Yes but that was a mere warm up game. Roger knows when to peak, This is a Slam Tournament, he is beatable but only if the opposition is "on" otherwise they will be dog food. Most of Roger's opponents don't believe they can win...He has them beaten before the game starts. Very similiar to the MFC's problems over the last few decades.....
-
Roger certainly made little Lleyton look pretty Stupid on monday night, he wasn't even puffed out talking to jim Courier post match! if any one comes close to beating him this year they will need to play almost the perfect game.
-
That was a cracker that match...

I don't think Masturbating with a cheese Grater would be Amusing in the slightest 45 I have not done it, but as you have i will take your word for it!
-
I did and there will be more. ManUre will not win the title
-
I wasn't talking about the Test Arena i was talking about 20/20 & yes it is far more relevant.
-
Winning the Toss in Twenty Twenty is even more crucial i believe. Lose a couple of early wickets chasing and that Run Rate Required just Blows out. But Victoria bowled superbly I mean Nannis 1-8 and McDonald 3 for, Just Killed the Croweaters dead.
-
Great to watch The Big V beat South Australia over there. Well done to all, Mcdonalds bowling was spot on. But it made me think of something....BRING BACK STATE OF ORIGIN FOOTY!! It is badly missed.

Players come and Go every season...Many People told me that Arsenal were stuffed when Thiery left, but they just keep staying up there Obviously the Club is Run very Well-That's my main point. Stynesy should give Arsenne Venge a call, get a few Tips.
-
Yes i am quietly Amazed at Arsenal..we do not have 50% of some of these Arab Based Teams Budget. But just Keep Firing. Arsene Venge must be an amazing man to pull those teams together. The teams who sold out to Arab interests could be in a whole lot of trouble if there is a couple more credit squeezes. I hope they have some sort of Plan B going forward. I doubt Arsenal will finish Top at seasons end, but at the same time they could do it, even with serious injuries to goal scorers this year we are up there. Lets Hope The Demons develop the same sort of culture regardless of who plays in the team

Do those 2 teams get 20 wickets very often? i am no expert on those 2, but i havent heard of any great bowling performances on the news or radio at all. I am always worried they are Hungry rather than how well they played. Zimbabwe is such a mess-unnecesarily too which makes it even sadder...
-
Yes you are probably right, but the point i was trying to make i suppose is ...A poor batting line up will make the odd big score more than a bad bowling attack will take 20 wickets. Would take a while to collect the data but would be interesting to see the percentages on that.
-
Interesting Stat that one and they were certainly 3 Great Sides. I agree that Bowling is being made more difficult particularly those bloody roads they prepare in India when sub continent Teams seem to play. Would be interesting to know how many Bad Bowling attacks have taken 20 wickets in 5 days against a good batting attack...very few i would bet.

GUNNERS.... Top of the Ladder on this Day-I am enjoying this while it lasts...
-
That is an incredible Stat. 4 Decades!!!! That one should stand for quite some time i would reckon Well done Fabrice.... <_<

Ime glad you enjoyed M Hussey's Gritty Century RR to me it looked very wobbly, Siddle was out there for over 3 hours with him lets not forget that, any way as this convo is going around in circles its time to agree to disagree, i am certainly not apologizing for anything (Nice Twist there) i didn't learn too much about our Australian X1 that i hadn't worked out after the ashes tour of last year, because the opposition didn't put us under sustained pressure. This was the perfect Summer to Blood some young Players but sadly it didn't happen. A real shame that, and something The Team may live to regret. It will be an interesting 12 months though, not as interesting as The Demons will be of course,

Very Cryptic i know, only Alfred Hitchcock would know the answer!

Ponting should be moved down the order he still has some years left in him, don't put words in my mouth RR. I have never been a fan of his captaincy his batting is fine. Sorry i just do not see how an innings can be taken seriously when a batsman is dropped 4 times. Yes he made the most of incompetance by making that ton & once again good luck to him But i wouldn't want to trust that luck again. So RR you obviously think M Hussey is still up for Test Cricket as you disagree with me so vehmently?
-
Fair enough, i see it differently. M Hussey has been great for Australia but i believe he is ready to step down from Test Level. And it bothers me that an innings such as that will delay that course. Asif was really Stiff. Hussey Extremely lucky. Ponting went on to make a great innings-sure he was lucky, but many batsman have been dropped once. But 4 times, that's Bazil Fawlty cricket!! I don't give a stuff about the test just played in Time. I am interested only in Smashing the Poms, & i want the Selectors to think in that vien, I don't think M Hussey should go to England.
-
How many runs would M Hussey have made in that innings against a decent wicket keeper? That is the question i ask.. Yes his effort with Siddle was great but he should never have been there by then. That Wicket keeper was useless.
-
We just disagree on certain points RR, i think my points are fair calls actually. How many times has a Batsmen been Dropped 4 times before atTest Level? Not often i would suggest. The 2nd Test was a classic but we did not win it. The Pakistani's Chocked & lost it. Asif's 6-41 Ripped us apart. The fact his team didn't back him up is not his fault. Hussey's knock did not change the game...The wicket keeper did that job.
-
I agree with that, a great bowling side will usually take 20 wickets in a Test Match in the same way that Great Football sides have a rock solid class backline.
-
Man of the Match should have gone to Asif actually for taking 6-41 in the first innings. It was he who set the game on its course. I wouldn't call hussey's innings Gritty & Gutsy at all-he was just dam lucky that the wicket keeper was useless. (and good luck to him btw) but it was hardly man of the match stuff. Siddle was the anchor in a lot of ways. I am not bagging the team-i just get the feeling we will now be in a false sense of security with 3 players now in their mid 30's
-
I have never doubted Ponting as a batsman at all, i just think in 12 months time when the ashes are on the line he is going to be found out as a number 3 Batsmen. It does happen to all players. Time will tell. Th opposition we had this summer made it hard to gauge much on how good the side was, but sure you can only play who you are given and we won convincingly on paper. Hussey and North just treaded water in my opinion, The century Mr cricket made was probably the most unconvincing Ton i have ever seen-he should never have recieved man of the match. Granted Watson stepped up-that was a positive.
-
Gee thanks RR Ponting Batting at 3 is a worry going forward. North is not up to it, and Hussey now looks to be on the wane for test cricket. By Australia winning 5 tests over the summer i wonder whether all these problems will be fully worked through before next summer. I don't think we learnt much about the Australian X1 at all over this summer- very strange! How good is Hauritz, this summer he did his job for sure but we still don't know a lot....
