Why? Decent player. Uninspiring leader, hasn’t been able to even lead his team into finals or raise the club’s basketcase reputation. Zero media profile for a club that’s crying out for relevance. Middle of the road is about spot on.
nah
he's an excellent player and communicator on field, has lead the way in developing a strong attitude towards professionalism around the franchise, and is one of the reasons why they are developing strongly

crom offered him ~$7m over 7 years to be their #1 key defender for the rest of his career
it'd be more than enough to turn anyone's head

notifications have gone out advising of the price rise and 4k switch - according to a friend of mine at the coalface, afl will be in true 4k as nep improved all cameras (e.g both those used by 7 and fox) last season
however, the espn channels aren't being broadcast on 4k - just fs1-4 (cricket, nrl, whatever is shunted to 3, afl) and presumably any + channels that they run for overlap content
really annoying that the nba in particular is higher quality on illegal streams (e.g. true 4k) than thru the kayo on 4k enabled tvs and add ons that use 4k like apple tv, telstra tv etc
and, as per previous, it's not available on 4k in mobile apps and browsers
an inferior product just keeps going up in price...

Sparrow did mention he's brought some offensive changes from the Tigers over.
Would love if we could pressure like they did. It was elite for 4 years
our pressure game is elite
our disposal once forcing turnover is atrocious

Hunt had his chances there, his disposal was sub par. But yes boy does he have pace. When he took a defensive role he was more effective using his pace to stop the faster forwards, more than create play.
agreed
i honestly thought his best role for us was as a lock-down defender, but his occasional brainfarts where he'd run off his man / get caught offensive side made him a liability

when we are up and going we are a joy to watch
when we are kicking 7.17 in a final? yeah, pretty frustrating

Sounds like they are trying to launch something to compete with AppleTV/Google TV. I'm assuming it won't effect the existing Kayo/Binge apps.
it's a replacement of telstra tv, i assume - it'll be the same as the sky stream box, a puck device, that aggregates most (but probably not all) the streaming service options
i use a telstra tv and it has foxtel, kayo, netflix, binge, paramount, apple, nba, nfl, etc. etc. as standalone apps that you download and use accordingly

It is important to note we had over 70,000 members in 2023. I remember the club did the To Hell and Back episodes in early 2020 preseason documentary series. The media department did a great job putting together these episodes and the content was great to watch. Initially the club received criticism, but looking back it was the best thing the club did, and a year later we won the Premiership. I want to be more honest with my feelings about the media department, but I won't. Our Loyal Fan base wants more media content and the Club must deliver and service its member base better.
that was made by a third party organisation, not the mfc media dept

look higher than gibson's level as to who is to blame for the strategic direction of content delivery

This sounds absolutely cooked. McAdam is the most worrying of the recently injured, as i was hoping he’d cover for Kozzie in Rd 1. It is truly now or never for Josh Schache. He must be given an opportunity in Rd 1.
nah, go small in the forward line at the scg
schache the sub

Sounds like they're either bundling or wholesaling. It's the next round (Telstra's new product Hubbl is essentially a bundler).
The real game changer if it ever comes will be worldwide rights. Region locking is fragmenting the world of streaming as is the number of would be players
Effectively exists for American sports already - you can get nba, nfl, and mlb as standalone

pertinent to some of the discussion herein: https://theathletic.com/5255840/2024/02/06/espn-fox-warner-sports-streaming-service/
what will it mean for us in far flung oztraya? probably nothing with the various streamers tied to networks and our anti-siphoning...
...yet...

no issues with bringing it in - it's inevitable

this whole 'goodwin is inflexible' narrative is clearly incorrect
since the premiership year he has:
- had to try multiple different forward structures with our injuries / loss of players including playing the game's premium ruckman and inspirational skipper max gawn as a deep forward
- adjusted our midfield mix due to injury to one of the best midfielders ever seen in red and blue
- rotated brayshaw from wing to half back to midfield
- rotated pickett from being our best and most defensive small forward into an occasional midfielder
- rotated rivers our best running half-back flanker into an occasional midfielder
- rotated petracca our best inside / out midfielder forward to try and get our 'connection' working
- dropped a two-time all-australian ruckman because his role wasn't working in our side in the year in which he was recruited
simmon stubborn? myth!
