  1. they're playing like a completely different side of late compared to when we defeated them earlier in the year finlayson and dixon is really working as an undersized ruck combo for them
  2. tiges got lynch after their first premiership - part of what helped then win two of the next three imo the equivalent for us would be picking up, say, charlie curnow at the end of next year as a high-priced free agent they traded out baker and higgins to the aints for not huge return in consecutive years, and lost ellis via free agency to gc17; they're not exactly 'key' players - the equivalent of us losing spargo, chandler, and perhaps a neal-bullen? by comparison it looks like we are up against it to retain jackson, a key part of our plans for the next decade i remain confident that gus brayshaw is going nowhere
  3. buddy >>> tex both will end up being at their current clubs in 2023
  4. sonja hood had gloves off "what sort of a question is that?"
  5. man that was a spicy press conference
  6. gil goes for the aints, has a soft spot for the crom, and doesn't do the fixturing may has been 'off' since he got concussed against freo and then suspended internally i trust with the return of regular playing he'll get back to regular form
  7. spoke to my thource who is pretty close to the crom - says any and all rumours re tex are being promulgated by kornes ignore it all i say
  8. i can't understand the logic of switching gus out of the position that he's having the best year of his career in to go back into the middle seems like a case of robbing peter to pay paul to me
  9. cos they were wayne jackson's franchise baby
  10. no, our salary cap breaches were lyon, stynes, viney, and schwarz from memory - 95-98 and freo being 'gifted' an extra early pick beggars belief - one of wayne jackson's gifts for his beloved franchise
  11. lobb wanting to leave and freo being okay with him doing so is very odd he's in career best form in a top 4 side understand they want dogga, but he's more about the future than 'now'? their window IS now as much as it is / could be the future
  12. pick 2 and 18 for white and 22 they traded pick 2 (brad ottens) for chris bond and pick 21 we used pick 22 to pick troy longmuir who - being a wa boy - inevitably requested a trade 'home' to freo several years later i find it BIZARRE how much wa players some to be desperate to play in their home town
  13. rozee what a monster goal
  14. fwiw i think it's disingenuous to look at players solely by their goals record i don't know if it's available, but is there record keeping for avg. per game of being the targets for i50 kicks? i still the best structure is two talls, a medium tall, three smalls - basically what we played for the majority of last year and where we are clearly currently missing plugger mac as the lead-up player and second tall forward i would wager fritta - who i'd say is our medium tall - would actually be our #1 target i50, but that's just guessing
  15. darcy cameron is so much better as a ruck / forward than a forward / ruck
  16. who'da thought a full-back would play his best footy in the defensive area
  17. based on the bits i saw, laurie looked really good working super hard to get to from contest to contest, and then didn't waste it when he had it jvr's mark and goal from distance superb late in the last quarter of a slog of a game, but i have no idea if his fitness is strong enough play at afl intensity the sort of weather suits dunstan; not so much baker, rivers, hunt etc.
  18. i blame @picket fence for manifesting this
  19. no the only interesting thing about that article is that jon ralph admits that jackson could wake up tomorrow and decide he's staying in order words...he has as much idea as anyone else
  20. yes it did but the double-tall target strategy - gawn / jackson plus tmac / brown is not working any more cos plugger ain't there any more his absence is really noticeable imo
  21. may more often than not takes our kick outs
  22. worked fine in the first 10 weeks we are REALLY missing plugger mac
  23. logue has been very good forward for freo since they moved him there - i reckon he's got more upside than you mcstay doesn't impact contests like tommy mac oh, and in terms of naming them, free agents this year and players who'll go for the same for a new contract at another club who i would take over mcstay - amon from the pear, taranto from gw$ not to mention investing that money in keeping sparrow, jordon, pickett, rivers, bowey over the same time period and spending the $3m across multiple players already on our list
