  1. so has Bates stood aside with the chance to be reinstated when/if all is given the all clear or has he been sacked or did he resign?

all 3 options have been reported and im not sure which one it is

    From the clubs statement:

THE MELBOURNE Football Club today accepted an offer by Club doctor Dan Bates to stand aside, effective immediately, pending the outcome of an investigation by ASADA and the AFL into a pre-season supplements program at the Club.

  2. Posted by Vida on 'ology, fair point:

"We have sufficient concerns about an identified breakdown in reporting protocols that we believe it is appropriate that Dr Bates stands aside until these matters are further investigated," McLardy said.

    If that's the case then how can they say with confidence that;

Every supplement included in the Club’s supplement regime is approved by the Club Doctor and is in accordance with all ASADA and WADA guidelines

  3. So, if the club statement released now is true, then the club statement in the first place was true.

Dank never employed by the club, never had contact with players, only role was recommending a clinic to Bates. Possibly also recommended certain treatments to Bates.

Still has a little stink of dodgy to it. But the club really needed to get a visible 'talking head' on television underlining that key point - Dank never administered or prescribed anything to any player, coach or official at the Melbourne football club.

Or, y'know, they could have a meeting and release a one page statement and go quiet.

I can only say, there had better be some kind of brilliant counter-punch coming up soon.

No, the clubs statement in Feb is still wrong. If, and a big if, the text messages are true (and it is looking more and more like they are, Bate hasn't disputed them) then Dank had contact with players, opposite to what the club said in February.

  4. Ok, I've left now, they were wrapping it up.

    Final points:

    - Jamar left the complex about half an hour early, after getting his back worked on. He may be doubtful.

    - Kent looked very good (again). Maxy Gawn looked good too

    - Dawesy is a running machine. Powered through plenty of laps. On the other hand Gillies could barely run, so regardless of form I doubt he'll play

    - Dunny cut Blease's head open, leading to a lot of crimson being expelled, and of course, jokes about how his face matches his hair colour..

That's about it, they looked solid, but being as wet as it was, hard to get a read on their actual form.

    Cheers

Was wondering why Blease had such a heavy bandage

  5. Jamar is not fit....its his leg/foot injury and it hasnt healed fully yet is my take...Has anyone noticed he isnt jumping barely at all in a ruck contest....

The guy is a pretty good ruckman when fit...people need to lay off i say.

Its the team as a whole that have to play better not just Russian.

No idea if this is correct or not, but got down to training quite late and didn't see Jamar (or Chip) out there at all.

    Gawn was looking good...

  6. Last week, we had a late withdrawal. Don't understand the way the coaches are getting hammered for making sure all possible cover was available in the case of a late withdrawal.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

  7. I don't get that Spencer has 'half the ability' of Jamar?!?!?!?! He gets his hands on it around the ground about 4 times as much, and then does something with it. Faster, better mark, as good a kick, more aggressive, more competitive. How does he have 'half the ability'?

Talking about ability, not recent performances.

Jamar, at his best, has the proven ability to make the AA team. Probably quicker than Spencer, better mark, much better kick and again, at his best equal on competitiveness.

Spencer I like, but Jamar has a lot more ability even if we haven't seen it for 3 years

  8. Jamar was better in the ruck this week, but to me a passage in the first summed up where he is at.

Was on Meth Coasts Sinclair, they had a kick out from our behind. Jamar stood, blocking space, arms out on HBF.

Meth Coast, pass to pocket, Jamar watches stationary as his man runs 15-20m to boundary side, pass goes to Jamars man as he makes half hearted belated effort to man up.

35 out, slight angle, set shot, goes to handball.

So, it's not just his work rate that has disappeared, his confidence has as well. Needs to get his mind right at Casey.

If Gawn isn't ready, Spencer should play. Half the ability of Jamar but at least he tries!
