  1. 100% game has gone from 'contest and defence' to 'speed and skill'
  2. what about rachele? signed a massive deal and has 'disappointed' this year according to the likes of kornes (i think he's still been pretty good) i'm not sure he's a mid - certainly hasn't rolled thru there this much this year - but he has played in that mid / fwd combo role in the past and has some nice skills biggest query would be pace
  3. can see the bloods doing what they always seem to be doing of late - give up a start in q1, grind their way into it in q2 and q3, and then run away with it in q4 seems to have been the modus operandi of late - it was ours for a while too over the 2021-23 years; you come unstuck eventually, as we know it's a risky way to play
  4. whateley on sen with laura kane was like a dog with a bone - he just wouldn't accept that 'doctors know best' he's a good commentator when he's calling the game, but he's a pretentious poindexter
  5. meh, no premiership
  6. i'm halfway in the roco camp i THINK we're cooked but...we might not be? there's over a third of the season still to go, after all
  7. sorry @WalkingCivilWar, but something that i think is worth discussing re grundy - one of the advantages of trading him for reasonably similar to what we 'paid' for him is we got all his salary off the books where'd the circa ~700k a year go? certainly not on fullarton or billings (with the aints apaz paying a portion towards that of his high salary) i wonder whether we're paying 'unders' this year in order to maximise our salary cap capital in future years now, back to non-mfc - imagine how good the bloods would be if they had been able to keep dawson
  8. wouldn't have made a difference - hawks could absorb the huge salary and there was no way we could do so don't forget he was still on big coin from the gc17 contract most deals for the end of each year are sorted out 6-18 months prior, really, not during the actual trade week; it's why requests out of the blue like petty to the crom or lachie neale suddenly wanting to go back to flagmantle are less rather than more likely to come to fruition
  9. tell that to the dogs when they lose in ballarat again
  10. you probably would've sacked clarkson from hawthorn at the end of 2011, hardwick from tigs at the end of 2016 too?
  11. went with: bears footscray? poos&wees? bloods filth gw$?
  12. My cousin is a stats machine: 13 years on an AFL list, two months older than Max Gawn. Game number 57 tonight Tom Campbell is the full Jake ‘Spencil’ Spencer Campbell - 12.5 years, 57 games Jonathan Giles - 12 years, 63 games Spencil - 10 years, 38 games Honourable mention Andrew Phillips - 12 years, 82 games
  13. this i'd also be keen on their second rounder in exchange for our third as part of it
  14. just need him to recover well for 2025 now
  15. unlikely to happen i would say unfortunately, accidents happen
  16. is hore fit? i thought he was still out injured for some weeks yet... don't see how adding mcadam and amw - who has been learning to play as a defender because his defensive workrate was so poor as a forward - into the forward line adds speed, pressure, competitiveness, nor aggression
  17. in three seasons the core of success has gone from 'contest and defence' to 'speed and skill' we've tried to adjust our style from our intrinsic style and been found wanting - we possess neither attribute to execute the gameplan that they are trying to execute i think we are so poorly skilled and other than Windsor, McVee, and Pickett there is also no one with line breaking pace in our side with the ability to hit a target not turn it over unfortunately you can’t teach speed and skill sparrow is bog ordinary, oliver can't power away from the contest, viney looks like he's moving in molasses, and trac is injured we play anb and pickett in the midfield and it means we have no one capable of applying defensive pressure in f50
  18. and simpson at meth coke their journeys from 2016 and 2018 are instructional - either we generate and return to finals, like footscray, or we fall right away like meth coke i can't see goodwin getting the flick this season
  19. the biggest issue with anb and pickett playing more midfield minutes is that we have no one providing any defensive coverage in the forward half of the ground
  20. in 2024 that's: - spargo playing in opening round when mlies off fitness issues; not seen since with his achilles injury - lever playing with a stuffed knee since Anzac day eve - may playing with broken ribs vs crom and clearly not 'right' - oliver playing with a busted hand vs bears - petty hobbling around like a 77 year old with a cactus ankle for the last four weeks - viney's ongoing shoulder issues that seem to have been around for the entire season - petracca being sent back on field with busted ribs, lacerated spleen, and partially punctured lung our medical dept needs a change
  21. our docs were derelict in their duties allowing him to go back on field
  22. An easy yes / no question - will we make finals? Based on the past four weeks I can’t see it, but want to see if there’s consensus on the podcast
  23. We kicked 5 posters and I think 5 out on the full The filth waltzed the ball into open goals Our midfield was torn to shreds - with the exception of Gawn, who again is trying to do it all himself
  24. 6: Gawn 5: Pickett 4: van Rooyen 3: Salem 2: ANB 1: McDonald season is cooked
  25. my favourite riposte to the 'buller' jokes is always "PLEASE! MFC fans don't ski LOCAL!! it's aspen in february and then japan post-season, you philistine!!" (he says, having never been to either)
