  1. Just on the drop kick, this is the best kick to use to correct flaws in kicking. You have to get the ball drop right or you can't kick a drop kick. When I was a lot younger I had a high ball drop pretty close to a two hand drop. six weeks of kicking nothing but drop kicks improved that, same as learning left foot as soon as the kicking action has there, on to the drop kick to get the ball drop right.
  2. He will only be as good as our forwards and mids let him. If like we have seen so far this season there is no pressure out of our forward 50 and through the middle he can't get into the intercept positions. If however we can slow the ball movement down he will be an extreme effective player for us.
  3. The game style will evolve, a few years back the Roos/Malthouse years it was team defense, it has changed to more focus on defending and winning the ball where it is so teams get scored against as soon as it clears the scrimmage. What will happen is a club will work a way and it will most likely be Hawthorn to beat the pressure. This will be drafting kids that have high skill level that will kick the ball low and hard over 20-30m. It will change at the moment at U18 level they are testing for athletes this will evolve to kids that actually have the skill set to play at a high level and clubs will back themselves to make them fit enough. The game is being played the way it is today because clubs want the ready made player, you need to be able to run and jump first, kick and mark second and clubs are backing themselves to teach players how to kick once they get them. To me if you can't kick at 18 your bad habits are already there and it is impossible to go from a average kick to elite, you can improve a little but not a lot. Fitness you can always improve
  4. Funny, the game is better to be watched on TV now that live at the ground. Take away the atmosphere of the crowd, watching the game is like watching an U9s local game of football with 36 players within 60ms of the ball. Your last point changing Holding the ball rules, they don't need be altered they need to be enforced. You get the ball you need to dispose of it, soon as you take a couple of steps your done and if you don't handball or kick the ball pay the kick no matter where abouts on the ground it is.
  5. If we play the same style of game this week Essendon will get us by 60+ points, they are a front running side that love open space, we want to keep the ball safe in confined space if it gets outside we will be done very quickly. That is our issue we haven't been able to stop sides getting the ball outside
  6. The concern is V Richmond we refused to take any risks, it was like watching us when Mark Neeld coached, sticking to the Members side boundary and not even looking to switch play or attack through the corridor. Our side plays its best football one on one when we don't allow loose men in our forward 50m. We are a side with really only two players that have looked to improve on 2017, Hogan and O-Mac, Salem is getting there, Gawn is ineffective the rest look like they are running in quicksand
  7. I had a trident membership and any time we played a big club there supporters just sat in the reserved seat areas. The only time they were moved on was if the person whose seat they were sitting in turned up. It was a joke and most of the time it was loud mouth young blokes that where fishing for someone to bite. The club couldn't do anything about it MCG staff couldn't care who they let in. Besides the view which to me level two on the half forward flank is the best seats at the MCG, you don't get much else
  8. The only way getting back into Round 1 is trading a player that is worth a Round 1 pick. Really we have Hogan/Oliver/Petracca/Gawn that should get us a top 10 pick, Lever cost us 2 first round picks but we would struggle to get 1 back for him. Out side that we don't even have players that would fetch us a first round pick
  9. Agree with this go low and hard, he either fends you off high or you spear tackle him. Do a Selwood and duck into the hand so he gets you high

Need the rain to stop, have zero confidence after the way we played in the rain last week
  13. Keep on Walking, we have all heard that from opposition supporters over the past 12 years, I'm sure some copped this on Sunday
  14. Easy response Hawthorn smashed us and showed us how to play wet weather football, plain and simple we where shocking. We have an opportunity next week to show our response on the ground, our supporters don't want words they want action and we need to deliver week in week out.
  15. Playing in big matches makes no difference, when a team delivers garbage on the field they cop it regardless. Both Melb and Carlton were expected to improve this year and both are well behind on what they delivered in 2017. The Bulldogs copped it for a couple of weeks and bounced back, Essendon copped it, we cop it regularly because we show so much then let ourselves down with insipid performances. We all can cop losing it is part of the game, but the way we lose on a regular basis is like we give up when it gets hard. All I want is players/coaches and officials to shut up and perform, we talk to much and this goes both ways.
  16. Can this be the Shut up game. Every 3-4 weeks after a game like we played v Hawthorn our players and officials face the media, with the same garbage, Not Melbourne Football, we went away from structure, we let of supporters down, hurt our Brand, mentally beaten. Shut up, its ok if you hear that once a season, we have heard it every 4-5 weeks for the past 11 years. I know we have to do media, some of our players have media contracts but enough excuses, shut up and perform
  17. Hope he has another role as defensive coach for Melbourne
  18. I reckon this is Bernie's best role for the club. He tags really good but he is a terrible back man

Freo's big brother will swoop on Hogan. West Coast will be looking at him to replace Kennedy, they will want him at Melb for another 2 years then say thanks very much for developing him welcome back to WA. The only way we are keeping Hogan is by playing finals and not just a side that makes finals but a side that can contend in finals. There is nothing more important to our club than breaking our finals draught

Time to play to our side and stop trying to copy Richmonds style. If we are going to continue to kick long to a contest we need tall forwards to compete, bring in 3 quickish players and 2 talls In: Pedo, Weiderman, Hunt, Hannan, Stretch Out: Lewis, Milkshake, ANB, Bugg, Vince All Vince and Lewis do is fall over. To me the below is a more balanced side. Jetta OMac Lever Hibberd Frost Hunt Stretch Oliver Brayshaw Kent Weiderman Petracca Garlett Hogan Pederson Gawn Jones Salem Harmes, Hannan, Fritsch, Wagner
  21. We are trying to defend the forward half of the ground and we are to slow to get into our back half. Teams can see you get over own forward press and you will score
  22. It takes smart players to do this, which we don't have. They need to stand behind the player on the mark and can only Shepherd when play on is called. It enables the kicker to turn a 50m kick into a 60m play that puts pressure on defensive zones. Easy to defend against man up the man that is going to shepherd, try to stop is where the ball is rather that 60m down field
  23. It is an easy fix, our defenders are playing to high up the ground, the ball is coming out of our forward line that quick that as soon as it does we are done, a 50m kick clears our defenders we are scored against. Jetta played the role last year as that last line of defense 20m behind the last forward. This year he is running in quicksand. We need to defend deeper, all teams are doing it against us basically having 4 defenders across Half Back we push ours forward of center when the ball is forward. Mids need to work harder to defend between to 50m arcs and our forwards can't allow the ball to get out of our forward 50m so easy. We play our best football one on one we are garbage when we are out numbered up forward, it worked a couple of times last year Adelaide game was the example but we are missing Tom McDonald who gives a good contest.
  24. We can go back for 15 years pretty see sure this site was live then plus demonology, it is the same every year mentally weak dumb footballers. Our players are robots programmed to play one way. The conditions dont suit our players cant change

It is wet you cant play over possession handball football. Dumb plain and simple
