That second quarter was Hawthorn giving everything they had to shut the contest down, after realizing their only option was to keep the margin of their loss to a minimum.
But playing all out defense is never sustainable against a side that is smashing you in contested possessions and clearances and when you don’t have the forwardline nor the disposal skills to punish the opposition on turnover.

They’d be very disappointed that they managed only one goal with May and Lever both off the ground.

They are hot garbage and it gives me great pleasure to watch them get destroyed.

    yep

i'm not convinced the game style mitchell wants them to play can be effectively executed by the players at his disposal

  2. one of the best defensive displays i've seen us execute

the way we held up their ball movement and punished them on turnover

second quarter was ugly, compounded by may's injury, but we were dominant otherwise

    professional win

I might call in on SEN - Pies fan Peter from Brighton on the line.

Go full troll - Eddie from Toorak

Make sure to make some murmurings about the off field instability and board ructions

  4. so if lambie's party holds the balance of power after today's state election, and they are fundamentally opposed to a new stadium being built, does that mean they can block it?

i'm mostly here just for the afl having a massive sulk

Jeffo Still in defence, after being pick 15 as a forward 🤯

good - best place for him to continue to develop his game

he kicked 20+ goals in the vfl in his first year as a forward on an afl list

now to add extra strings to his bow he can develop a defensive mindset

I know any exposure is supposed to be good publicity, but would you want your product associated with such a [censored] system as the AFL score review?

won't somebody think of the repucom!

P.S. There's alot of GWS and Sun's fans here at the GP, probably more than their whole membership.

you leave the afl executive alone! they've got important schmoozing to do!!

  8. fwiw, i share brad johnson's visceral reaction to poindexter whately asking him if he'd bought a membership...

"no! they're an opposition club!! they're going to be coming for my beloved bulldogs' players...i'm not supporting them!"

gerard really wasn't expecting it, and followed up and brad was all "how're you going to feel when they start poaching cats' players?"

    he had no real answer

    A regulation win coming up.

The following three weeks probably decides if we can finish top 4

The Petty experiment is beyond me but I believe Goodwin is taking a punt on an easy win tomorrow

    it's not an experiment imo

he's in our best team and he'll get up to speed faster in the afl than he will at casey

My understanding is, we are just crossing some Ts for Govt funding / approval.

All going well there should be an aannouncement by the end of this year.

Assuming it gets the go ahead, we are on track to commence building of the facility at the Heath sometime in 2025.

the notion of having multiple training ovals for our four sides is such a huge change

i'm very curious to see how the filth, the tiggas, and the baggers manage it all with just the one oval available to them; i imagine the filth will just take over gosch's area again, while highgate in craigieburn was meant to provide those future ovals for the tigs - a facility that hume council spent massive $ on back in late 2000s only for gale etc to turn their noses up at

our 30 year lease with casey is such an important part of the future strategic footballing direction of the club and our four sides

Binny, we made 5 changes from the Round 1 team for the round 2 team. One, Bowey, was forced because of his injury. There was discussion around this, but to my mind the selection of Hore to replace him was not contentious and was generally accepted. Three players, Spargo, Schache and Laurie were dropped from the team because their form was questionable. I do not recall much discussion on them being replaced.

One player, Tomlinson, was dropped and replaced by TMac and there was a lot of reaction to that selection as the general opinion was that Tomlinson had performed adequately.

I was reacting to this comment of yours .... "As BDA notes his selections last week, much ridiculed on here, turned out to be very good decisions." I do not agree that the decisions of last week were much ridiculed. Four of the five selections were accepted without much, if any ridicule.

spargo was out injured with his achilles as well

two forced changes, three dropped (all justified)
