  1. the fact we can't stick tackles is the problem, they're the coaches.. we certainly shouldn't have been out muscled by Gold Coast.

Maybe if we did tackling drills at more than 70% in training we might stick them in a game.

I've seen a number of tackling drills at training this year and teaching techniques at training this year, but struggle to recall many occasions where they were really going at it 100%, even less so (if any) during match simulations.

As I said after training last week, I would prefer to risk injuries and have training done in match like conditions than the current way.

  2. I know it's not going to happen as he has been good so far this year, but I would be dropping Terlich along with Nicho this week (sorry if this has been covered).

Last week, both of them pulled up short of marking contests, Terlich in the 3rd, not certain what quarter Nichos was, but both had the chance to cut of a ball from a carlscum lead and probably get a free as they would have been cannoned into from behind. They stopped and watched the contest.

These habits must be eradicated from the word go if we are ever to be the toughest team to play against.

  3. KD

What is your assessment of Barry?

Is he a keeper and if so when do you think he will get his chance?

ie is he for real or just another project player?

    Ta

Unfortunately didn't see Barry, wasn't out there today and I haven't seen him play at Casey yet, was in development league and heard he did well.

From what I saw in the preseason, I am a fan and believe he will be a good player for us in the future. Was hoping he would get some game time this year, but doubt it now.

  4. I don't 'know' (and neither do you), but I'm on what some people around these parts call the reality bus. Frawley simply looks like he doesn't want to be there.

Chip was at the Casey game, supporting his teammates playing for Casey on Saturday.

Not exactly the actions of someone who doesn't want to be there.

  5. Comment on overall intensity and skill level RG?

The last training I went to was about a 4/10 for intensity and a 2/10 for skill level that was before the Brisbane game. I hope they've improved since.

Presume that was the Anzac Day session, which was probably the worst I have seen.

The skill level was pretty good, that being said, in the handball drills only one had any real pressure on the ball carrier, I would have preferred the second (coming out of backline) to have had more pressure, but that's just my opinion.

The tackling drills were relatively good, though I'd prefer to risk an injury and have them really go at it 100%, similar in the marking drills, good but I would like to see them go harder in such drills. In that drill, was impressed with Fitzy, whose last two games at Casey have been impressive.

  6. Didn't get down to the paddock till just after 11, when I got there and for the next half hour the squad were in three groups, each group taking it in turns doing three different exercises, one was just a few variants on old fashioned handball drills, one hand balling in a circle in the back 50, till a whistle went and the defenders had to clear it and a third involved trying to keep the ball off the ground and away from the tackling opponents to get the ball through cones at either side of the ground.

After this they broke into a lot of smaller groups, some doing tackle drills, some working on an opponent in marking contests, some doing work in the 50, leading passing and shooting for goal.

When the bulk of training was done, some players stayed back and practised there goal kicking and hitting up a leading target.

Frawley and Garland grabbed a coach and seemed to be practising different variations on getting the advantage in one on one contests to punch the ball away.

Meanwhile Taggert was pushing himself in running drills, Jordie and (not sure but from memory think) Tynan also did some running drills.

Jamar or Watts were not involved when I was watching, didn't see JT at all, Dawes finished not too long after I got there and Chunky left the track just a bit before the others.

    Any questions feel free

  7. If Melbourne had notified the AFL what the hell was Andrew Demetriou going on about a few week back.

He screwed us a few weeks back, talking BS to the world and making us looks even worse than we have in recent times

  8. Yes, because you managed to put words together in a cohesive sentence.

This time I just thought the content was manure.

Funny, you were on your own and you made it quite clear you had trouble understanding a simple sentence. Nothing new.

On the topic, you obviously agree with the decision from the board to wait a week before fighting back against the AFL's claims we hadn't informed them of our communications with Dank. Why?

  9. it's a shame this place has become the stage for whingeing crackpots to give performances

just go and get yourself a curry and a beer and stop blubbering for 2 seconds

Did you actually understand what was written this time?

  10. No it doesn't, this should be good for another 15 pages of hot air by keyboard, what doesn't add up, the number of posters who bang on and on and on and on about conspiracy theories?

No conspiracy here, am just baffled why the club would wait before deciding to fight back. It looks like the evidence shows that we were upfront and honest with the AFL yet we stood back and did nothing while our image was trashed by Dimwit and the media.

We should have fought back straight away.

I tried to defend us on SEN this morning and KB wouldn't have a bar of it cutting me off claiming the AFL were, from his understanding, annoyed as we withheld information from them.

We didn't, but the perception that we did remains as we took too long to fight back and get the truth out in the public domain.

  11. That's not the draft, that was FA or the PSD.

I know players can stipulate terms in those instances, but not in the nat draft.

And I am pretty sure there is a mandatory 2-year contract for kids in the National Draft.

Fair enough, can't claim to be very knowledgable on the draft rules etc.

  12. I think we'll have a fair bit of free coin at years end, looks to me like Frawley, Sylvia and Watts will leave. Davey will be pushed with Gilles, Rodan. Frawley will be a massive hit, it shows how much of a gaping hole Rivers left, but once Chip leaves our defense will screwed!

Saw Chip watching his mates play at Casey Saturday, didn't look like someone planning on walking out on said mates IMO

  13. Who do you think leaked the information to the Age? I think we have fought back and I liked it.

It's a shame Bates withheld information about the use of AOD 9604 on Trengove's foot but I feel very comfortable with the way the Club has handled the issue.

I would be much happier if they fought back straight away, even after the info came out we had Venom Denham claiming we had misled to the AFL as our fight back was too late and the mud had stuck.

  14. Hey chap, there is still an investigation going on by ASADA or AADAA or WADDA or whatever it is called, so therefore the Club did the right thing and did not make any statement that may be prejudicial to the inquiry, similar to Essendon yesterday

That way the Club are not seem to be interfering with the inquiry,

It is called a no win situation

Disagree, they have made the statement that they had informed theAFL about Bates being in communication with Danks. My point is, they should have made it the night of the 7.30 report and the mud about the club misleading the AFL would not have stuck

  15. Have been waiting a week as my laziness hoped someone else would do this but here we go.

Last week it came out that Melbourne had in fact informed the AFL back in February that Dr Bates had been having communication with Stephen Danks.

I, and many others, slammed the club for being dishonest with the AFL. It turns out they were not, that it was Dimwitrio who was the one that was feeding everyone with BS.

For being so critical of the club for trying to deceive the AFL, I apologise.

After the 7.30 report the club went into lockdown mode and considered their response, they came out with a similar statement to their public on in February. Last week on Footy Classified, Caro told us the truth, that being the club had informed the AFL that the doc had been in communication with Danks. Why the club didn't come out and say this after the 7.30 report and when Dimwit had hung us out to dry beggars belief. Instead they bent over and let the football world believe we had been less than truthful to the AFL and that impression has stuck, so much so that most media outlets have ignored their little press release (or announcement) saying the truth.

They had a chance to defend the clubs integrity straight away, sat back and did next to nothing until after the mud had stuck.

    Pathetic.
