a great wait and see" and he would be pleased if the key forward played another game this year.

"The way that it gets explained, the boys say it's a very unique injury," Neeld said.

"The ligament is going well but they had to take the screw out early because it shifted.

"He does four days of rehab and he's got to rest two.

"On the second day that he rests he goes off and sees some very expensive specialist who then tells him what he can do for the next four days.

"How frustrating is that? I get that report every six days.

"So if Mitch plays another game for the year I'll be really pleased. It's that unknown."

  9. Damn... was hoping the eagles lost.

Can anyone foresee the scenario of the eagles missing the eight, then deciding not to renew worsfold's contract, then the dees stepping in with a four year term he can't refuse?

He does fit the category of experienced coach who has had success.
